I'll only say that Damiani is not pleased with how he is viewed among parts of the community.

Excuse me but what?

There's context for BBboy20's statement, but I feel it's largely something that didn't need to be aired across the various communities such as NeoGAF. It's also quite a simple way to take what Damiani presented in said discussion as he explained the situation in a far more complicated matter than merely stating he was displeased with how people viewed his overall work and nothing more.

Yeah, how about we don't do drive-by posts that are...

A) Reducing someone's explanation about a complex topic in to a inflammatory statement.
B) Phrased in such a way to sound as if the poster is apart of some secret social circle that the rest of the community is not privy too.
C) Posted in such a way that it feels like the only reason the person posted it is to put shame on a certain portion of the community.

The bolded implication (whether it was unintentional or not) is the one that slightly miffed me. But it's whatever, moving on.

I'll just say that I like Damiani being a part of the Allies. He's great when he shows up on the different shows (like the podcast for example) and I like his personality.

The only dumb gripe I'll ever have against him is his 'not amazing, just ok' stance on Whataburger. :p

He was dead on about In-N-Out though

I had asked about that in a Q&A before PSX. Heard all of that hype and feared it was just a regional thing that isn't reeeeeally that good

Went there first thing when I got off the plane and it was indeed a very good fast food restaurant but like......I don't need to go to California for a very good burgers and fries fast food restaurant

People there were apparently really bummed to hear this though so whatever. Lol. I likened it to Portillos, it's beloved in Chicago and it's one of my favorite places but I'm not gonna die on that hill like it's the second coming of fast food

(that's Greg Miller's MO I guess)

Jones also said all locations are the same but I must've lucked out and gone to the one location that doesn't actually have a sit down area. You ordered in a tiny room and they just had park benches outside. It was windy. There were seagulls. Lol.

On the topic of food, is Indian food not a huge thing in California? During the Q&A, a question came up about it (I think the question mentioned Chicken Tikka Masala) and Ian sort of spoke as if it was a mystical cuisine out there, asking for recipes etc.

Just wondering, maybe it's being from the UK and Indian food being pretty big here.

Yo people just continuing to vaguely refer to god knows what the heck is going on here doesn't make this less confusing or better.
Given that I'm at a loss at what's going on I'm probably just offbase but it feels like a situation where I want to voice support for Damiani who's recent work I've been enjoying quite a bit despite not considering myself as part of the immediate target audience for Friend Code nor Zelda Talk. So both shows aren't carried purely by the subject matter for me. I'd say it's that he cares about it so much that by extension it makes me care about it as well. Basically I'm just the type of person that enjoys displays of passion.

Seeing the end of the newest podcast made me want to draw again. I dunno how Kyle feels about drawing and such in relation to his own skills but seeing that kind of made me want to get into it again. I've sadly kind of stopped to draw things for various reasons for the last couple of years. But the bit at the end of the podcast kind of reminded me "hey drawing is really cool and fun". Mmmh that's the most I can manage to express my complex feelings on the matter without making statements that I think can come over as pretty weird without the help of inflection.....

In any case thanks for that! Super entertaining bit too.

Yeah I have no idea what's going on (and I've been watching so much EZA content lately I feel like I should know what this refers to?) but regardless, I'll just say I freaking love Damiani, he's an amazing dude to listen to and brings a lot to EZA.

Also, what a jolly episode of the podcast. Felt like they were all loopy and tired from the stream, which made for some pretty hilarious stuff :p

Yeah I have no idea what this is about either (would like to though), but got the same feeling. So I'll throw in a quick, love your work Damiani and have loved since the GT days. While I didn't know it at first, it was much of Damiani's work that hooked me to the site in the first place.

It was a discussion held earlier today

All right, thanks.

Fuck off with the high school cafeteria gossip guys

It was a discussion held earlier today that Damiani and a couple of other people including myself had on the public EZA Discord server. It wasn't intended to be secret and came as a result of happenstance rather than through express purpose.

Basically put: Damiani didn't just air out a number of grievances out of the blue and go about his day. If you want more information or need proper context, everyone should be able to see how the conversation unfolded on the general channel via the EZA Discord server starting at 8:03 AM EST.

Fucking Damiani took off with the girl from The Deli. Rotten bastard.

_____

Actually, I always love it when Damiani goes in-depth with basically any of his opinions. He explains himself clearly always and I really enjoy it. Hell, he's the main reason I loved the March Q&A so much.

Eh in other news

I'm working through the podcast. I will just say I don't know why the crew was struggling on the name and what will quantify a new gen

The Scorpio in my mind will be called Xbox One Elite. Just like they did with the 360. The new gen will show up in 3-4 years and the big boost will be devs can drop support of the base PS4/Xbox one specs and only focus on the new HW. They'll develop new SKUs, new packaging, new marketing, etc.

I also think both will be BC from the getgo for PS4 and Xbox one games.

Piggybacking off this, I could see them calling it the Xbox Elite 1

That way future iterations are Xbox Elite 2, Xbox Elite 3, etc

That way Scorpio retains the "1" while also switching it up and distancing itself from XB1. Plus then your console names sound like fuckin fighter jets

Well, I was puzzled by Bboy's post, because it came completely out of the blue and felt weirdly antagonistic towards the whole community thread in general... for no reason? It's not as if someone is attacking Michael at the moment.

Also, I feel like I'm somehow involved in this, because it was my post he replied to in this very thread, when the whole Game Sleuth debacle started. Fact is, I like Damiani and I'm a huge fan of his work since the first Pop Fiction, I usually watch his streams and I was the one posting the first Game Sleuth thread here on GAF.

So, yeah, can we at least have a clarification about what's going on or a source about what he said if there's one?

EDIT: Oops, I see it has been clarified already, EDIT#2 and that it has nothing to do with that luckily.

Yeah, just went and took a look. No idea why Bboy had to present that post in such a secretive/gossipy way, made it look a lot more inflammatory than it really was.

Glad someone clarified.

Thanks for clarifying. The + side is I was reminded that EZA had a discord. Need to check in there seems like a good place to discuss the next EZAnime or have EZA discussion on P5 without clogging this thread up. Seems like a great place to get into random discussions.

I kind of forgot about it cause I'm a person with a general aversion to joining new social internet things(twitter and such) it always takes a bit for me to make the jump.
That said the community in general has been rather cool and welcoming overall to make me check more stuff out and be more engaged in even weird things like the cytube thing where people constantly watch EZA content. Still it's nice that EZA has a somewhat active gaf community where even the Allies themselves participate, in the end I'm still someone that falls back on the things that are comfortable.

Yeah... BBboy20 pretty much set fire to a non-situation with his drive-by comment. I didn't mean to further that "top secret club" narrative with my initial reply on the matter, I just truly felt that the discussion he was referring to didn't really need to be shared amidst other communities as it wasn't addressing any one particular instance. There wasn't an express purpose in the discussion either as it pretty much came about from some jokes made by myself and another user on the Discord channel.

All in all, Damiani himself has addressed and aired out similar concerns here and on his Twitch streams, so it shouldn't be surprising to hear that he isn't content with how he's perceived by the community at large.

Almost done with P5 after 65 hours. I think the second half of the game story picks up a lot and makes me like it better than P4. Some of the music is fantastic, one dungeon LOCATION/THEME SPOILER
the casino
has a fantastic tune and I like the vocal version of the evening exploring music and one of the boss themes, but I am so glad that DLC came out that let me have Time to make History as my main battle theme.

Got a bit left, but if it ends on this level, it's my new favourite of the series.

The theme when going in to the dungeon to fight the boss (i.e. the theme that plays at the dungeon entrance after sending the calling card) is unreal. I think it's an extended version of the Main theme.

Yeah, it's a shame it doesn't last long since you've got your route at that point, but goddamn. I usually just crank my speakers up for that bit.

i think they should change the way they upload the streaming games videos on youtube. the channel is usually silent for days and then you have 5-6 videos at once. its weird and it leaves a long of days empty. is there a reason for the way they release the videos like that?

It's a real killer. I'll have a bunch of free time with nothing to watch and then I run into a point where I can't keep up. I just went ahead and started Bos v. Woz and am loving it.

They're all available on Twitch too. But yeah, it's basically Blood doing it when he can.

Found it, it's called Life Will Change (Instrumental).

One of the best VG music pieces I've heard in years.

Vocal version too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcE4-6QGgpc I've now just muted the game while exploring a dungeon to have this on.

As far as I know, Bloodworth is solely in charge of handling their archived videos on Twitch and exporting them to YouTube. There's usually some edits made here and there to keep the flow going for YouTube viewers, so it's not a simple automated process.

I don't know if there's anything in particular affecting Blood's schedule at the moment, but I do know there's been delays in the past due to a review or events such as their one-year anniversary.

If you don't mind checking out their Twitch channel, you can view every stream they do after the fact by visiting the videos tab and selecting the one you fancy. It's not as cleanly cut as the YouTube versions, but you'll be able to get a chat replay for some of those more out-of-context moments.

I know there's a few people that might not have watched the stream but would be excited by this....

Ben said in the Dragon Quest II (Demo) Stream (So, not totally official) that there will be a full playthrough of some sort of Yakuza: Kiwami in August.

There's ways to schedule content on YouTube but I imagine that might make some other viewers mad because it'll make the content on YouTube take longer to come out. :/

Oh i know about the twitch channel i just figured they want to grow their youtube presence as well (plus watching on twitch doesnt actually get them any money, at least on yt they can monetize some of their videos).

Blood and Huber are the two going hard on all fronts despite not being full time

Hopefully with increased funding in the second year EZA can get to a place where both can also be full time. Don't know if that comes with the studio level of funding or beyond

The sporadic uploads on the archives has not been a normal thing. Just a necessity that's happened over the past couple weeks. Typically archives go up within a day or two. Since there's far more copyright issues on the long plays, that channel's not even monetized. The ad revenue wouldn't really be worthwhile anyways. Likewise we don't worry about typical best practices since it's really just there for the sake of convenience for people who can't make it to Twitch.

EDIT: You also have to keep in mind that we stream a lot during the week and very little on weekends. So there's typically not much for me to put up Sat/Sun, then if I don't get to Monday's stuff before heading to Brandon's for the group stream, there's already four or five archives on the backlog.

RE: Persona 5 show: I'd be totally ok if they just made a special "checking in" segment on Frame trap until we got everyone's impressions on the game. That would be super cool. I realize not everyone cares about Persona (even though they should :p) but I feel like this is an interesting thing to cover, kinda like Kyle talking about his mom playing the Witness. I'm always interested in that "fresh eyes" perspective on games.

Glad Ian brought up international Sports commentators, i was really confused through that segment. UK sports pundits are biased as fuck to their teams. Sky Sports News on a Saturday is like Huber Syndrome: Soccer edition.

Watching NHL Hockey in Canada, a lot of outlets tend to not have staff show personal bias, but there's a clear bias towards the presumed biases of their main audience. For example, local outlets will clearly favor the local team, but the individual personalities won't show any bias towards the team when analyzing play.
