I really hope it's easy to work with. That's what's going to matter.
Yup, and this is the reason Europe will get the system last. Because it won't matter. It matters to the US and Japan to launch at the same time.
Then both have to come out at the same time.....
But someone at Sony needs to have the balls to pull the trigger and say worldwide launch, fuck the shortages.
I get the feeling that Sony is rushing.
It's NOT about supply, it's about branding, language, specific laws and regulations in each EU country, marketing, distribution, etc.
Yes I do, at least here in the UK.
a) People are fucking starved for a new system, how many years has it been?
b) Xbox is the current console of choice.
c) Most non hardcore people (and kids) will get one console, if they have no choice which console will they get for Christmas?
I'll say it again, giving Microsoft a two/three month advantage over the mega sale time of Christmas is madness.
Or at least that is my opinion.
A few months could be almost for Sony Europe depending on who you ask.MS wil have a (almost) worldwide launch, they have done it with the 360. Why not this time?
It's worded weirdly. But they're not matching the amount. Only the performanceWHAT WHAT.
8GB @ GDDR5?!

No, not only has the PS4 no direct competition in Japan, the sales are also negligible compared to Europe.
Europe is by far Sonys biggest and most relevant market. Time to stop the bullshit and treat it like it should be treated.
Distributing EU-wide is a nightmare compared to US/Japan. But I get the impatience.

Sony has already earned an enormous amount of goodwill among studios working with PS4 development hardware.
One source familiar with both platforms tells us that in real terms Sonys console is slightly more powerful and very simple to work with.
You're of course free to disagree, but that doesn't make the point I'm trying to make any less valid.
New consoles generally have shortages during their first Christmas season, and they sell a negligible amount of their total amount of consoles during that season. Compare the 360 and ps3's first holiday sales in the UK to their current totals.

I think Sony has been looking to methodically check off PS3 weaknesses. Power + simplicity should mean good things for PS4 versions of multiplat games.
The Edge article paints a picture of almost perfection - asides from the later European date![]()
Europe might not get any next gen love this year
Europe fucked once more, the only territory they kept a foothold in and they treat them like shit again.
Because Europe is not one country, it is a region. Japan and US are one country so it is easier to launch even though the markets are bigger. Different countries have different rules.

There are like 15 consoles launching this year, we'll get OUYA at least!Europe might not get any next gen love this year
There's no fucking point, then.
That's not true. For all intents and purposes, the EU27 is a single market and all 27 nations basically have the same rules. If Sony satisfy EU level regulation they automatically satisfy national level regulation.
Has anyone stopped to consider which (if either) of the consoles will be region free?
That is kind of a big deal, at least for me.
There's no fucking point, then.![]()
I'm not talking just about sales, I'm talking mainly about public perception.
If Microsoft release this year their 'Super Xbox Puncho-tron Laser 5000', there will be massive hype, pubic will go 'oooh that is amazing', it will sell out etc.
Then a few months passes and the PS400 comes out and John Smith will be like 'I already have the Super Xbox Pucho-tron', why should I get this? Isn't it just the same thing?
Then Sony will play second fiddle again for five years.
Has anyone stopped to consider which (if either) of the consoles will be region free?

That's the other part, to increase the RAM it would require a new memory controller, it's too late for that. Adding a DDR3 memory controller and 2GB would be much cheaper.
Why would the PS4 not be region free considering the PS3 and the Vita???
Don't you have to cater for all languages and then certify them for each one. . . UK has a different certification process than Germany, didn't they ban beheadings in Ninja Gaiden Black but UK allowed it?
Why is the DS region free and the 3DS locked?
I wouldn't assume anything.

When did I say your point was less valid? Lol.
I even agreed that RDR looks better.
Yes I do, at least here in the UK.

PS3 is not region free. Mostly region free but there have been full retail games and demos that were region locked.
ask nintendo? wasn't the ds (and only up to the dsi) the only region-free nintendo system? sony has a trend here.
