Elden Ring Nightreign |OT| Praise the Rain

I got a good random group and we got to fight Gladius, Beast of Night, a three headed wolf with a chain blade on his back. (Main Boss 1 of 8)

I went back to the Roundtable hold and new dialogue options from all the characters and in different spots. I was playing Wylder the other guys were Ironeye and Recluse. Once you get some levels, you just start wrecking mobs. Fought Ball Bearing and perfumers on Night 1, Tree Sentinel and his bad ass knight crew Night 2. Gladius Night 3.

I don't like multiplayer games. This game is just so different than any other MP game out there and has a really fun loop once you get the hang of it. The video reviews and previews just don't do it justice. This game is a masterpiece. From has done something so crazy different and awesome that you just have to play it. The single player is damn hard. The MP is definitely where it is at. I was worried about depth. It took us an hour pretty much of straight playing to get to Gladius. Imagine that 8 times over just to beat the game. You'll be doing this again and again. At this rate, it's got what I estimate to be hundreds of hours of gameplay because when you die, you die and have to do it all over again. Unless you are playing with pro gamers, this is going to take a lot of time to work through. 8 characters to master on top of that.

Played like 5 expeditions, beat the 1st final boss and unlocked the rest. Almost beat the 2nd one.

Game is average at best.

The bad:
Needs voice communication.
Needs friends list inside the game or anything to play again with the people I want to because this is not a 5 minute summon, these are expeditions and some form of camaraderie inevitable happens, then its lost.
Being dead on the floor and having to get hit to revive is stupid and wasn't fun at all. It isn't well though out.
Game rushes you too much, can't enjoy anything but the main 3 fights because of all the constant running and looting like a maniac. I was playing thinking, what if I find the moonlight greatsword, then it hit me that everything is so frantic that we wouldn't be able to enjoy the moment. It doesn't feel like exploration, just feels like mindless going from one spot to the other to gather random drops.
Needs a mode with like 3 expedition teams that compete at the same time, maybe?

Nobody actually cares about the good IMO. We all know what it is.

Reminds me of The cycle, as in it was a co-op game that had amazing ideas but the whole package didn't work at the end.

Roundtable, been a while

Just from the opening tutorial area it's clear this is a much faster and fluid experience, the solo journey begins now, good luck Nightfarers.

What's the difficulty like on this if you're playing with people? Are the enemies harder because there's more of you, or are they set at normal difficulty so a lot of bosses are too easy with 3 players? Kind of intrigued how they've handled this.

As long as you know how to play Elden Ring decently, you'll have no issue in multiplayer. I'm impressed with the balance. As long as your group hangs together, it's really fun and you are mowing mobs down. What I didn't know before playing is that you get all kinds of weapon drops that are MUCH more powerful and different than what you start with from chests and mob drops. It seems like every item from the main game is in this for you to choose from. I stuck with great swords and I got this halberd that wrecked the Tree Sentinel in Night 2. It's kinda like an open world quick version of Elden Ring. It's really, really fun. I went in not liking MP and wanted to go SP. SP is there, but man, this MP changed my mind. I play random groups and got worried in the first hour of release, but people caught on fast. You will go down on bosses, and that's where the real fun is. You' hit'your downed teammates to resurrect and keep fighting.((No team damage, it's just for quick res) If you aren't in a main boss fight and go down, you will drop your souls, but you spawn close by so, usually not an issue unless it's in the storm.

I have a job interview tomorrow so, I need my rest, but I'm so fucking pumped from this game. I shouldn't have doubted From Software. This game has got everything that you would expect it to have. Outstanding gameplay loop, storyline in between, shit you don't even remember from the main game bearing down on you. I really loved all of the lore from the enemies from the main game and the expansion, and that feeling is back with a whole bunch of new stuff, too. I get why it was $40, because it's so odd to watch from the outside. But when you play it, it's straight CRACK. There isn't time to really sit and enjoy the map much, because you are on the move every second. You can't stop and go wow, it's the main area from ER over and over. The difference is how it just drops random shit everywhere and you are strategically moving from area to area.

The influencers didn't get it because they were in a closed environment. They are a lot like the old video game mags from the 90's. They play games to sell them, not for fun. They move from point to point, always the next game. It's a whole different animal now that it's out in the wild. People thankfully have caught on quick and what a ride.

I think the main issue is going to be from the console side, at least at first. It's going to be a slower burn due to the sheer number of new players trying to catch on and that's probably going to lead to more people being 'independent'in their gameplay. Just dropping in not knowing what to do. It should resolve itself in a few days to a week from now as I don't see it being for everyone. It's more battle and strategy than exploration. The battle engine guy at From directed this one, so if you want to see new lands, this does not deliver that like the main game. This is less like LOTR, Excalibur or Dragonslayer and more Conan The Barbarian. 😂

Game is fucking crack. Iron eye mains where you at!?

Best class at reviving. I can lock onto the homies from far away and shoot a few arrows safely to get people back into the fight.

I clutched a boss for my first team. Felt like a God.

The Ultimate Special sound is thunder from heaven!

Trying a run with each character before deciding who I want to focus on progressing with, Ironeye feels fantastic which is a surprise as I generally don't dig archer classes. Challenge is no joke playing solo but I'm enjoying the process 👌

One thing I need to call out is performance on Pro, even in Performance Mode it's wildly inconsistent and again, that's playing solo. Yes, we like giving FROM a pass for this kind of thing but I'm always gonna keep it real, especially considering how the game looks there is no excuse, period.

Anyway, back to it 🌘🌧️

Some runs are just completely botched from the jump, they need a restart or vote to abandon option lol.

I mean I get what they were going for but a Fell Omen as a tutorial boss is some top tier trolling lol

Ironeye is great for solo too. It's a nice way to explore the map and just shoot at range for a cozy run. And that Ultimate clearing groups?

First run, accidently chose a Sorcerer (Not a magic user in many games) and got stomped by the Day 1 boss as a threesome, I forgot the map shrinks as well which was great lol

Best tip I can remember from the network test was ASAP level up to 2 as its a huge jump that gets less with each level.

I imagine some will figure out what each level point boosts you by in the future.

Well, made it to the night 2 boss for the first time, 3 golden cavalry against 1 lowly archer? lol, yes, solo is definitely hardcore mode. Ironeye and Duchess are insta favourites, Wylder is dope too, other classes are alright. I think solo players should be granted 1 free revive and allow replenishing of shop revive in map per night. As it stands you can buy it once from the merchant per run and it doesn't restock.

Alright, I think I'll join some randos and see how the MP is.

Edit: sorry solo bros, co-op is where it's at, the action is sublime. On my very first multiplayer run we made it to the Night Lord, no mics, no communication, really not needed for this game. What an absolutely epic boss, once it's HP dropped by a third I lol'd at what happened next 😂 We had a nice party mix with Ironeye, Wylder and Guardian, good times.

Absolutely insane and challenging experience for solo, it is impossible to pass day 1 main boss cause the mechanics are designed entirely for co-op, team work. I enjoyed it as far as I could, but it doesn't seem possible to go any further.

Everything else is classic FromSoft quality, the level & new boss designs are flawless.

It's wild that there are a number of folks that have done it with proof on YouTube. I've tried a few solos and there's just no hope for me lmao.

I recently bought a Pro and this is my first new game for it. It runs like absolute ass. I'm now kicking myself wondering if I should have just sprung for the PC version instead even though it has the 60fps cap. I was hoping this thing would run between 55-60 consistently on the Pro, but it's definitely dropping into the low 40s all the time. I read that some people are running the PS4 version just fine, so I might switch to that.

Low 40s on the Pro ? lmao

Man, fuck FROM, always 1 gen behind when it comes to everything tech...
Same shitty engine, 5 years later after ER and yet, here we are.

They're just incompetent and the worst thing is that its fanbase will always give them a pass.

It sounds like fun, but my issue is normal fromsoft multiplayer is so bite sized and low consequence that even if you don't have time for traditional multiplayer you can play it and enjoy it.

I don't think I'm at the time in my life where I would enjoy a game like this where the entire thing is multiplayer I just don't have that much uninterrupted time.

Ahhh, a shield fit for a viking

Had the first Night Lord down to 10% once and we got wiped, I was an Ironeye paired with two Duchess' (one named Hawk Tuah, true story), the struggle continues.

The first thing you want to do on map *while flying in* is mark the nearest church of Marika to boost estus. If your team has a brain they will follow your lead. You should make maxing out estus a priority, (just got a trophy for it actually) moving to every available Church. If the distance is too great then leave 1 church for night 2 but get it out of the way quick.

"From Soft game at bargain price. Best gaming deal of 2025!"

Eh....not in favor of OT titles that read like they were paid for.

That watch is cutting off circulation.

Also, anyone know here know if when you beat a boss and the map "shatters" or whatever, is it just to be able to obtain a legendary weapon from there on that run you're on?

I immediately wanted my team to go there on my run after a boss, and it was a gaping session. Stuff in that lava area was no joke…

I played the beta on PS5 Pro on a wired connection. Everything about the online felt super janky, which is not a big deal for a mostly single-player game like Elden Ring, but would be incredibly frustrating in a MP-focused game. Might be the first From Soft game (since Dark Souls) I didn't pre-order.

Can you use duchess as a weapon? Or do the characters have their stats translated to scaling?
Each character has set stat progression/scalings. So this is where some prior Elden Ring knowledge comes in since the weapons you find aren't going to say what scalings they are. Every character can use every weapon but obviously something like a Giant Crusher is gonna be way more impactful on Wylder/Raider than Duchess. Then assuming they kept the same scalings from base Elden Ring, elemental infused weapons are also gonna have changed scalings.

Wylder: STR A | DEX B | INT C | FAI C | ARC C
Revenant: STR C | DEX C | INT B | FAI S | ARC B
Guardian: STR B | DEX C | INT D | FAI C | ARC C
Ironeye: STR C | DEX A | INT D | FAI D | ARC B
Raider: STR S | DEX C | INT D | FAI D | ARC C
Duchess: STR D | DEX B | INT A | FAI B | ARC C
Recluse: STR D | DEX C | INT S | FAI S | ARC C
Executor: STR C | DEX S | INT D | FAI D | ARC S

Nice to see single player concerns being addressed quickly. Would be cool if they just let you select AI summons to do 2/3 player runs for solo folk as well.

Gameplay loop is sublime, FROM Gods don't miss, the game is addictive as all fuck. Clocked 7 hours today, still haven't cleared the first Night Lord lol, challenge is no joke even for a vet like me who has the plat trophies for Sekiro, BB, Elden Ring etc.

I feel like this game is a few tweaks and additions away from being great. Since its not a gaas title, i dont know how serious the post launch support will be
