Just quickly checking in to say I'm out atm but will read thru the new stuff and maybe post when I get home. For now:

UNVOTE

I don't think Kalor is a particularly good target atm. He's not that silent anymore and I'm willing to forgive his Latino sounding name.

President Obama’s hair is definitely grayer these days, and no doubt trying to manage foreign policy in a world of increasing disorder accounts for at least half of those gray hairs. But having had a chance to spend an hour touring the horizon with him in the White House Map Room late Friday afternoon, it’s clear that the president has a take on GAF, born of many lessons over the last days, and he has feisty answers for all his foreign policy critics

nin1000 - hmm, yeah I don't like this one's start. I think it's all fluff but it's also designed to drag attention onto him. I don't know why he'd do that but I certainly don't feel compelled to trust him at the moment.

VOTE: nin1000

Any non-flavour thoughts on the game so far, nin?

th

You sure are looking for a troubled america are you fellow Terrorist.
Yeah it's near my death. Sawneeks asks me a stupid question and some people can't understand that it's a stupid question.

Not that I'm still fucking salty or anything.

Card game was kgtrep

you sure Sound angry when you are angry, does america Need someone angry ? i doubt that !
I can't RP for shit

"What makes you laugh?" GAF asked.

"Well, he does - He's just funny," he replied.

Before I go to bed, I'll switch my vote to Cabot. It honestly feels like he's playing differently. Pointless stuff, stuff that distracts, stuff that gives him cover. "I only posted pointless bullshit to move the discussion along" is such a ridiculous explanation, I don't even know what to say. I get fluff, I get that, it's a lot of fun, but that list is 101 "How to look busy while doing nothing".

My fucking god, reading through these pages is dreadful. I forgot how dumb Day 1 is.

Sorry I haven't been reading that, this is very simple though, more a question than a game.

Never Forever thank you for volunteering. Please answer the following question.

Please consider the following colours:
Red, Blue, Green and Yellow.
For the purpose of this discussion, no other colours exist.
I would like to know your favourite colour, however it is imperative that you do not tell me or anyone else which colour it is. Instead I would like the following hint:

Please tell me the first letter of your favourite colour.

Thank you

Lol. A Sawneeks test eh?

I changed my avatar too! I just make sure to do it before I ever get a role PM, so I'm innocent.

Here's the thing: Changing your avatar *is* telling. Changing your avatar to a Democrat when Team Republican is the good side it at the very least confusing, at worst it's a way to subconsciously soothe our suspicions. It's like posting "Hey, I'm a Democrat, my role is B-Rock 'The Islamic Shock' Obama, just kidding, hihihi". It's honestly been a long time since I read into psychology (or rather tells), but it's definitely not "nothing".

Obviously that is not enough to vote for him, but at the very least it should get him more scrutiny than usual. You of all people, who went to great lengths to post a really lengthy accusation based on flimsiest evidence last game should understand that.

Alright I'm caught up.

So people have been voting all over the place. Which isn't particularly helpful if we want to use voting patterns later on to determine who to vote for. But whatever, it is Day 1. We're basically deciding who is the least useful Town player, or praying that we get lucky and lynch a Despair.

My vote for right now is going to be on the player who has spoken the least (aside from me, since I just joined). Vote: Bananaspaceprincess.

Vote is subject to change. I'm an elephant, not a stubborn ass after all.

*cough* *cough*

In an attempt to get things back on topic, I'm allowing more time for Corn since he is a rep and BSP because she probably is unavailable at the moment but it seems that we've gotten something semi-substantial out of everybody except for Nin, all jokes and no work. Just thought I'd throw that in the ring so that people aren't surprised when my vote changes later.

Real talk, what substantial thing do you want out of me? I was serious when I said that on Day 1 we're basically deciding who is the least useful Town player, or praying that we get lucky and lynch a mafia player. I don't think I've ever seen a game where Despair could be sussed out on Day 1.

I could post reads, but they'd be largely empty and thus useless.

Let's see what you folks make of this.

I agree with Never Forever. Lynching on the first day is fairly reasonable, even if there is the unfortunate chance of lynching a member of town. If we give the accused enough time, we should be able to avoid mishaps like in the Archer game.

That said, while I agree that we should postpone the lynching for as long as possible, I think it's mostly so we can all discuss how we want to approach this game, in particular those of us with an ability. I would like to stress though, which I also said in the Archer game (and I meant that sincerely), that we should not put too much emphasis on the interpretation of first day posts. They might be helpful later, but by themselves are not too useful.

This sounds like a mafia 101 post. It sounds scripted to me. Saying "unfortunate chance of lynching a member of town" - leaving the underlying impression that he's really lamenting having to make a decision. "which I also said in the Archer game" - emphasizing past experiences where he was correct to give himself some credence. The rest sounds like canned town speak, which most probably scum acting like town, perhaps even overcompensating a bit by having to explain such rudimentary mafia strategy.

Focusing on something completely irrelevant, like changing avatars. Trying to vilify people who've changed their avatars, in a very serious manner, calling it "suspicious" and "confusing". Truly bizarre reactions to something like avatar changes, which rarely mean anything at all. Most mafia wouldn't take a gamble like telegraphing their role name through an avatar.

Hilariously calls someone out for making a "really lengthy accusation based on flimsiest evidence".

Then there's this. It feels like he skipped over the majority of the real conversation that took place about Carrot. I mean, admittedly, I was the one raising those points, so I'm a bit hurt. But still, I stand by that. Yet, here he comes, riding in on this nice 4 vote train. Is there any point in burying Carrot at this point like this, even if you don't have the context of what we've been discussing about him?

I posit that El Topo is likely mafia. He's trying to bury Carrot on the basis of over-committing to the lynch so as to look more innocent when Carrot flips town. If you guys want to call Carrot out for starting off taking the game too seriously, I think El Topo deserves double the scrutiny on the same basis. His posts have contained at least a little hostility, just enough so that people don't turn against, and information that is irrelevant to gameplay.

To be fair, Cthulhu game is the perfect example of sussing out scum on day 1 if I hadn't of fucked it up. But anything really, reads (lol cabot), what you would rather go for (least useful town vs. possible scum), thoughts on the vote leaders right now, etc. You're around, don't be afraid to bring up an oldtopic, you weren't here and we only gain from hearing multiple thoughts.

Let's see what you folks make of this.

I agree that Topo has been extremely erratic since the game has started and if we want to pursue possible scum as opposed to just pushing out an inactive then he might be the man to push for. The most telling thing to me has been the whole avatar discussion. It seems like such a ridiculous non issue to focus on, almost worse than Splinter referring back to total post counts often.

I've returned to my AC strats of looking at the small behavioral stuff. Sadly, I'm not very good at putting most of what I see or feel when I read something into words. However, he's standing out as the most scum-like to me right now.

Leave alone if you want to wait for Zatoth to post results for Cthulhu:
I disinctly remember another player who paid distinct attention to the post counts XD

Votes needed for majority: I have no idea. I haven't finished my PhD in GAFia math yet.

I didn't actually call out specific number of posts and I was town-aligned when I was doing that, so take that how you will
Cthulhu spoilers that aren't actually that important anymore.

Well, I got home and read thru what I missed but it's not that much, However, before going to sleep, I'll assign my vote once again.

VOTE: LaunchpadMcQuack.

Three reasons:

- I don't like your post on El Topo. Sure, he made a big deal out of an avatar and that has a 0.5% percent chance of being relevant, but (1) it's D1 and at the very least as a conversation maker it's something that should be brought up and (2) I also disagree with your appreciation on a post that's supposedly "mafia 101" because it says obvious pro-town things. Sure it does, but I'd rather have someone say those things, and it's even a freaking page 1 post! it's not like he's saying it now that the early-game banter is over where it'd seem out of place. Similarly, lynch vs. no lynch is always brought up even though the meta has settled on D1 lynch for a while.

- You seem to be carrying around too much luggage from previous games/that other ongoing one around, like you've decided for us how we're going to perceive you and preemptively saying you'll act different this time around. This is another game, relax.

- I do agree that El Topo's willingness to go after Cabot just because he says he's playing different is odd (I don't see it, but some people have mentioned it too so what do I know), but I find your attitude a lot more hostile and your hesitation to put a vote for him makes me feel like you either don't believe your own words as much as you say you do, or want to avoid fingers being pointed at you later,

I'll be heading to bed soon but I just wanted to put out a reminder that I'm waiting for BSP to chime in and give more of her reads on what people have been saying. In response to Fire's post above mine, eh, I do find Topo to be suspicious as well, maybe the avatar thing is a stupid reason but it does stick out to me too and day 1 is filled with stupid reasons. Everyone keep in mind that we are, what, about 12 hours away from day 1 wrapping up? Make sure to discuss what we can before then so we can make the most informed decision that we can.

...so you agree with me? Man, I know I should sleep when I can't tell if someone is backing or countering what I said...

===

Anyway, Launch, if it isn't apparent from my post above, what I'd like you to answer is: Why did you not vote for El Topo in that post if you went so far as to "posit he's likely mafia"?

Again, it makes me think you're trying to start a bandwagon that you either don't believe in 100% or don't want to see traced back to you eventually.

Kind of, my main counter to you is that I feel like Launch didn't do anything weird. I guess just re-iterating my point that I agree with Launch's assessment.

If anything, I'd read it as scum trying to get the real Ted Cruz to counter claim and then scum know a PR to kill.

This is the post I mentioned earlier. I feel like a lot could be inferred from that. I can explain better but it may start to give scum more info than I prefer.

Am i nuts? He hasn't done anything else odd.

For now,

I don't know what to really say back to you here, it's a sound plan and I brought it up because it's probably something I'd do if I were scum. Getting PRs to soft claim is like a wet dream for scum and pretending to soft claim a role, especially in a game with this type of flavor where it's pretty obvious what the names of the PRs will be, might get push back from the actual holder of that PR. That being said, a doctor role always likes those soft claims too because they might prevent a kill or two but Gafia probably forgets about that because they like lynching the doctor's day 1. That's a tangent though, I didn't read the situation as cabot trying to soft claim Ted Cruz and offered another possibility of why he kept posting Ted Cruz pictures (his excuse that he just thought Ted Cruz had the best face for reactions is just as likely too).
