People finding controller or M+K better?

In theory I'd say controller is better for movement (cause analogue stick) and kb/m is better for aiming (cause analogue stick... lol).

But I've always played on consoles so controller for me :P

controller. but I havent even tried M+KB so /shrug

apparently theres
mimic chests
, I havent seen any but I got this item

anyone got fucked by a
mimic
yet?

I've heard of those, but funnily enough haven't met one yet and I've done my fair share of runs...

Played a couple hours, really fun. I think the best weapon I had so far was called the Jolter? It looks like a red super soaker, semi-auto that fires strong wide shots. Died near the end of floor 3 when I decided to activate a weird statue thing that sent down a bunch of enemy waves into the room I was in. edit: Also Beholster seemed pretty nuts too but I died soon after getting it.

I decided to get it on PS4, no issues with performance or aiming, game looks and plays great.

Control layout feels weird, though I'm not sure what I should change button assignments wise. Also moving the cursor on the map is stupid slow.

Yeah the Jolter does really good damage and knocks back enemies which is useful most of the times. At first I was thinking about changing the Blanks to some other button, but I didn't really knew what button so I kept it as is and it's fine for me now.

Also the map thing, well you can either press down on the d-pad to go across the teleports you've found, or you can click R3 to change the zoom level (press twice to be fully zoomed out).

I really like its graphics style in trailers. Is this roguelike and when you die in for example level 3, you should start again?

How yea dealing with controller? I tried it but the shoot/dodge were on bumpers fixed that. I just need to get use to my new controller then (which I should as DS3 soon!)

I killed a few mimics.

you can rebind the controls. I have shoot on RT, map on LT, item on RB and Blanks on LB

using on A, dodge on B, reload on X and whatever Y does I forget

so what happens if you keep knocking the
alien dude's helmet back into the dungeon and saving him
? does something eventually happen?

I have started buying things from the girl and the robot but I've never seen any of those actually dropped on the first floor. Half of the time I don't even get a good weapon on the 1st floor.

Even when I had some better weapons, I forgot their names, sort of rocket launchers and that kinda stuff, it still takes 5 minutes to grind down the bosses. I guess it's just me.

5 minutes? Even with The Pilot's starting gun level 1 bosses are like a 1 minute fight.

I know about the switching teleports, didn't catch the zoom level though, thanks.

Yeah I should probably switch the blanks to a face button because I've activated them accidentally a few times. I also keep hitting the touch pad to pull up the map and pull up the encyclopedia instead which is annoying.

Love the game so far, only able to take the first boss down but I didn't have a ton of time to play. So money is just used to buy stuff during your run? I see some of you mentioning you unlock a store later. Hopefully I get that soon.

I've only done it once, I rather wait and get some other people to save and try lter what happens if you keep doing it...

I keep finding new things even in the first floors. Just found a
mirror in a room in floor 1, I broke it, and the map says theres a chest in that room but I cant see it ;_;

I just pressed "a" infront of the mirror and it broke and gave me a chest

How? The only boss I've been able to consistently beat is the Gull

most bosses die in 1-2 minutes for me with the guns I have unlocked. Or, you know...I die lol

The
black ball of death that rolls around
is one of my banes, as is the
wall boss
(that one I havent even beaten). The
bird guy, twins, medusa, beholder
all die quite fast usually

I'm having a weird issue with the ps4 version of the game. My characters is aiming in the direction of their movement, forcing me to constantly aim with the right stick. Its weird, I swear it wasn't like this prior to when I updated the console to 3.50.

I had this happen to me once, but exiting the game and coming back fixed it for me. It did suck though, made me lose my best ever run because there's no way I could adjust my thinking to having to run at the boss to shoot it while still dodging all his attacks. In my case though I was shooting in the direction I was moving regardless of where the my right stick was aimed.

My strategy is constantly keep strafing and dodging, just like giant circles and stay away as far as possible so you can easily see the bullets coming...

Can kill all of the lvl 1 bosses like that and most of the time without using a blank. Think the bullet king and those bullet bros are the easiest... Gull and Beholster also don't give me any trouble

The first boss I fought was Gatling Gull, and the 2nd was King Bullet. That boss fight is too fun. I died, but it's so great and intense. The thing that makes this game so good is its Bullethell aspect and the cover system.

The chest is in the reflection of the mirror.

just got some
wings... I guess you need those for those huge rooms with seemingly no way to get to the other side. Damn you RNG, now you give me the wings?

boses are random from a difficulty pool

The elevator dude wants that monument you get for getting a perfect on a floor. He says that's exactly what he needs. I gave it to him but he still asked me for the 3 blanks, 3 keys and 120 gold. I couldn't get it so now I don't know what difference the monument makes.

Gotten as deep as the 4th floor, but that's maybe the ceiling of my skill level unless I somehow get really lucky.

I just got a
bullet component using the wings... so does this mean that to finish the game you need not only multiple perfect runs to get to the last floor AND you need RNGesus to be on your side and give you in this case the wings to get this item
? Methinks im never going to finish this :p

Alright, popping in today that I love this game. This is the first rogue-like of this kind that I am seriously addicted to. I like it way more than Nuclear Throne.

What exactly does the dog of the Hunter do? I can't find it in the Ammunicon, or maybe I am just blind.

she barks when theres treasure in a room to pick up, in case you dont notice. although it useless because the map also shows when theres something in the room like a heart or a key

That's it? That really is useless. I guess she at least starts with two weapons, but I am not a fan of the crossbow.

Does the dog bark at secret or hidden chests/treasure, like the aforementioned
mirror chest
?

Actually sometimes it digs a treasure up.

Oh wow, I decided to play a quick round before heading to bed and discovered something about the fireplace room.

I got a gun that shot water, put the fire out, walked behind it, and it opened a secret room on a different part of the map. In the room was a door with two locks on it...unfortunately I couldn't scrounge up two keys to open it :(

So I found the dude who opens shortcuts and talked to him in the breach, but when I get to chamber 2 he isn't sitting around. Am I missing something? All he says is I'll have to make it down the hard way for now.

Go back to the entrance of Chamber 2 before the boss (not sure exactly when), there will be a hole where the elevator was. Just drop down there.

EDIT: What does turning on Beast Mode or Speedrun Mode do, mechanically?

Oh cool, totally missed that.

How does this compare, content-wise, to Isaac Rebirth? I mean, I don't expect it to have as much content as Rebirth, obviously, but is there enough variety there to keep the game fresh for a long while?

10 hours in and yes, but I never played Isaac, well I did for a few minutes but I hated the gameplay

Judging by the encyclopedia and how different every run feels, yes. It's designed for replay-ability and longevity.

Also if you're someone who saw potential in Isaac but hated the feel of the core gameplay or the fact that you have no initial context to what almost any item does, you should really give this game a shot. In a lot of ways it feels like a direct remedy to issues people had with those games.

Bingo.

I liked the premise of BoI, but hated the gameplay and the overal tone of the game, EtG is indeed what you said.

Feeling good about going into the 5th floor with 6 hearts, died 3 rooms in hah! :(

I bought this on a whim but it's been surprisingly enjoyable so far, I like that you can get extra heart containers for beating bosses without taking any damage.

Does anyone know what the
Special Gunpowder that you get in the big minecart chasm room on floor 3
does?

What am I supposed to give the slime creature under the gate that sometimes shows up in the shop?

no idea, theres no prompt to actually give something so its probably just flavor

it one of the
materials for the bullet that kills the past, aka to actually finish the game
