Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

Honestly, the thought of playing games like this on the go is as much as an incentive for me to get a Switch as any major releases that might release on the platform regardless of developer.

Unlocked the last shortcut! Pretty proud of myself I have to say - and saving keys/money is a great way to focus your mind on managing with what you have! I'm also getting to (and defeating) the Dragun much more consistently although there are some bosses I still really struggle with. I'm definitely improving though, and focusing more on my character during difficult moments rather than what I'm shooting at.

Need to get the other bullet parts now, then I can go for a proper completion!

Past killed for the pilot! ^_^

That last section took me by surprise. Does it play out any different if you choose the second option before the last fight? Just backs you out of the game I assume?

It's a fake choice, same for all of them.

Any news on the expansion?

Number, you been to the
Bullet Hell
?

The Supply Drop? That's already out, unless there's another expansion planned.

And convict done too! ^_^

Also unlocked the robot. Took that fucking television all the way to the forge and for a moment I thought the shop was going to be locked behind a key... which I didn't have! D:

Not yet, no. Thought I'd kill the pasts of the characters before braving down there.

Thanks, I wasn't sure from the pilot although it was pretty obvious for the convict.

Oh cool - now I'm thinking about a possible GOTY version for the Switch, that'd be great.
It's confirmed for the Switch.

EDIT: Oh, you mean with the paid DLC.

Well, the marine's past is quite a bit more challenging than the other two so far!

EDIT: Super late edit, but I don't want to fill a whole page with just my posts! Marine done - definitely the hardest past, but also the hardest so far to play in general. He might have the easiest start because of better accuracy and an extra hit, but after the second level you really start to notice the lack of any tools at his disposal.

Nice, thanks. Not sure how I've managed to unconsciously do that on the other characters though? Unless it only unlocks when you've completed it on the four starting characters?
Nope, it's always like than once you kill a past. I agree that it's not super intuitive.

Weird, but at least I know now!

Had my first proper run at bullet hell and...

!

Started the Lich fight with 5 hits on me and managed to kill him with one remaining. I'd seen the fight a few times through watching streams but still amazed I managed it on the first attempt. ^_^

Any tips on unlocking the bullet to play? I don't recall ever seeing one of the bullets with red capes, but I've been playing long enough that I must have come across them by now.

Beat all 6 charaters' pasts and beat bullet hell. Got really lucky with duct tape combining the stinger and the scrambler with the hip holster. Fantastically OP run. Also beat dragun with the Sorceress's blessing and nabbed all the bullet casings in boss rush. Only thing I need to do is Daisuke's challenge and complete the bounties and I should have 100% it. It's really tough going back to other characters after playing as the bullet for so long. Runs just go so much faster as the Bullet. No contact damage plus the blasphemy = speedrun mode.

If I remember right, they said back during Supply Drop that they'd have another free expansion, and then a paid expansion.

I can only find one source for that, and it could be a misquote as I can't find the dev quote source for it.

Even there, what it says is that there'd be another "update" (not expansion). And in any case, other sources regularly report that the next expansion after Supply Drop will be paid (including a later one by the very same RPS):

Anyone noticing hitching on the PS4 version of this? Recently (might be since 4.5, honestly not sure) it frequently freezes for a short time (maybe a second) and I'm wondering if my PS4 is on the verge of giving out.

Haven't played anything else recently, I guess I could try something else to see if I have the same hitching happen. I do have a second PS4 but at the moment I can't use it - I guess I could also try moving that to where my current one is.

I've had hitching frequently, as well as few full blown crashes only when playing Enter the Gungeon. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Supply Drop is not a completely stable update.

It happens on my PS4 Pro too.

After making real progress Friday night I've been able to do nothing useful all weekend! :s

Also still haven't seen a single of the caped bullet kin as far as I can tell.

Thanks for this, at least it's not just me. The PS4 randomly turned itself off a couple of weeks back and I've been a little concerned ever since as I've never seen anything like that happen before.

Ugh, challenge mode really fucking with me. There are some cool modifiers in there, but also some not so cool modifiers. Rooms with gimmicks should be limited to one modifier at least. And those modifiers shouldn't be additional level hazards. I just got to a gatling gun minecart room which by itself is already a huge pain in the ass in normal mode. Add Ghost in the Shell and Hammertime? Hell no. Even with the Blasphemy it is nigh impossible to do without getting hit. Hammertime with shambling totem pole enemy is awful too. Then again, anything with Hammertime sucks. And the bosses really suck with the wrong modifiers.

There are some really fun ones that change things up like "Don't Blink" and "Long Live the King" and "Zone Control." I don't even mind ones that keep you moving like Poison pursuit because you can use that to your advantage. But the ones that just add more bullets and hazards to dodge are really unfun.

Read that they are tweeking it to add positive modifiers into the mix.

There was a new bugfix update.

Also PSA for some more fun play: One you've killed a character's past you can pray at the statue in the starting room to get 9 curse for tougher enemies and better rewards.

If I've finally unlocked all the guns and beat optional bosses (old king and bullet hell) then what order should I do next for the optional modes, etc?

Do you have to do something special to unlock the glass shrine? I'm baffled by how I've yet to come across one.

Things I still have to do:

Kill The Bullet's past.
Kill the Robot's past.
Defeat the Lich.
Create 10 guns with Munchers. (maybe? I have to believe I've done this, but haven't come across the items it apparently unlocks)
Acquire 5 Master Rounds in one run.
Use Lament Configurum 20 times.
Complete Boss Rush.
Defeat the High Dragun in Challenge Mode or attempt Challenge Mode 30 times.
Find Ser Junkan, upgrade him to Knight or higher, then kill a boss. (not sure if I've done this to unlock him as a regular passive item)
Find and use a Glass Shrine.

I only started playing this once the Supply Drop update arrived, but I've been playing it constantly ever since. I'm super psyched for the bigger paid update.

Doing 5 master rounds is easier on boss rush.
So you can kill those 2 with One stone.

Does anyone know what the last boss on the Ammonomicon is? The one in the bottom row on the right?
Spoilering, just in case:
Blockner

Yeah, I just realized that. Beat boss rush now, and I've come close on the 5 rounds. I suck terribly at the High Priest if I don't have good weapons.

I got this game day one and still haven't finished it at least once... I'm loving it a lot, though. Guess I will never master bullet hell games.

Maybe any tips, guys? Kind of weird that I ask it now, lol.

What have you done?

I'd prioritize freeing all the gungeon's prisoners so you can buy their stuff in the lobby.

Spoilers for some prisoners:
You can consciously try to complete Frifle's challenges to keep unlocking some good items.
Acing Winchester's game three times unlocks a pretty sweet item. It's a good idea to learn how to do well on his shooting game so that you can take advantage when it shows up and you have lots of cash.
Opening up the Tailor's elevator shortcuts also unlocks some items after completing each elevator, so that has additional value.

Other general stuff:
Don't be afraid to use your many weapons, even in regular rooms.
If you don't pick up any keys before reaching the store, the store is guaranteed to sell at least one key, so you can use to your advantage a little bit.

There's a lot of stuff to do that just keeps unlocking new, better items, so part of it's just playing more and more, while learning enemy and boss patterns.

I actually did a lot of these things, I think I've rescued everyone from the base game, not sure about Supply Drop yet. I'm doing challenges, buying and unlocking weapons, etc. but having problems getting past floor 5. I remember getting to dragon boss once but that's it.

Well fuck, I'm sure I've taken him down.

EDIT: the tutorial dungeon is boarded up for me, I must have taken him down right?

I was the same for the longest time. You'll naturally get better as you play, if only because you'll be able to identify the attacks coming your way quicker and more accurately.

It's boarded up if you're playing as the secret characters. Is he hanging out near the entrance to the tutorial in the lobby? If not, you probably did not beat him.

WTF, the game just blacked out as I was in Bullet Hell and dropped me back at the entrance to the first chamber with all of my gear/casings etc. intact. Happened to anyone else?

Hopefully it won't wipe out the fact that I beat
Blockner
on that run...

EDIT: Derp, just realised that I had the clone passive.
