Tebow's best throws are deep balls over the top. His underneath accuracy is terrible. Do you watch games at all?

There's no way in hell you've seen both these players play if you're comparing Tebow's throwing ability in any way to Michael Vick's. I don't mean that to be mean. The only other thing I can think of is you're not observant at all.

Glad to see that Rodgers is the most popular QB on the list.

Hahaha win.

He's a better version of Michael Vick. He may not have the same outright athleticism that Vick has, but he's built in such a way that he can handle the physical play. Vick didn't really develop into a function quarterback until teaming up with Andy Reid and going to jail.
You're an idiot. Outside of durability there is nothing Tim Tebow does better than Michael Vick.

I cant wait until they tweak their QBR rating in the offseason so that he can lead the league in their fake ass statistic.

The thing I don't like about Tebow - well, moreso the media narrative - is that he's better than other players morally, in ways never before seen. There have been Christians in sports since the beginning of sports, especially in this country. Players have kneeled after touchdowns for decades, yet this was only trademarked when Tebow did it.

I like the fact that Tebow is someone who works hard, realizes he's not the best QB right now, and is focused on getting better. Any sports fan would want guys like that on their team. I also honestly think he can be a decent to good NFL QB.

This is exactly my problem with him. It as if other players who don't try to try to smash you in the face with their beliefs weren't christian enough.

Is it really because he's white and Christian? Phillip Rivers is a fairly devout Catholic iirc and is white and no one cares. He's even a decent to great quarterback.

Rivers is almost universally hated by everyone but Charger fans for a few events that happened his first few years. Especially his feud with the also hated Jay Cutler

I don't remember anyone ever giving a shit about Reggie White being a minister, and he was a) far more outspoken than Tebow about his faith, and b) a far more dominant player on much better teams. Same with Kurt Warner:
There were actually some who didn't like Reggie White and Warner because of that. Warner got a lot more crap for it in comparison simply because he plays a higher-profile position.

But neither player got nowhere near as much national attention as Tebow is getting, hence why the anti-Tebow sentiment is that much stronger.

vick was a terrible passer with the falcons. in fact here are his completion percentages for his career:
44
54
50

56
55
52
46

62
59

so vick's only completed 60% of his passes once in his career.

really when did vick become drew brees or brady in passing?

This isn't so surprising -- sports fans tend to be more conservative and more religious than the general populace, and the general populace is already quite religious.

Therefore, a nice, conservative religious guy who seems to make it against the odds is exactly the sort of player a large portion of sports fans would be particularly attracted to.

Must be something to it. My Athiest friends HATE sports.

The NFL is a more pass happy league now than it ever was. Tim Tebow's career completion percentage is 47%.

I don't understand why Young got so much shit either. He deserves another chance as a starter.
Because he was a baby bitch, walked out on his team, and is easily rattled. The opposite of what Tim has done with his team.

Vick isn't much either. He'll never been a top level QB, but as long as he's a threat to run, he'll be a capable player. That won't last much longer, however.

1) just deep balls? His sideline throws are amongst the best I've ever seen. Beyond that, one of the two main explanations for the low completion pct. is his unwillingness to throw interceptions. Turnovers are death. The guy had the highest qb rating in college football.. he's obviously bettrr at throwing the ball than anyone offering an opinion on the guy.
2) ive followed this guy for the last 6 years.. not once have I ever heard him say a word about gays or homosexuality. What the heck? Why does this statement keep coming up? Just because he's a christian means he bashes homosexuals/ity?

I'm just glad my team is getting attention for once even if it is because of 1 player. I still remember the 05 afc title game when it was Pittsburgh talk all fucking week, like they weren't playing anyone at all.

EvilMario

Will QA for food.
He makes better decisions with the football and stays out of prison better. So there's two things.

46% completion, 12 TDs vs 6 INTs and 6 fumbles, two lost, and took 33 sacks in 11 games. He completed over 55% of his passes once (66.7 vs Minnesota) and over 50% four times.

But yeah, he stays out of prison and probably treats dogs better which I am all for!

well then why isn't vick completing 60% of his passes in a pass happy league? because he's always been inaccurate.

and on tebow, he hasn't played a full season yet in the league. it's not out of the realm of possibility that he will improve moving forward. i don't think it's a particularly crazy statement to think tebow will have a better nfl career than michael vick, a guy who's never been a winner in the nfl.

I do not avoid women, GAF, but I do deny them my essence.
Must be something to it. My Athiest friends HATE sports.

I'm atheist and hate sports too. I like Tebow as a person, but I hate the implications of his popularity and a possible furthering of the assumption that you can only be a decent person if you're religious.

For instance, in the past when I've told a conservative I was an atheist the reaction was that my parents did a bad job raising me and they didn't understand how I managed to be a decent human being without fearing God.

Like... fucking sucks.

For over 100,000 years humans were throwing rocks at each other. Death was rampant. People couldn't even farm. Even today, with all our mastery of resources and technological advancement, parts of the world are still hellish to live in.

But this year, it all changes. This year, God has decided to act. To help Tim Tebow score his touchdowns. Because he's so fucking special.

Is that why Vick has a better QB rating, less fumbles and a higher completion percentage? Tim Tebow shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with ANY Probowl caliber QB.

3) vick has a much better team and more nfl experience .. and yet who's in the playoffs?

(Now I'm not going going to compare him to montana, elway, or even lord brady.. but contemporaries who haven't won the whole thing? Those are legitimate comparisons).

"He is who he claims to be! A child of God. It’s amazing how the world can’t grasp that relationship. But then again maybe not. The world is still looking for the answer. Well…Tim’s got the answer and he isn’t ashamed to show it. His Faith & Belief in God has taken him to heights unknown to most. What an inspiration, what a role model, especially in times like these. He’s one of a kind. Time will tell how and only God knows where this all takes him. As for me…I’m just along for the ride! Thank you Tim Tebow for giving us all something to look up to and forward to. You Rock! Keep the Faith!!"

It's funny reading shit like this, especially the bolded. God didn't "take him to heights unknown," being a great football player did.

I give him about 5 years before he ends up in some epic scandal. The super Christians always end up falling the hardest.

What the fuck is this?

Are you also pulling the "this pro athlete is better than you so you can't criticize" card?

Tebow seems to have the work ethic to want to improve. Hopefully he can get better and continue to do what he loves.

I think too much of the hoopla is fabricated. Media refuses to just let hiim be a young quaterback in the playoffs. It's annoying to see someone such as AJ Yates get ignored.

That's what I'm saying. Tebow's season isn't nearly as noteworthy as Warner's '99 season.

Led the league in TD passes and QB rating, went 13-3, won MVP, won the Super Bowl, won Super Bowl MVP. Thanked Jesus every step of the way.

The difference?

Warner was bagging groceries before he hit the NFL, not a two-time NCAA champion. Everyone already knew who Tebow was, and wanted Tebow to fail like so many other made-for-college QBs, and he hasn't (yet).

Also, compare/contrast the pic of Tebow with his lady friend with the Warners, and tell me who has more sex appeal:

I don't remember anyone ever giving a shit about Reggie White being a minister, and he was a) far more outspoken than Tebow about his faith, and b) a far more dominant player on much better teams. Same with Kurt Warner:

Most of the Tebow hate boils over from him being hated in college and him being very mediocre in several of his starts this year. If JJ Reddick had become a Robert Horry-like clutch player in the NBA right out of school he'd be one of the most talked about players in the league too.

His popularity stems from him being a winning college QB at a big-time program, the Broncos' unfathomable winning streak (in one of the worst divisions in football), his unorthodox style (the Broncos running the option not as a gimmick but as a gameplan which is almost never done in the NFL), being good-looking, and last but certainly least because he's an "aw-shucks" poster child for Christian America.

What? Reggie White is a minister?

This is pure bullshit.I refuse to believe anyone would actually believe this.

Edit: LOL Using his QB rating in college.

The funny thing about the whole Tebowmania is that the kid literally NEVER gets out of his lane. He doesn't do any talking or proselytizing about his faith (not in the way people like to suggest), or talk about how awesome a person or player he is. He just plays football, leads, fucks up (often - he's a young QB in the pros, right?) and wins.

I like Tim Tebow, and naturally as a Patriot hater I hope he wins. I hope he keeps developing as a pro player and eventually can be taken seriously as a QB in the pros. I've never seen such vitriol for someone kneeling down ever. Nobody says shit when players thank God, or when teams do prayers in the huddle or after games. There are players in these pro sports who are ACTUALLY ministers and shit...but only Tebow is beating you over the head with his faith by not talking about it unless asked.

I have no dislike of Tebow as a person or a football player. I dislike the media and the delusional fans hyping him up like he is even an average NFL QB. I dislike that an entire offensive system was built around him when there have been many more talented QBs that did not get the same treatment or opportunity as he was given.

I like Tebow and the hype around him. I root for him in all his games and I'm not even a christian; I'm agnostic. I hope he can make it to the superbowl so his critics can shut up. This is his rookie season so what he has done so far is pretty amazing.

People comparing him to Vick in this thread are ridiculous though. Vick is a much better QB than Tebow.

Tebow is a great person that just happens to be on the biggest stage of American sports. No, God does not care if he wins and loses. But Tebow gives praise to God every chance he gets, which rubs many people the wrong way. I love the guy, more power to him!

Tebow was recognized by 3 percent of Americans surveyed as their favorite active pro athlete, placing him above Kobe Bryant (2 percent)

Well of course, after all there are more Christians than rapists...

Is that why Vick has a better QB rating

Vick has a career QB rating of 80. Tebow has a career QB rating of 75. Neither ratings are good. The difference, of course, is that Vick's career rating is over the span of 9 NFL seasons and over 100 games. Tebow's is over the course of 2 seasons and 19 games. Assuming Tebow lasts 9 seasons and over 100 games, lets come back here and examine what he has grown into. At this point, roughly 14 starts into his career, Vick's rating was a 78. That means over his last 7 seasons, his play has progressed to a level of 2 points better LOL.

MWS Natural said:

His completion percentage 14 starts in was 53%. Over Vick's first two seasons he had 15 fumbles to Tebow's 14.

Seems like a just comparison imho. So Vick progressed into what you'd call a "Pro Bowl caliber QB" but Tebow cannot?

Wow, I had no idea that Vick progressed so little over his career in Atlanta. It literally took him going to prison and falling to the Eagles and Marty coaching him for him to become a respectable QB.

I know it was a long time ago, but the wildcat was a pretty big fad in the NFL a few seasons ago.
