I'm SOOOO excited for the Tekken 7 announcement. I just hope they make some changes to bring back the feel of T5DR/T3 and to bring in more players.

1. Get rid of bound.
2. Movement as fluid as T5DR.
3. Make advanced movement options more accessible.
4. Make the move list shorter.

Oh, and bringing back the pre-match movement from T4 would be nice!

Bound is the sex. Anything that gives options comparable to launch-juggle for days is a good thing.

Just checked the top 8 for BlazBlue and am happy to see two Azraels. :D

EDIT: Oh, nice. Snake Eyez is in winners of top 8. Good stuff. Good luck to him!
Hmm... I see Mew2King is using Marth? I need him to win, then. I <3 Marth.

Combos in fighting games are getting out of hand these days, wouldn't mind them getting shorter. Feels like I'm watching a combo video every few seconds in Tekken, MVC3 etc.

A few noob questions about Blazblue:

1. Surprised at the number of entrants for Blazblue, is the turn-up for events that high or is it a result of the increased pot?
3. Is this expected to be the last entry in the series? Any rumblings of releases on other platforms?

Thanks
Turnouts for BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma were always high. In most majors this year, it had the 4th highest turnouts, after Street Fighter, Marvel, and Super Smash Bros. The big bonuses probably convinced more Japanese to come out though.
There will very likely be more games, regardless of whatever stupid stuff ArcSys says. It's their biggest franchise, bigger than GG ever was and still is, in Japan at least.

Aww man, today is the day where logic becomes completely lost, and I am going to bathe in this lack of conscious decision making.

Blazblue - I'm really surprised to see characters like Nu and Tager in a Top 8, but Dogura the player is in Top 8? That man had a Robo-Ky. He is certifiably insane, so he's the perfect man to take EVO.

KI - No XBone, so no way to play this game, but stuff like this makes me want it. I'm happy to see a Jago in Top 8, since nobody thought it to be real, but this is clearly Justin and Rico going to duke it out over the Supreme Victory.

Smash - I have no idea how to play Smash properly. It is something that neither my dexterity nor my familiarity with more conventional fighters can properly comprehend. I would rather play that game for fun,. But I used to play Jigglypuff hard in 64, so I'm rooting for Hungrybox to sleep his troubles away.

MAHVEL - Yes. This is a stacked deck of Top 8. Chris G/Marn is gonna be an epic rematch for sure. If Marn can pull that off again, the roof will be blown the hell off. I know I wanted Rayray to win, but this time, I can clearly say he is outmatched. It's probably going to be Filipino Champ taking the crown for a 2nd time.

Ultra - Not really a stacked deck like Marvel is, but it's all the more reason to believe an American has this in the bag. Ricky always has solid play to deliver, and once upon a time, he managed to hang with MAX Level Daigo. Not to mention Snake Eyez, the destroyer of dreams. I want to root for Momochi to take it, but it's clear that Sako cannot be stopped. He has too many pocket characters and too much execution and knowledge to be stopped. It will be a Herculean effort to knock Sako down.

I heard that people find it reasonable to have it first because that's the earliest the Japanese can watch it before they go to sleep.

It would be more reasonable to have it be second to last if we were catering to the Japanese.

But we all know this isn't about that.

NVM! Just make the combos shorter.
This I agree with wholeheartedly. Taking away viable options to create them is silly, though. It is wonderful havng different types of combos. The door opens to making the cast even more diverse, with specializations in specific types, as well as the other aspects of play. Zafina as a movement + bound specialist would make sense, for instance, whereas Kaz would be a counterhit juggle monster. But combos as a whole definitely need to be shorter. I don't even think this necessitates them being more difficult to execute. It just opens the door for the mechanics that lead into them being even more central to play. And I think that's an awesome thing.

Okay, that sounds pretty good. I should revise my point and just say "make combos shorter". Keep bound for characters where it makes sense (Ex. Zafina & Lei to make their stances more useful and more wall carry) and don't give it chars like Bruce and Lee.

SFcacaTekken was a failure, I don't see Namco trying to make one of those. I predict Tekken 7 will have some SF characters.

Top 8 Winners

Jan vs. RG|Filipino Champ
EG|JWong vs. RG|Flocker

Top 8 Losers

GG|NYChrisG vs. MRN|Marn
CTRL|RayRay vs. HOC.BIFU|Insaynne

Thanks. The usual suspects.

This sounds like someone who believes in two different things.

Gackt and Bonchan have good shots at winning, even though they aren't brand names like the four you mentioned.

I'd love to play KI, but I can't justify an X1 for just one game, especially considering I have a hefty PS+ catalog that would do well on a PS4. Its fun to watch KI, though.

SF4

Who I want to win: Sako or Snakeyez
I want to believe: Louffy
Who I expect to win: Bonchan or Fuudo

Gackt has the potential to win but I feel like he will choke.
Ricky....I dunno.

Seriously ? Ultra SFIV Top 8 is as much stacked as Marvel one, if not more.

I can agree some of them may lack the popularity of the usual suspects, but in term of raw fighting power, absolutely not.

1. the pot may have helped but it was announced a bit late, so the entrants is really mostly BB people that just wanted to play, if anything the increased pot just helped a little
2. its mostly on srkevo2 stream just after smash
3. no this isnt the last entry, and this is pretty much a PS exclusive

1. Probably the money, but BBCP now that it's patched is just a fantastic game also.
2. http://www.twitch.tv/srkevo2/b/546876227 at around 6h35m
3. It's not the last at least. Next one will be a while probably but the story is not yet finished. It recently released on Vita as well but that's it.

Awesome, thanks for the insights everyone.

Marvel being stagnant works into its favor. People want a story associated with these games, and its easier to have one with the same faces involved.

In Ultra you have cases like Ex Pugera getting 9th place and he destroyed 3 Yuns in the tournament. He's the best Japanese Ibuki in the arcade ranking but no one in the West knows who he is. People will talk more about Daigo getting 64th place.

I am no Gief player - never have been, and am more than somewhat disinclined to ever be. That said, I hope Snake Eyez runs a Siberian Train all over the top 8 in Ultra.
