I think the important thing to take away from this, is that there is a relationship between the two. That is all. Im talking Disney and Ewan.

It's not like him coming back to play Obi-Wan necessitates a pre-existing relationship between him and the parent company.

He's already played the role once. That's the relationship.

What if it's basically Ted-esque animatronic/cgi stuffed animals.

There's all kind of questions though, right? Like, do they look like cartoons? Do they animate like cartoons? Do they look like real animals? Like real stuffed animals? Do they look like stuffed versions of the animated characters?

It's Disney, and Pooh still sells merch, so I doubt they stray that far from their established looks.

So obi wan the movie is in the works, cool.

Also if disney's live action output hadn't been so good I'd be real worried about this. I still am, but I hope it's an adult version of the Where the Wild Thing Are movie

Like he has a breakdown at work and flees to his childhood sanctuary and fucking destroys his imaginary friends at baseball

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Hook is not a good movie and the contingent of people who watched it when they were 8 and still don't realize that is very weird.

Its weird as I hated Hook as a kid and actually appreciated it a lot more as an adult. Its a supremely strange movie but I have to admit Spielberg and crew didn't flinch away from following through on the basic premise. Its also a very pretty film and the soundtrack is pretty good as well.

The premise does sound an awful lot like Hook, but at least the world of Winnie the Pooh doesn't really lend itself to the kind of bloated excess that film was guilty of, potentially sparing us of another messy production. Mark Forster is a big red flag, though: that guy has done a great job of failing upwards, and it is a little surprising that he's still getting big films even after how much everyone hated his guts on World War Z. Money talks and bullshit walks, I suppose.

There's a biopic coming later this year that centers around the relationship that AA Milne had with the real life Christopher Robin, but I expect that's probably going to be the usual gentle biopic template to a T.

Sounds way too close to Hook for me (which a few good scenes and a good score aside I consider a bit crap).

Hopefully they can deliver something better but the whole "he's grown up and lost his imagination..." angle rarely plays well in execution.

It is lame. It's one of Spielberg's worst films. Bottom three.

For whatever reason self-proclaimed '90s kids fucking love it.

It's a generational thing, I guess.

(has a really good John Williams score, though!)

I had to see that fucking thing 50 times because it was the movie that the camp counselors at my after school program would play ad nauseaum...

I hate that fucking thing

The score is really what elevates it. Spielberg was making a Disney Channel afternoon feature, but Williams brought his A game.

What a great Hook.
