Exclusive PS2 RE 4 features confirmed?

PSM magazine reported that the PS2 version of RE4 will have new cutscenes, new weapons and new costumes not available on the GC version.

Of course, making the brilliant decision of revelaing this before the GC version is released means you are actually going to erode your own sales. It wouldn't surprise me either if, after the release of the PS2 version, we see an "RE4: Director's Cut" for the GC.

I could really care less. There is no feature that they can put in any version of the game that's going to change my mind. This is one of the best games I've played in a long time...And I'm going to play the version that comes out first. I'm not waiting a year for a freaking costume.

There has to be a Dante costume for Leon, there just has to be.

Uhm, buddy? You've got some of Sony's jizz dribbling off your chin.

The new cutscenes is probably the only reason to justify a purchase, oh the new weapons as well.

This throws a monkey wrench in to this port thing, could Capcom have started a build on the PS2 from the ground up?

If this is true, then I really have to question Capcom for revealing this before the GC has even been released. It's like they want to sabotage their own sales.

Anyway, from my experience, many times these extras feel tacked on, and I prefer the original version. And since it's almost guaranteed that the GC version will look better, I'm going with that one.

Doesn't need to mean anything. Both viewtiful Joe and Tales of Symphonia for PS2 came out 9-12 months later than the Gamecube version and had extra content.

There is absolutley NO reason to wait for the PS2 version with the GCN version mere weeks away. The game is going to be fantastic. A couple of new weapons or costumes isn't enough to warrant waiting an extra month, nevermind an entire year. I could see if you're a RE fanatic, getting both versions, but everyone should pick up the GCN one upon its release.

What I was thinking about was the new cutscenes, wouldn't a port from the GC make introducing new cutscenes even more difficult, unless the cutscenes are from the GC versions and were cut due to time constraints or a storage problem.

dunno. At this point we know nothing. All we know is that the GC version is less than 1 month away, and that the PS2 verion wont release simultaneous.

Buddy, we already know that, ok? So can you Nin-fans finally stop the damage-control?
The important thing is: Every PS2 gamer without a GCN won't buy a GCN anymore (for Resi4)! Why? Because they know it is coming for PS2!
That's it!

You forgot one feature: PSOne Graphics
Poor guy...

Personally I'm gonna rent RE4 for GC, then buy the superior PS2 version at the end of the year
That sounds like a great idea. I'll probably wait for da drop before I get it. For GC that is (since I have REmake and REZero for it).

Hopefully the RE4 GC version puts up respectable numbers anyway...
I think it'll do slightly better than the previous GC games (around 500-600k or so) but nothing spectacular. If Nintendo's smart they'll "convince" Capcom to make it a $19.99 PC release right when the PS2 version's ready late next year.

It would have been nice if Nintendo could've "convinced" Capcom to make RE2/RE3/RE CVX $19.99 titles.

They didn't have a budget scheme in place for RE2/3.... though really, Capcom should've just bundled them for $39.99 then (Capcom USA wanted to releases them at $19.99 iirc). CVX was $29.99 iirc, though it probably should've been lower.

I think it will do around 400K at best(in Jan NPD). That would be good numbers for the cube at current state.

Naw, I'm thinking more along the lines of 200-300k in January, 500-600k for the year, 800k-1M lifetime (depending on the GCN market through 2006 and how quick it hits PC). If the speculations turns out true, and GC gets a "Perfect Version" alongside the PS2 release that could dent sales slightly too.

If you own a Gamecube as well as a PS2, and you can watch IGNs "Shinji Mikami plays RE4" videos, AND not buy this on the first console it hits, even if you pick it up again later..

then God help you.

The upgrades mightnt even be any good. And we're talking nearly a year here. The game looks like one of the best this gen... at least the footage I've seen. I can't wait!

...except, no, I've got to wait. Cos I live in Europe. Come on March!!!

oh you mean 500-600K for the year? I thougth you meant for january :)

Then I agree with you. I would say 300K max at january.

Don't get angry at him because your stuck getting the PS2 version because you ONLY own a PS2. People on this board have been saying "Wait for the extras, wait for the extras", like they were worth waiting 9 months for and this confirms that the extra content is shit compared to waiting. That's all that he's stating. If you have a problem with that then don't come on the boards after January 11th until the PS2 version comes out because people are going to be having fun with the game and posting about it. Sorry we all can't be "hardcore" like you and only own a PS2. :lol

Do yourself a favor and buy multiple systems and then you don't have to get stuck getting the crappy version. By October I'll have already beaten RE4 a couple of times and will be moving onto Zelda and Xenon so I really don't care what casual gamers will be doing or what system they will be picking up. And if your waiting for the "complete" version you might as well just not buy the game since we all know that they'll make a Cube Director's Cut version and then they'll probably make it a launch title for Xenon. :lol

Yeah and would it be worth waiting another year again if a future xbox version was announced for 2006 including extra content?

NO!

Orignals > ports

Well to be totally honest if someone only owns a PS2 then they might as well wait it out.

new costumes (really, is this even a big deal) and new weapons (eh) are pretty worthless extras. The extra cutscenes might have been a big deal if I knew I wouldn't be able to go to REfan and download videos of them.

Extra jaggies too!

The game is also going to be 10% longer with no new content on the PS2 because of the load times

Exciting new Slow down!

Eevn though this is true, people will wait regardless.
