Srsly guys, gotta use bit of sanity here, we can tell roughly what specs ps5pr0 might/will have if we look at current amd tech and we compare it to ps4pr0 and base ps5.
We getting 8cores/16threads cpu, very likely highly downclocked r7 7700 with less cache, same way ps5 base cpu was highly downclocked r7 3800x, for simple reason= power limit.
Ps5pr0 gonna be a console so obviously will be 220-250W tdp max.
Current game engines dont use more than 8C16T as we got proof simply by newest amd cpu 7800x3d being fastest, yes in many cases even faster from similar cpu with 3d cash that has more cores/threads and is much more expesnive, aka r9 7950x3d.
Now about gpu- highly likely gonna be produced on upcoming 3nm tsmc node, and it has to be mass produced so cant be too expesnive nor too big, which means it will be very likely cutdown chip vs what amd gonna have to offer as their best- it will be downclocked/downvolted too just so it doesnt surpass 220-250W tdp as a SoC (combo of cpu and gpu on same chip).
Now specific performance of that gpu= we dont know till we get to know how good next gen amd cards are, obviously it should be around 2x stronger vs base ps5 same like ps4pr0 was over 2x stronger vs base ps4 but we dont have details and no1 knows them except those few sony engineers working on research and development-testing prototypes and stuff like that.
There is still plenty time to get actual official specs, remember console wont launch sooner than holiday 2024 so 1,5years from now on, plenty time for stuff to change, but using reasoning there is no way in hell ps5pr0 doesnt have enough power to at least run games in 60fps while they look like current base ps5 fidelity/resolution mode, so only with that knowledge we can assume at least 2x gpu performance jump and some decent(maybe 50% maybe bit more even) cpu jump, we wont get much vram jump tho, if any.
We will definitely get bigger SSD for the simple reason its tech that got much cheaper/moved forward a lot in last 2,5 years.
Tldr for non techsavy ppl- expect ps5pro to be similar jump in power like ps4pr0 was vs base ps4, so not 1,5 but at least full on double power and in practical terms expect games running like in performance mode but still looking like fidelity mode, price wise its too hard to predict but-again- taking current inflation into account 600$ will be lowest, 800$ will be highest- its premium product but sony wants it still to be affordable and sell well.
IMHO, when the dust settles… prepare to adjust your expectations down or be disappointed. To get the kind of RT quality you see now in PC titles or better at 60 FPS at a somewhat sharp and ghosting free-ish 4K (native or reconstructed) you will need XSX2 or PS6… you need more advanced HW support and faster performance and devs making exclusive games for it… PS5 Pro will get bruteforced PS5 titles, so “just” 2x the performance will not go a long way and if they do add AI/ML acceleration it better be transparent to devs (which will limit it too).Sounds reasonable ..but what about RT performance? Also, probably not going to have anything like Tensor cores right?
Nope, way too early, would jeopardise base ps5 sales for next 1,5 year, expect teaser/leaks to come next year spring/summer time, not speculations but credible leaksIf a pro is coming next year, we should get a teaser in the showcase, right?
this is in order of how it comes up in the video, so that's why it's sometimes all over the place
-Take 2 boss guy said "we will probably see Pro models"
-no dev kits are out according to the same guy (but could be an NDA thing why he said that)
-new hardware RT and upscaling tech by sony patented that wouldn't be possible on PS5 hardware, possibly console refresh features, could be PS6 tho.
-he as info of the existence of a new Xbox Zen4/RDNA3 chip design possibly using AI acceleration hardware, they work with AMD on hardware like this (could also be for Windows)
-according to RGT's sources the PS5 Pro is 2x faster in raster, 2.5x faster in RT.
-one of his sources isn't sure if the console wasn't cancelled mid development. because the chip used for early versions wasn't further updated.
could be it's cancelled or could be that they switched to a completely different design to get newer features.
-PS5 Pro also supposedly uses Zen 4 and RDNA3, faster memory, but aside form that also an additional 2nd tempest engine, which is considered to be implemented supposedly to be used for additional raytracing calculations, specifically for BVH calculations.
-one of the reasons his sources heard the PS5 Pro was cancelled is cost.
the system would apparently be extremely expensive ($700).
-the RDNA3 inside the consoles is apparently tweaked to better support backwards compatibility to base consoles.
Tensor cores are nvidia only, we gotta see next gen amd gpu architecture, so rdna4, to have some reasonable info on how ps5pr0 rt performance gonna look like, ofc it will be much better from ps5/xbox series x but how much better depends on how much progress amd gonna make.Sounds reasonable ..but what about RT performance? Also, probably not going to have anything like Tensor cores right?
If a pro is coming next year, we should get a teaser in the showcase, right?
Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification, G!Nope, way too early, would jeopardise base ps5 sales for next 1,5 year, expect teaser/leaks to come next year spring/summer time, not speculations but credible leaks
We already got template how its gonna look by simply checking how it was with ps4 pr0 announcement- 6th sept 2016, and its launch- same year 10th november.
So to put it simply barely over 2 months from annoucment to launch, ofc leaks happened few months prior but still, nothing was official till 2 months before actual launch.
Unfortunately a very common misconception. The funny thing is that the name Tensor isn't even creative or original.Tensor cores are nvidia only, we gotta see next gen amd gpu architecture, so rdna4, to have some reasonable info on how ps5pr0 rt performance gonna look like, ofc it will be much better from ps5/xbox series x but how much better depends on how much progress amd gonna make.
Atm with rdna 3 they are roughly on pair with nvidias last gen topcard, when it comes to RT, thats facts, how much more they gonna improve on that depends on for example if they gonna put into gpu rt dedicated hardware, same way with dlss2/3, it has its own dedicated hardware.
Gotta pariently wait and see, back in the older days simple stuff like antisotropic filtering or anti-aliasing were also hard to do/had huge bearing on performance, but with time it got so ez that they are currently almost free options, ofc RT wont be "free" anytime soon but tech is moving forward, who knows, maybe by ps6 or ps7 we will get RT only modes coz it will become cheap/go to option that doesnt take crazy resources anymore- ofc its a dream/and distant future dream at that.
If a pro is coming next year, we should get a teaser in the showcase, right?
Not sure seems like we are getting the one sku detachable disk drive PS5 but it doesn't seem to be a slim modelNo next year. This year will be the PS5 slim.
It will be smaller. Though they likey won't call it the slim. Chances are, its APU is going to be built on the 5/6nm process. That doesn't only mean a smaller APU, it means less power draw, a smaller heat sink, and a smaller PSU. All those size reductions translate to a smaller console. Not sure seems like we are getting the one sku detachable disk drive PS5 but it doesn't seem to be a slim model
As it stands, DRS and VRR kinda literally mean a Pro console can just sot into whatever the PS5 is doing. It sounds like they're trying to be smarter with the pro models. If it literally just unlocked a new pro performance and quality mode it would be ideal. Much better than the half-assed support we got with the PS4 pro.
true ps3 backwards compatibility isn’t happening accept itHopefully with more horsepower we get true PS3 BC, which would make for a nice premium feature.
The truth is that I don't even think there will be a pro at all.If there is a PS5 pro it will be relased by later 2024 or early 2025...current PS5 is selling pretty well and it will keep the trend along 2023 thanks to current games and FF16 boost.
Xbox otherwise should release a pro this year...ate least this would give a reason for core players to play 3rd p. games on it ...
To answer your question (which has been stated numerous times) the PS4 Pro was made because Sony had internal data showing about midgen people started migrating to PC and the Pro was made to keep people in the ecosystem, Sony stated that publiclyThe truth is that I don't even think there will be a pro at all.
The whole point of the PS4pro/XB1X was to allow for `4K` gaming... which the OG consoles simply couldn't do.
What would be the point of Pro consoles now? When as it stands, any game that you can make run at 4K30fps, even if that means you are using reconstruction and running at 1440p natively, you can also run that same game at 60fps with a reconstructed 4K output with the current-gen consoles. I just don't see it.
What people fail to remember is that the OG PS4, pretty much remained a 1080p console for the entirety of the previous gen. I expect these consoles to remain 4K@30fps consoles for the entire duration of this gen. And if they can do 4K@30, they can do 1080p@60... at least.
Very soon possibly today even
To answer your question (which has been stated numerous times) the PS4 Pro was made because Sony had internal data showing about midgen people started migrating to PC and the Pro was made to keep people in the ecosystem, Sony stated that publicly
Regarding the PlayStation 4 Pro, he suggested the Xbox wasn’t even being considered its main competition. Rather, it was the PC. “I saw some data that really influenced me,” he said. “It suggested that there’s a dip mid-console lifecycle where the players who want the very best graphical experience will start to migrate to PC, because that’s obviously where it’s to be had. We wanted to keep those people within our eco-system by giving them the very best and very highest [performance quality]. So the net result of those thoughts was PlayStation 4 Pro – and, by and large, a graphical approach to game improvement.”

As far as a PS5 Pro there is plenty of room for game improvements and unless games are running 4k 120fps then we can use more power not to mention what it might do for the PSVR2
spec?Very soon possibly today even
Will be interesting to see who drops info first
Well you said today, he said this week. I wasn't the best at math but today is earlier than this week, so... You?Will be interesting to see who drops info first
I wont drop any info even if I had it I just know a couple of other people have gotten said infoWell you said today, he said this week. I wasn't the best at math but today is earlier than this week, so... You?
All we need is Dragon Ball Z power levels.I wont drop any info even if I had it I just know a couple of other people have gotten said info
In all honesty when it comes to things like this I don't even want to know exact specs before hand
Do you know if it’s something like ps4 to ps4 pro in term of jump, cause it was pretty important? Are there games ready to take advantage of this power?I wont drop any info even if I had it I just know a couple of other people have gotten said info

Only thing I have heard is huge boost to ray tracing performanceDo you know if it’s something like ps4 to ps4 pro in term of jump, cause it was pretty important? Are there games ready to take advantage of this power?
So proprietary hardware? Since RDNA 4 will be out until next year, and AMD solution is just brute forcdOnly thing I have heard is huge boost to ray tracing performance
That’s hot!Only thing I have heard is huge boost to ray tracing performance
The PS5 pro will never happen because their isn’t a reason for it to exist. The only reason we got a PS4 pro was due to 4K. The PS5 pro doesn’t have a strong enough value proposition for it to be marketable. 4K/60 FPS with RT is the only benefit I can see with a pro and that’s not enough for most people to want to buy into the console.
Heck, we barely even have games that is pushing the current PS5 lol
