The thing people forget is that its not like development is an unstoppable train from the moment it gets greenlit.

Some times things go well, some times not so good. But people still need to get paid, so the publisher or whoever else is holding the bag needs to be reassured that they haven't bet on dud.

Its a constant battle because, let's say a project is falling below expectation. What's the plan? Intervene? Trust the team to get things back on track? Dial back the marketing push in order to cut potential losses?

So the longer the time, the longer the potential for uncertainty.
 
Yeh devs times are way too long these days. dose every game need to be open world, would love too see more liner games. Also why don’t we see more AA games.
