Frank and Sons is open right now but I don't have the money to spend on MTG cards. I'll make due with organizing my current deck.

Edit: There's flirting happening right now. Let's see where this goes.

Beach day!

Looks like fun. I'm jealous, it's been raining all day here. :(

Going to retro game store now

Bye

Yo that's my thing.. Stop stealing my things, people...

It's nearly impossible to get good deals on retro games anymore because stores will just check the price on ebay before selling it to you, but every now and then you might get lucky

Look out for Demon's Crest

Yard sales are where the deals are. But they are mostly populated with 360, ps3, ps2, and gamecube games these days

Demon's Crest has sort of become the holy grail for me. I've been trying to get it for like 2 years and in that time the price has only gone up (by like 30% or more). I guess I could afford to just pay the going rate, but for some reason I won't. I guess it's more than I feel comfortable spending on an SNES game right now.

It's the holy grail not just because it's hard to find, and not just because it's a great game, but because it represents childhood wish fulfillment. I always wanted to play this game as a kid but never got to.

I used to spend hours in retro stores as a kid just looking at things, even if I couldn't afford them. SNES games were insanely pricey even back then.

I had it but it got stolen with Mario Kart and Uniracers. smh

haha uniracers... my cousins had that and we'd play it all the time when they came over. There are probably a handful of people on earth who put dozens of hours into Uniracers

Fuck the latest episode of Game of Thrones RITA.

explain why

is it because of the
stupid ass time paradox bullshit they pulled
I was so pissed about that that I damn near started trolling the OT

That game was pretty fun as simple as it was really. Sucks about the whole Pixar's shit that happened later.

I also want Secret of Evermore which is a bit more attainable. Looks to be "only" in the $35 range.

It'd be nice to own Chrono Trigger but.. It's with Demon's Crest in the "fuck that" price range.

I'm also nervous about repros when it comes to really high profile sought after games

GBA games shopping on ebay was/is nearly ruined by the abundance of repros even though it was easy to spot them in person (all you need is a good light source to check for the Nintendo logo on the board). But on ebay it was always a guessing game if a given listing was a repro. Some were pretty obvious, but other times you just had to guess.

SNES games are harder to check since you have to take the game apart to be sure (I think).

Demon's Crest is...ok. Felt really middle-of-the-road to me.

IMO Demon's Crest was perfect in what it did IMO. The game is actually the right length (Some might find it on the short side), the combat is fun, the graphics were pretty damn good and flying all over the place at the time was really damn good. It's one of those underrated games I love from snes along with Actraiser, Uniracers and some others.

They have battletoads NES in the box for $80

Overpriced. That's worth $60 on ebay

See what I mean. Retro game stores are just.. Like, why bother going to a physical location to pay ebay prices? You could pay ebay prices without leaving home.

My friend caught them [his retro game store] sleeping and got a good deal on a saturn (or was it sega cd? I forget) game once.. But generally you're looking at ebay prices, which is unfortunate

It's going to be awhile for SNES games to come down in price. NES games are just now coming back down. N64 is on the rise.

There is a Nintendo tax for anything retro. Even Nintendo pong consoles fro. The 70s go for triple it's contemporaries.

Thats a nice retro game haul. My N64 is my only retro game console. I went to friends houses for the others.

I'd kill for a mobile port of Night Trap

Yeah SNES prices are a shame. I don't care about N64 though because the console and most of its games were trash (and ugly as sin).

I got nothing valuable and some games are missing in the picture cause my bro has them and I aint gonna be looking where they are in his room.

nice collection, but why two copies of NBA Jam Tournament Edition? :)

and also why 2 copies of DKC1.

My aunt gave me her SNES which had those 2 games and Mortal Kombat 2. (I think there is also another Mario All Stars but too lazy to check the pic)

N64 had some real gems. Mischief Makers, Fighter's Generation, Chameleon Twist, Space Station Silicon Valley... obviously excluding the good first party games here.

I do feel like it is the weakest Nintendo system next to the Wii U, though.

The N64 was awesome, what the hell man.

And Rare games, in fact Rare was at their prime on the N64.

I can easily play and enjoy and admire a good NES or SNES game right now in the present day. I can't say the same for N64.

N64 had a slight novelty when it came out, but even then as a kid I was annoyed by how blurry and choppy the games were. It felt like a step down in most ways from previous systems when games could have a lot of detail and fluidity (being 2d sprites/backgrounds).

Look at Super Metroid. Even now it looks really cool. Moody, detailed, crisp, smooth, stylish. It had a soul. What game on N64 compares to that? I look at any N64 game now and I just see an absolute mess.

I just don't like N64.

I mean, I get what you're saying and I even totally agree about SNES games aging much more gracefully, but there are still games on N64 you can enjoy even with the bad visuals.

Mystical Ninja Goemon is another one.

Yeah there were issues with the N64, and by choppy Turok 2 is one of the worst, I mean I just played it recently and the framerate was a nightmare at times. But the system itself still had a great library, not up to the standards of NES and SNES, but good enough to make it a worthwhile experience.

Thankfully Ultra HDMI N64 exist to remove the blurriness with it's de blur option.

Pixel art ages a lot better than 3D models. 3D modeling got progressively better as time went on, while the pixels went from a technological limitation to its own art form.

Only PS2 games I held onto were Dragon Quest 8 (one of my favorite games ever), Shadow of the Colossus (another of my favorite games) Rogue Galaxy, and Odin Sphere.

Incidentally Odin Sphere for PS4 with remastered art and stuff is coming out in a week. :O I love this game.

N64 has the best couch party games and collectathon platformers. Didn't have many games but a lot more classics compared to the overall amount
