Shining Fansubs just released the first episode of My Hime...
I didn't like it from the promo (too much fan service...) but the hype it's getting in this is good enough to give episode 1 a look.

I completely missed this. Is there anymore info? An Akira tv series could easily be one of the BEST anime of all time. At least of the ones I've watched.ThirstyFly said:

I just watched the promo of Gankutso (Count of Monte Cristo).... Doesn't look very good right now. They're changing the setting of the story to a futuristic Paris. You can see space ships in the trailer and huge mechas duking it out in space....
The count himself looks kinda... demonic. Just not human. Actually most people looked like that. Reminds me of the nobles in Wolf's Rain which I guess isn't that bad...
Oh and good luck to anyone trying to d/l Mai Hime. There's one seed for almost 1600 leechers. I'm at 54.4% now.

That being said I thought Gunbuster 2 ep1 was pretty good
The FLCL style backgrounds (orange skies with smoke clouds) were pretty, the action was pretty good, and the music was nice. Oh and the main character walked the borderline edge of likeable/annoying without falling into the annoying area so that was good. It's also nice to see a Gainax show these days that isn't 80% fanservice shots (more like 5% ). I liked it more than the first 2 eps of RE:Cutey Honey (which were fun, but empty), seriously I saw the original Gunbuster so long ago I can't even remember what it was about so that doesn't really affect my judgement of this.
Only complaint I have against the show is that the CG is still too CGish. I'd rather see giant robots fighting in 2d animation than 3d. Watching 3d things fight each other makes me feel like I'm watching some shitty US animation. Though I'll give Gunbuster 2 credit that the CG is quite good...just still not as good as 2d IMO.

xxxHolic rumor huh? Well CLAMP's gotta be working on something. They dont have anything airing right now I belive. I dont think it will be xxHolic though. Tange Sakura is comming out of retirement, and I can imagine CLAMP wanting her back to do Sakrua for either more Card Captor Sakura episodes, or Tsubasa, since we have a compltly alternate relity with Sakura and Syaoran there.
Saw Mai-Hime, lot different than I was expectiong, which was a good thing. Really enjoyed it, just hope it actually goes somewhere.

CLAMP's just working on their manga (aka. EVERYTHING BUT X). They don't tend to get involved in the anime versions usually. CLAMP adapters at Madhouse though are busy on the XXXholic movie due out in 2005, and yea there will probably be a Tsubasa TV series to tie into it.

Yeah, I forgot xxxholic and tsubasa have a tie in. I havnt read either one yet becasue I'm still finishing up Card Captor Sakura, i Know they arent releasted, but I want to get that out of the way first.

I pretty much meant stylistically, so yeah ;P But I was expecting it to be shit but was pleasantly surprised. Saw the first episode of Bleach subbed today. Started off a bit generic, for some reason I got this frightening Midori no Hibi feeling...didn't like the art-style, but maybe I'll get used to it. The basic set-up felt mildly intriguing, but towards the end there was action at least...and it has potential.
Will it be focused on action (judging from the manga version)? Hope so at least, I need some action anime now.

It's set in a future where the whole world is a desert and the current civilizations are nothing but ruins. Its not a serious anime though. It's as funny and light hearted as an anime can get. SunaBouzu is a desert handy man of some sort that does "jobs. Im not going to spoil it so thats all Im saying. XD

My recommendation:
School Rumble, after watching ep1 its one of the series i'm gonna keep with. Comedy about this main female Tenma liking another boy (he's kinda blah) while the thuggish (biker gang looking) male lead Harima has fallen for her. At times the animation is similar in style to Azumanga.

Out of the two that i've watched so far. Destiny took my breath away. Highly impressive just like Gundam Seed. Bec was also very well done. I've been wanting to see Bleech and Cutie Honey but i just havent gotten to see them (cant find open torrents @_@)
I wish clamp would just come back to Chobits for a miniseries or something That show had it going. Music, Animation, and perfect voice's... not to mention a very beautiful sappy story that even made a man like me cry.

Just wanted to add that Yu-Gi-Oh! GX has started this season, as well, for anyone interested. For me, YGO can actually be somewhat entertaining in its unedited form (and even bizarrely entertaining when it is, though its more of "if nothing else is on TV" sort of thing). I personally don't know much about the new series, but its a 20-years-in-the-future sort of thing.
Probably Gunbuster 2 (very FLCL-ish at times in terms of superficial appearance) and, if you can deal with the style, Gankutsuou (Count of Monte Cristo) is pretty damn cool looking. But I think with Gankutsuou, you pretty much either love the style or it drives you completely nuts.J2 Cool said:
