Can anyone help
me decide who to side with at Bunker Hill? How did it play out for you guys?

I
warned both factions
and it was a glorious gigantic clusterfuck

Tex why u never on steam, stop hiding

Also, they all feel kind of same-y to me for the most part. Kinda a bummer. Probably won't ever visit half of them.

I have to admit, that's one of my complaints with the game. When you're in the city ruins, a lot of it looks the same. I know FO3 wasn't perfect in that regard, either, but it had a lot of big building set-pieces that were at least a bit more distinctive.

So if I make my supply lines into 1 big circle, all of them will share all my supplies I drop off at sanctuary? I made a few supply lines, but they only had like 1% of what I have in sanctuary so I didn't see much use in the system.

I found it easier to just send everyone to sanctuary

Really hoping a GAF'er can help me out with this. I'm trying to find the clothing found in the screenshot:
fallout-4-gamers-have-already-created-famous-characters-we-know-and-love-713202.jpg

I found them once on one of my playthroughs but cannot for the life of me remember where. Anyone know? (or what the item number is so I can spawn one in via console :p)

Oh hey that article is using my character and screenshot! I don't think his head is particularly big though. It's just the angle. Here's a better shot.

That said the only place I know you can get one fairly consistently is from Tinker Tom in the Railroad HQ. He sells the armored variant once ballistic weave is unlocked.

Two big issues with this game that severely impacts my enjoyment of it. I don't know how it was not identified in testing by players.

-How come you cannot see the difference in your current armor and the improvement of armor in your inventory? It is extremely annoying going back and forth seeing the differences between every little piece, right arm, left arm, etc. I have a lot of pieces - I want to know which one I should equip.

- There should be a way to hide repeatable quests. Like the ones that just repeat like to clear areas of Ghouls, etc. Uh, so annoying. I want to do all the side quests but not the repeatable ones.

They should definitely Mark repeatable quests. As of right now you can't even choose to opt into them most of the time - they are just thrown at you simply by entering a conversation, listening to a radio, or over hearing someone else's conversation.

As for the armor rating complaint thing it's something I read a lot but... well.. the game already does that.

It's not the most intuitive thing but the UI does give you all the information you need by telling you what your current breakdown is, your total, what the highlighted armor's values are, what slots the highlighted armor going to use, and what the slot's current values are.

I've only picked up the quest so far, have no idea what to look for and/or where to "follow the freedom trail". I guess anything to point me in the general direction would be helpful!

The starting point is
near the fountain in downtown Boston. Look for a spray painted sign, then look for the trail start.

Thanks for the reply. What's funny is I took a hard look at that right after my post. I could have sworn I was seeing some things inaccurate like it was showing some parts as 0 when I had things equipped, also it is difficult to know if something is equipped on it when you do, like it flashes or something, and hard to know what is being equipped like what side. I understand there going for the antique pip-boy look but I find it hard to use. I'll keep looking at it now though.

Anyone know if making the additional 500 cap investment in stores contributes anything to happiness?

Wait, so will companions pick up weapons and ammo from corpses that you loot but leave the weapons on or something? Multiple times now Piper has all of a sudden had a minigun or modded out shotgun or something else that I most certainly never gave her. It's hilarious but I'm not sure exactly what's happening there. I also usually pick up weapons and ammo off corpses, so I'm almost wondering if she's getting to stuff before I am which would actually be kind of annoying.
I think it's the companions quickly grabbing weapons from people they kill. I've definitely had Nick grab flamers and miniguns before and proceed on a rampage.

So at 150 hours now, 50 of those post finishing the game and delving into building as some of you know, it might be time to call it, at least until the DLC starts coming out (which im buying day 1 for sure).

I am now on my third settlement, which I feel is my best yet, but as the first two, as soon as it gets too big / complex performance starts to take a hit and it bums me out, its like the game tells you its time to stop but I think "wait im not done yet".

On top of that, I now have a second issue, which my building bros might share if you delved into it enough. Your imagination is the limit when it comes to the actual structures, but then there isn't much to actually put inside them, it all ends up looking very samey. Youll have your sleeping quarters, and then your diner or bar area, the obligatory power armor garage / room, and of course your main room with your magazine stands and bobblehead counter and whatnot. And then...yeah thats about with what they give you. Mods to add objects help a bit but less than I hoped. Theres no weapon racks to make an armory for example (or any armory related objects really, at least one of the mods adds ammo boxes)

Dont get me wrong, this is complete first world problem (lol) and its not like I didnt already get my moneys worth out if the game (which is easily my goty) but its always bittersweet when you feel youre done I guess.

Edit: actually now that I'm thinking, as I wrote this I actually did get an idea for an armory with some of the new objects from mods. And I just remembered there are showers in the mod pack, I can make a bathroom / shower area. Also before I left for work I turned down godbrays and shadows but didn't boot up the game again, hopefully that helps with the performance on bug settlements... I just pulled myself back in 10 seconds later didn't I? This fucking game...

By the way those cows that show up in your settlement aparently can destroy objects that you cant in build mode. I saw one knock over one of those small iron posts on the ground next to the diner in the Drive-In

When the geck is released there is going to be a mod explosion. Within a week you will find thousands upon thousands of assets imported from other games while new ones specifically made for Fallout 4 will start creeping in. It's going to take a few weeks until it's finally released but it's going to be glorious.

A lot of people scoff at the notion that mod will fixed the game but, well, mods really do fix these games. The settlement creation tools Bethesda put into the base game is way more important than people realize. The potential is astronomical.

i'm kinda annoyed there's stuff that you just can't grab in build mode just to clear out. That stupid skeleton at the top of the starlight drive in is always gonna be there :T

Oh my god, the Castle.

During the fight to take the castle, I used frag mines to kill mirelurks. I guess one never detonated, so while one of my settlers was walking around, they triggered it and got killed, which made every settler turn hostile on me.

Great, now I have to reload and search for that mine.

If you're playing on PC, you can open the console up, click the skeleton (or anything else that's bugging you) and type 'disable' to get rid.

By the way, some of these 'run through the open world and protect me' missions are hilarious and i'm so glad friendly NPCs get invincibility when they go down because some of them are outright stupid

one of the Railroad quests is to escort some blighter from x to y. The mission dialogue is like, "we're gonna have to get past some raiders"

except when we come across the raiders, they're engaged in battle with some muties. my npc pals then decide in order to keep going we need to kill every single mutie, including a legendary mutie like 15 levels above everybody except me. This was also nowhere near the route we needed to go, but they basically got daisy-chained a few blocks off course by hostiles.

also they got stuck behind geometry for like 2 minutes until i reloaded

Is there any way to make stores fit into enclosed building/house? The Emporium stores, I mean. Please give me pointers if they can. The store stands are too tall for the typical floor-wall-roof setup so I am stumped :(

Would it be possible to build a two-story building and then delete the floors, so it's just a big room?

90 hours in (!) I think I'm about done with this game. The repetition of enter building/kill everyone/loot everything is taking its toll, especially with a lack of real "standout" quests and areas to explore. Just made my "branching" save from where I plan to run down all three quest lines.

Yes, you dont even need to remove floors just stacks walls. Probably going to look too big and empty tho, thats one of the reason im moving away from big multi floor buildings now, they end up feeling very empty I feel

I tried this with a bar (minus the deleting floors bit) and it only sort of works. I built a two-story structure with a partial second floor, leaving a bit pit for the shop to go in. But when I tried to actually place the bar, it seemed to only fit in a spot near the middle of the room, and only in a certain orientation--if it faced any other way or was in some other part of the room, no dice. So I still have my indoors "bar" completely empty of people while the actual storefront is outside. One day I'll figure this out.

The bulding aspect is what tipped the game over into definite goty for me and I thought I would never touch it. And youre right, I keep forgeting these mods arent even using the official tools yet. I should stop using my favorite settlements then and save them for when mod tools are out. Ill finish my third one tho its too far ahead now.

Huh, for some reason my sneak became less effective and not sure why. Maybe it's because I'm heading more to the South East part of the map? Going to try adding some muffled mods to my armor and see if that helps.

I also got Nick stuck in a swimming animation so he swims on land. I also learned he can't fight while swimming.

One thing that bothers me in the settlements is how I have no idea who is assigned to what. I only really know who is assigned to food when I see the food number drop when I select a person to do something.
Have I missed something on the menu screens or is this not something that can be done yet?
PS4 by the way.

I find myself at the branching quest for the main story and I don't really want to go with any of the factions, though I suppose that is sort of the point.

I think Bethesda really just made a skeleton and intestines DLC and modders to take and run with, the real muscle and epidermis will be when the standout mods that will transfer to consoles amd the DLC to really bring out this games potential.

I'll continue to fine tune my character through battle and find the perfect place to make my headquarters after I beat the game, waiting to unleash it on whatever comes out next. Here's hoping for a horde, arena or bounty hunter mode with bounty packs that you can download created by other players.

In build mode, you can hover over a settler and their assignment, if they have one, will get highlighted. But that only works if you have line of sight with their assignment.

It's stupid.

Some people suggested giving settlers certain pieces of clothing when you assign them to help you keep track of who is supposed to be doing what.

Anybody got a fix on how I can stop myself from getting stuck in computer terminals? I found one where you alter the iprefrence=0 bit from redit and managed to get my framerate to 60fps but still, it keeps on crashing and I'm starting to get frustrated with this. I didn't pay 60 bucks for a broken PC game.

I do this. All my fighters have mining hats and armor, farmers have pompadours now because why not.

Awesome... I think I'm just stuck on a main quest thanks ato a ridiculous bug!
I've just
build the teleporter to reach the institute
, but now I have to talk to Elder Maxson before proceed, but the damn guy is inside what is called "boston airport ruins". However, he is locked inside!! I can't access it at all!
I discovered a suppose entrance in the other side of the place, near a beach, however it recquires a key! Can someone enlighten me how to get this "boston airport ruins" key??
I can't access the console commands, cause I'm playing on XB1.
For chirst sake, that's possibly a gaming breaker bug!!

Edit: I used a chair near the place and "waited" for at about 12 hours, after that Maxson appeared outside the room.

I just hit my building limit. I am so disappointed.

Use the gun scrapping glitch to build more. Find as many guns as you can, drop them on the ground in a settlement, then turn on workshop mode and scrap them manually while they're on the ground. You'll see the size meter drop slightly with each one. The game thinks you're taking down building material instead of guns.
