Fallout 4 - Reviews thread

Our review is posted. It is based on the PC (Steam) version of the game. I play tested the PS4/Xbox One versions and compared my experience with the reviewer.

It seems night and day, when mentioning the significant framerate issues that exist on the PS4.

SelectButton - 9/10

If broken piece of shit New Vegas can get 84 metacritic, this won't have any problem reaching 90.

Pretty much. Same goes for Master Chief Collection, it reviewed well as well. And Bethesda games have a history of scoring highly despite what some of us on GAF would call flaws.

Am in work what are GB saying? Seems like a good result; might be tempted to bite earlier than planned. Hopefully a strong cast of interesting characters.

This is a guy I trust, says buy it.

Why did anyone expect this to score any less than a 9/10 from major outlets? At all?

How many times have we been through this with every game in existance.

It doesn't matter how many flaws or what flaws you find, or complaints about regression in systems, buggy performance, etc, the hype train consumes all and 9/10s will be thrown about.

Then in 6-12 months from now we'll start nitpicking the shit out of the game and people will start questioning "Wait why did we think this game was amazing? It's still good but this is nowhere near perfect".

Again, and again, and again.

I'll play Fallout 4, but man, anyone expecting this game to get any less than 90s was in some dream world.

Hey OP, if you're going to make a review thread, it'd be appreciated if you actually put some effort into it. I would have been more than happy to have created a Fallout review thread and updated it throughout the day.

Edit - Ok, you're at least adding some links now.

This is from Sterling's review

There are less city-level settlements and lengthy sidequests overall, with a focus being more on repeatable quests that tie into the settlements you can build. There are still loads, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like the game could have used more traditional quests alongside the repeatable “Clear this area of raiders” ones that pop up

I don't like it :(

Were people here really expecting low reviews for this? Seems that way from reading the first few posts in this thread.

I wasn't expecting low reviews but almost universal 9+ is amazing, can't way till midnight to play!

"A vast and frequently brilliant return to Bethesda's atomic sandbox, but constant technical issues are a frustration."
"Your reaction to Fallout 4 will depend greatly on your expectations. If you're a fan of the series - or at least Bethesda's rebooted first-person take on it - then you'll find everything you wanted, and more. If you despair of Bethesda's creaking game engine, with its frequent glitches, stutters and occasional fatal crashes, then you'll also find everything you feared."
I guess time will tell how bad it is and whether this is just Bethesda getting an easy ride again.

I wish New Vegas got this kind of shackled criticism.

Destructoid

At this point, you're probably aware of Bethesda's history with shipping buggy open-world games by now. If you were hoping that somehow a generational leap would magically buck that trend, prepare to be disappointed. Nearly every classic glitch is accounted for, including occasional save data issues, repeated dialogue, frameskipping, severe frame-rate drops, pop-in, falling through the floor, and so on.

Goddamn it.

Our review is not quite up yet, but here are some FPS videos
PS4:

X1 (keep in mind that the fps goes to 0 if we open a menu or stop moving when reading the gps graph though...)

Overall technically a mess, but after a rough and long start it gets really good.

And they said, "Locked 30 fps"
