Lol I just restarted my game tonight, and that's where I stopped....I even have some "sexy sleepwear" for my character :lol

this does not seem to work, keeps reseting everytime i launch the game.
Same for me, steam will replace Fallout.ini with the original one each time, even though its read only. There are the same settings located in FalloutPrefs.ini that you can change and they keep, but some of them have no effect :( Fallout must be looking at Fallout.ini for those settings. :( :(

Just picked up the game for PS3. I'm loving the atmostphere, but man this game just feels glitchy (seems like there is a framerate hiccup every few seconds while moving).

Did the PC patch fix alot of the issues?

Uhm, help related to an early companion please:

I sent ED-E back to Primm cause I didn't want to accidentally lose him or something, but I can't find him now, I tried looking in Nash's house and the Vicki and Vance Casino but no luck. Where does he spawn? Did he glitch?

Which was the main platform for development for New Vegas? It shits me that the PC version feels so dumbed down and didn't factor in things like resolution and the amount of keys on a keyboard when porting. Biggest annoyance so far is the inventory and lack of subsections or separate bags. I like the game, but hopefully review and feedback actually change the next game.

Obsidian/Bethesda kinda pulled a Blizzard and are leaning on the mod community to fix half their shit. On that note, gonna check out the nexus yet again.

ED-E
was in the back part of Nash's residence for me right next to the bed.

Ugh, is my game glitched?
I'm trying to start "Oh My Papa" but when I talk to the Regis, the quest doesn't pop up and I don't get an option to start it or convince them to fight with the NCR.

The main platform was "Fallout 3" and that's why there are inventory and resolution issues.

When you are on your inventory screen and looking at weapons, what does the bullet icon mean with the number next to it? (the one right about DPS). It's not the ammo count or anything because that is in the lower right corner

ED-E where are you?! I dismissed it to do a sidequest with another companion but I've been visiting Primm every chance I get to re-recruit ED-E and it's nowhere to be found. :(
ED-E why have you left me?!

...anyone know a console command to spawn it? :lol

Well I wrote up my thoughts so far on the game.

http://pepsimanvsjoe.blogspot.com/2010/10/fallout-new-vegassigh.html

Sure I've put a lot of hours into the game but really I'm still trying to figure out why. The "game" as it stands is a mess and all it says to me is that I'm a sucker and an idiot for buying games the day they come out.

I haven't been hit by any of the truly serious errors (like save-corruption) but I'm really regretting the money and especially time I spent. I'm still playing it though cause I want to try a number of things before I really get into reviewing it. If I were to score it right now though it would definitely be around a 3 or so...with the "or so" depending on my mood(I hate doing scores though so that's kinda hypothetical).

Couple questions:

1. Are there any scary or creepy places like in FO3? Something in the vein of the Dunwich Building or the Vault full of Garys is what i had in mind.

2. Is there power armor available or something like it in this game?

So i was saving some guys from the Powder Gang who were tied up by some Legion.

So i killed one of them, took his armor, tried to talk my way out of the situation, see if they could release them. Nothing. I said fuck it lets kill these bitches. I start following them quietly, finding that alone spot to make my stealth kills. 1, 2, 3 dead, 1 remaining. Problem is that he sees me while im killing the 3rd guy, so he starts to run at me. I hide in a tent waiting for the sucker to lose track of me. So there i am at the tent sitting against a wall and i realize he's out of reach, nowhere to be seen, but my status says "[Danger]" and i can hear him talk. After while sitting there realizing the status wont go, i start to stand up and look around, suddenly i look behind my back and..

On #2
You have to do a some quests for the Brotherhood before you're able to get training to wear it.

saved a bunch of money and seriously stat boosted at the doctors.

finally entered vegas and I'm really pleased with just how many plot points there are. I'm all over the map now and (speech at 80, 90 with the sexy nighware). Now I gotta boost my other skills. Its very very crazy how many things/quests there are to do. This shits all over FO3.

re:combat. you guys need to get companion
veronica
girlfriend wears
powera armour
punches a real wallop and makes most of my adventuring easy. I don't even have to do anything vs bugs/buffalo things..etc I let her and the rex do it all.

I've had a few crashes now but the game is really addictive. I just had a 7 hour marathon. Stopped to eat and do stuff :p

Dead

well not really...yet
I randomly decided to talk to Rex, and he "told" me
about a kid named Jimmy who fell in a well. Went to find him and got a Limited Edition BB Gun that is way too overpowered :lol

Killing Powder Gangers has been pretty much my only source of good karma.

Farm Feral Ghouls. They do the same as the Powder Gangers, but don't have a faction attached to get mad at you for killing them.

yeah its bigger than the outside belies. I found the samey tent really annoying. I had to find 1 guy once and couldn't and it pissed me off. But then I decided to stand where I saw him the last time and waited... and he showed up. Searched all over for him too.

dunno but I don't like how DPS/DMG are on the same text box. There's PLENTY of screen real estate to have them not overlap the way the game does it. Weird.

Yes, it is. I had a chat with Bethesda on Friday and they told me that you need to re-speak with the three other Kahn's and then Regis (the "fix" from patch 1). Unfortunately, Melissa is bugged and won't appear anywhere if you've already done the other
drug
quests for her. If you have an earlier save roll back and speak to the three people at the dinner table, then get
the Legion fellow's diary from his room in the hut and use it to expose him/kill him
, create another save game, then proceed from there. Even with that change it may not work properly, so the best bet would be to go back even further and ensure that you don't do Melissa's quests.

Bethesda thought this quest was fixed with patch 1, but now know that isn't, so a real, working fix should hopefully be included with the next update.

I like how the first half of the game is like yeah yeah this is fallout 3 there's some factions, they don't like each other blah blah blah

And then the second half turns into trademark obsidian with tons of hard choices packed in between dozens of morally ambiguous groups.

2nd half is sooooo much better than Fallout 3.

I found the vaults i've been to to be pretty creepy. Also the REPCONN facility creeped me out a bit too.

I'm 20 hours in and haven't gone to Vegas yet. I have the ticket to get in after finishing
The King's
missions in Freeside, but there's so much shit to do man.

Also has anybody managed to make their way up to Jacobstown? It's a fuckin journey man especially with those goddam annoying flying wasp looking things that will take a shit on you in packs. I made it their last night finally and it's a really nice change of scenery from the other places in the game. The city is also inhabited by
friendly Super Mutants
which caught me by surprise.

There's a particular quest in Jacobstown where you have to check something out. I did so and end up finding a weapon called "Oh Boy!" just lying on the ground. Thing is a beast. It's value is around 6800 caps, it was in top condition and does serious damage. It also weighs 20 lbs:lol . I dropped some shit then and there to take it with me, no way was I leaving it behind. It DESTROYS everything I've thrown at it so far.

Jacobstown is the best place in the game because it has
MARCUS
. That was so cool.

I made it to Camp Mccarren today, and it's the next big hub area. Going to be doing quests in the surrounding area for quite a while now. My character's story so far is kinda straight and boring, but I really dig the direction I've been heading towards. Been building tons of good rep with smaller towns and the NCR, while trying to get the best out deal for myself in most situations.

I was actually considering having a good rep with the Legion at one point, but that all went to hell once Boone joined up with me. :lol I don't disagree with their philosophy, but their methods are kinda harsh. It'll be interesting to play a warlord type character who sides with the legion's ideals while wrecking havoc as he sees fit in future I think.

I'm still not sure if I'm really a NCR supporter in the long run though. The character I'm trying to play is an opportunist, and it just so happens that the NCR offers the most opportunities to those looking to profit without a lot of violence and killing. I like talking my way out of situations if possible, and not killing people excessively (in this build), so their hold over the region plays to those needs.

We'll see how things go though. I probably won't be setting foot inside Vegas for many more hours.

I know I already mentioned it in my last post, but god damn
Vault 11
has to be one of the best places in a Fallout game ever. Fucking brilliant execution. God bless Bethesda for letting Obsidian make this game.

Have you been to their HQ? I did and it gave me plenty of motivation to bring 'em all down. I chose a female character, though, which makes it much worse.

My companions keep on disappearing and not following me. I have to search everywhere to find them or else I lose them permanently or lose the ability to get companions with me.

Found out
that Jeannie May sold Boone's wife to the Legion. However, I can't get her to follow me to the dinosaur. When speaking with other potential culprits, I have an option to invite them there. I tried without wearing the beret. It's nighttime.
Am I doing something wrong?
Make sure Boone is working.

I need to find this Boone cuz it sounds like we will meet eye to eye. Hopefully the game will allow us to invade the base and take em all down when I'm at the appropriate level.

The game gives a great impression at the start, better than Fallout 3 at least. Just finished the Powder Gangers battle in the first little settlement, good stuff. The voice acting is infinitely better than the VA found in Fallout 3, and this helps A LOT. Does someone have a list of all the famous voice actors for this game, and who they voice?

Any recommendations for ways to boost rep with Legion? The only possibility I've seen thus far is
telling them how to disarm mines. Who the fuck has explosives at 50...? :lol

Also, the karma system in this game is fucked. I rescued some slaves. Immediately shot them after they were free. Didn't lose a thing. Steal a rapists pencil? Karma down! :lol

I tried for an hour and a half to get a veteran ranger to spawn so I can steal his awesome looming ranger combat armor that the cover art wears with no luck. Sigh. I'm lvl 23 already and past the Top casino part of the story yet nothing.

If one of you knows when I can actually get this armor reliably, please PM me so I don't miss it in this quick moving thread.
