Fallout New Vegas |OT| Obsidian does what Bethesdon't

wtf, I played all day the first day and pretty much beat the main story I think but I just loaded the game up today after updating and my autosave and quicksave is all the way back in nipton? I have some saves later in the game, but still...

PC right? Go to your saves folder on your computer. Something like \users\you\my games\falloutnv\saves

See the autosave.fov.baK and quick.fov.bak? Those are your saves. Rename the other autosave you have to some other extension, and then remove the .bak from the others. Should see your saves now.

I sent
Veronica
to the
Lucky 38
casino because at that shop with
energy weapons in Freeside,
during one of the missions I had to recruit
Cass, so I had to send Veronica to Lucky 38. Cass died and now I want Veronica back.
I need to know where she is.

Presidential.

Can someone explain to me the Helios One system with spoilers? Essentially I picked up Boone and he
mowed through the defence, I fixed the computer and then pushed some random shit to distribute power around the wasteland. I have no idea where these places are, why I would want to send them power. Then I started up the archimedes, the sky outside went bright white
and then nothing else happened.

What's up with that? Also totally killed the wrong person on Boone's quest, realised this and then went to kill the right person. Hopefully that doesn't fuck over Novac still.

Two crashes today in Novac, bringing the count to three.

I'm not that far into the game, but I think the world feels more interesting, more alive than FO3 and there are some very good characters in the game, voice acting is more varied than FO3 too.

This is the only way we could ever get this game, so you'll have to live with this engine for a while longer. Hopefully for Bethesda's next game they will use id Tech 5.

When it comes to if there's more to do... Yeah, I'd say there is. This game has a lot of quests, compared to the measly 25 or so in Fallout 3. Basically there is more of everything in this game. More weapons, more enemies, more towns, more items, more customization, more perks and so on. They have improved upon everything from Fallout 3; except for the graphics I guess.

Jax said:
There's a hell of a lot to do. Every town has a few quests. Vegas has a truck load and some of these take ages to do.

Agreed about the engine. Nothing that hasn't already been covered.

Thanks for the replies. I may look into getting this then.

I loved the introduction to Fallout 3. Growing up in the Vault was amazing and it's one of my favorite game introductions. The atmosphere was perfect.

I just got to Nipton...
I ended up murdering all the Legion as they left and it said I failed the "Finger of Suspicion" quest
. Is that anything I should be worried about?

*I was extremely high last night whilst playing; this may or may not have skewed my humors.

I don't know how the rest of gaf feels about this, but my god do I love playing New Vegas HC mode while high. The immersion is just so unbelievable with surround sound. Although.. it took me all of yesterday just to make it to Novac. You can be easily distracted sometimes. :lol

so, I wanna speed run to that medical center for the implants, whats the recommended level? Playing hardcore, normal difficulty (no combat companions planned eg Boon-head-shot )

Even if you could get there early (and I've heard there's a quick way to get to the Strip but don't know how), you would still need to pay like 6000 caps.

The game is glitchy as hell, and has some FO3ish things still, but is closer to FO2 than FO3. I hope FO4 is done by obsidian with tighter testing.

yeah, though it seems trade in prices are HUGE for weapons so I dont think it would take that long

want my point to INT quick as possible coz earlier it is the more valuable, though of course its only 0.5 skill point per level so its not like I need it super urgent, eg level 10 wouldnt be a big deal

reminds me of the rivet city speed run for the INT bobblehead there, that was quite easy to avoid enemies with right path and stealth. hated being chased by mirelurks though :lol

I'm currently in Novac, working on Boone's
quest: find the perp behind his wife disappearance. So far, I've spoken to everyone and no-bark came up with a lead; search the Dino Dee lite lobby for evidence but I have no idea what to look for or where to look (the front desk is the lobby area, correct?)...any help would be greatly appreciated.

If this doesn't work for yuou, turn off the cloud synchronization option in Steam. A recent patch was supposed to fix this, but it didn't for me until I manually disabled that myself.

Yep. Have fun!

The framerate in
Red Rock Canyon
just fuckin tanks too. It was about 10fps when I went through there.

You're in the right place. There should be a floor safe to lockpick behind the cashier.

12 hours in and still loving this game.

It took me 12 hours to get to novac or whatever, lol.

I kept trying to wander through the hills near the NCR prison and getting wasted by bandits or radscorpions or deathclaws.

Hard mode with hardcore on is so unforgiving. You really have to be careful all the time.

If anyone is knowledgeable of basic blackjack rules then it should be no problem getting the max amounts to get cut off- (seems like an average of 10k a place between the 4 casinos)

This is my foolproof method: (Assuming you have 7+ Luck, get the naughty nightwear from mick and ralph's)

Trade in 100 NCR bucks for 40 chips. Start betting with 5. Double down a lot! if you have 10, 80% of the time, 11, 100% of the time. Normal odds seem to not apply here, so I will hit no matter what they are showing 90% of the time and still make 17-21. I even hit on 17 sometimes if a 10/face is showing for the dealer.

Once you hit over 100 chips, increase to 10, and so on always betting 10%. It seems (not sure about this) that if you bet more than 10% the dealer gets luckier. But if you keep it under 10% your luck always comes through, and then it's just a matter of time to hit 2000+ chips and make max bets every time. After that, you will have broken the bank in minutes.

Oh goddammit! I just got assassinated by Caesar's Legion! :lol :lol Fuckers just crept up behind me. I didn't know they put out hits and shit on you. I am going to be SO paranoid crossing the vast expanses of the wasteland now knowing there are possible assassins after me. <3 Loving this game.

I'd agree generally, but I'd prefer if Bethesda had some say after they've played this one and Obsidian to listen to that feedback. Additionally I'd like to see how Obsidian handle any DLC. I think FO3 was still better in a number of areas, if they were able to put their heads together and use id's technology we could have a game worthy of the title GOTY again.

Those fuckers are for real. Got cornered by about five of them in Gibson's Scrapyard, had to reload a save because I didn't have room for my explosives to do their thing without my companions dying.

By the way, Sunset Sarsaparillas are a godsend.

I reloaded after they killed me and I was walking near the Nipton Rest Stop/Gas station and turned around and three of them were walking underneath the gas station, so I lobbed a frag grenade, blew up the car that was under there and the gas station and body parts and blood just flew everywhere. Killed all three of them. :lol :lol

They are no joke. They will ambush you when you least expect it and they love their automatic 9mm SMG's. The can also take damage, especially the lead assassin. I ended up having to use 5.56mm AP rounds and my trusty Liberator to finish off the last one. Toughest fight I have been in yet.

Yep, same here on my first play through though gonna do a new character

Reviewers need to add an "Ambition" score. At 20 hours and not even getting to vegas (so I have seen what 5% of the game) and yet in the same time I could play and finish MOH, Kane & Lynch 2, MW2, Star wars Force unleashed 2 combined.

Bugs are directly related to ambition (and hence amount of content etc)

30 hours, Level 23, and I haven't either. Soooo much to do, I dunno why, but it feels like there's way more here than in basic Fallout 3.

Question on a companion quest.

Supposedly, Boone has a 'second' quest that pops up after a while, going after the camp where his wife was held and murdering all the Legion there. Is there anything in particular that triggers this, if true?

Any time you have him as a companion and you're coming upon a Legion camp, he will warn you about it and say that if you proceed with him he will kill any Legion members. I've always avoided the areas and dismissed him because I haven't progressed far enough to ruin my relationship with the Legion. Whether this is what you heard about or not, I'm not sure.

Fuck giant RadScorpian inside the house in Nipton out of nowhere. :lol

I thought I'd search houses and see if I find anything good. When you enter in the house, it kinda blocks your view for a sec. And bam! giant RadScorpain waiting for me.

I'm running around vault 34 like a jackass and taking radiation to the face. Should I bother with this place right now? I'm headed to Vegas for the first time to find

Kinda off topic but any opinions?

If you want tons of hours of gameplay, replays and can handle buggy game until lots of patches are released, get Fallout NV.

Their both great games IMO, though Fallout is way larger in terms of content especially quests etc. You could play fallout for 50-60 hours easy and still have lots of places and quests to uncover.

DR2 is much more limited content, way less quests and less detailed quests (typically its just escort and save). But its more action oriented.

So new vegas probably has 10x the content and time commitment, and thus is more value at full price IMO. I really like DR2 though, so I think both are worth owning.

I just hit level 6 and although my charisma is low (2) and my tagged skills are guns/repair/science I'm extremely tempted to start moving points into speech in a big way. Seems like speech is has so much use now.

There's a quest that involves that place, you could probably do it before being given it if you have enough rad away/rad x. Basically you
need to get down to the reactor and shut it down, but several of the doors are inaccessible until you get passwords off terminals.
Quest is gotten at the NCR sharecropper farm.

So I finished the game after 25 hours, I skipped a fair bit of sidequest stuff because playing on Hardcore Mode sucks so much I just wanted to get it over with. The worst bug I encountered over that time was the disappearance of my companion (maybe I just told her to wait and forgot where I put her?). Besides that the largest bug I had was someone pulling out a gun and shooting, only there was no gun model. No freezes, no game breaking bugs. Either the code reviewers got was not final or I am one of the luckiest Fallout players ever.

Not sure if this is a bug, but i lost 10 points on my weight limit. I had 210 weight limit, but after dropping some items, it lowers itself to 200. It goes back to 210 after a few minutes.

Is this a bug, or is this related to limbs or something.

EDIT:

Also, are there any Vaults in the south of the wasteland? i really want to go to one, but the only one i know of is Vault 34 near New Vegas.

If you want Vaults do the
Brotherhood of Steel
quests.
