Ledsen said:Fallout 3 already has Fallout 3 Script Extender (as does Oblivion and soon New Vegas) so you can just use the Fallout 3 Stutter Remover (requires the Script Extender) which is a lot more powerful than this 4gb/stutter fix we currently have for NV.
Confidence Man said:The beginning is easily the weakest part of NV, probably because it all feels so familiar and the town is sort of boring. Once you get exploring, running into all the factions, and the story starts to come together it will start to dawn on you just how massive and multilayered the game is. I felt Fallout 3 was pretty one-note in comparison.

He got shot in the head. Doc Mitchell didn't put it back together, he just implanted the brain of his dead son into the Courier's healthy young body. Hence the amazement at visiting places he should have been to already.Jamesfrom818 said:The thing that is strange to me is that you are a courier that has lived in the Mojave Wasteland all your life but you act like a newcomer to the world when you start the game.

Details? Don't know if I missed it. I have the game running at a solid 60FPS with no issues completely maxed out, except for that occasion stuttering.Ledsen said:You're welcome I take it you're not very familiar with Bethesda games modding?

i am stuck with his gun in my inventory. when i drop it is impossible to pick back up. so i reloaded. now i'm just stuck with boone using a shitty laser pistol. i can't find ANY solutions.

I read about the FO3 batch fix and script extender but how would I go about getting it to work with a Steam version of FO3.
Also, any clarification on if the recent Nvidia changes let me remove the .dll file from the game?
And is the water multisampling fix still in effect? Or can I crank that back up as well?

i'd be less worried about having to find a bed to sleep in every day (especially since you can fast travel) and more concerned about fighting with the awful inventory system more often. i agree it's probably not as big a deal as it should be right now, though.Timber said:so what's the verdict on hardcore mode?
on one hand i'm glad it's not the micromanagement hell i was envisioning, where i have to go out of my way to find a bed every in-game day. my character seems to be an insomniac. but i'm a bit disappointed that i hardly ever notice that hardcore mode is on. whenever the message pops up that i need to consume something, i simply do so and proceed on my merry way. it doesn't help that food and water is just so damned abundant. i would have preferred it if they were more scarce and costly, so that that acquisition actually meant something. i love scrounging around every container in every location, anyway.
GDGF said:Something like that happened to me yesterday, actually. Except it didn't end up in my inventory. It completely vanished for a while. I tried to reload an old save, and it worked for a second, but whenever we walked into a building the gun would disappear again. After that I let my character sleep for a few hours and when I woke up Boone had his sniper rifle again, but the funny thing is that it still doesn't show up in either characters inventory. He's sure as hell using it, though.
bunbun777 said:Same thing happened to me but with Arcade. Steal? No, I just want to pick it back up... what's so harsh is that followers have unlimited ammo only with their starting weapon.
My Ed-E mission popped though.
Yea, I'm using that currently. New Vegas Stuttering Fix is up though. The one that relies on the script extender. It's a prelim version because, obviously, the SE isn't out.Ledsen said:I'm not sure which specific mod AgentOtaku was talking about, but I'm talking about this one:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35262
It fixes stuttering and makes the game able to use more RAM. The only thing you need to do is unpack and run that executable instead of starting the game from Steam, it works from wherever you put the files and also works perfectly with Steam. It's the best solution for now, until NV Script Extender and Stutter Remover are released.

Hardcore mode definitely helps tie in EVERYTHING that wasn't exactly necessary to worry about in FO3. Honestly, default play should have been hardcore mode and a hardcore mode option will permanent death ala Diablo would have made it even more interesting.Llyranor said:Level 4, cannibal perk. Among other changes, of course.
Or perhaps death penalties. Revival at a facility from cloning and having to scavenge your body, perhaps being consumed by animals, to retrieve your items etc.
Considering I've only died twice from Alpha Males and once for being extremely stupid and not checking a trap in Charlie, I think it would be more than feasible.

Usually I'd agree, but the whole Vault Dweller thing has been done a couple of times now so I'm glad they took a different route. I had fun finding out what happened to me.WanderingWind said:Ah, amnesia. Without you, how would shitty RPG writers create a plot?

Yea, there's nothing wrong with it now. They've done an excellent job of combating what's hardcore with hardcore mode and not just tedious stat-checking.Lothars said:I don't disagree but I think it's fine the way it is and giving more options for an more extreme hardcore mode would be understandable, I think this way because I like the game the way it is without hardcore mode but there is definitely a place for the hardcore mode with more challenges or restrictions but I look forward to playing through on hardcore just to see how it is.

Pretty much every major issue I had on release has been fixed either by the community or driver updates. Holy shit this community is badass.Technosteve said:I've been reading this thread since page 1, and you people seemed to be having fun.

Still too easy to break the game and any sort of 'survival' feeling with quick travel and quicksaves. It's an RPG played for story, not challenge. If you want a challenging survival game, play Left 4 Dead on expert.Timber said:so what's the verdict on hardcore mode?
Wallach said:There is no way to lower the water. It's possible to swim through all of it without taking drowning damage by stopping for air in some of the rooms that have high enough ceilings that there is air. It's much easier with lockpicking because it allows you to bypass a lot of the water.

It's awesome and the only way to play the game as far as I am concerned. Having to carry water and food is great and the Survival skill+campfires can be a godsend in Hardcore mode. I also very much like the health system of hardcore mode, especially how stimpacks can't heal limbs. It just adds another layer of realism for me and now that I have played with it, I won't be able to turn it off.Timber said:so what's the verdict on hardcore mode?
