Oh god, I lost ED-E! :(

Me and ED-E were assaulting Black Mountain on the Crazy Crazy Crazy quest when I decided it would be best to stealth it without him giving me away. I told him to return to the Lucky 38, and then I waited till dawn and sneaked pass all the patrols. I completed the mission and I recruited the final party member, only to return to the Lucky 38 to find that ED-E did not return!

Knowing this engine, he's alive somewhere out there, stuck in some part of the map, but I guess I'll either find him later as I play, or never see him again. Oh well, that robot was never too bright to begin with, so I'm not surprised that he couldn't find his way from Black Mountain back to Vegas. :lol

maybe he passed through those Deathclaws near there  .

You must be blessed by the Mojave gods. 18 hours in, and around 10 lockups here. I hope a patch is coming.
Almost 40 hours on 360 here, and the only time it froze for me was when I picked up stuff in one of the tents outside of Primm. No matter what I did after I had been in that tent, the game would lock up after a certain time; so I just didn't bother with that tent, and no freezes since then.

I have installed the game, and I'm playing on a 360 S.

What can you do with NCR dogtags, NCR/Legion money?
You can get a schematic that gives you the recipe for a weapon that requires dog tags. You can also sell them for 2 caps each.

uh, fallout 3's world was awesome.

hello, weird pedophile serial killer hiding in a secluded sewer tunnel with bodies in the freezer wearing a mask for no reason? that is great.

up your nose with a rubber hose if you don't like that.

Where was this?

So I just finished the game on hard with my lvl 30 smooth talker nerdninja build :lol . I took mysterious stranger and lady luck perks and I didn't even see them ONCE ! WTF !

Another question. In one of my saves I send Veronica back to the Lucky 38, she was badass with T51 armor and stuff kicking super mutants in the face. After I send her back I murdered the hell out of the Brotherhood, and now I can't find her anywhere. Did she bail on me? At least give me a prompt or anything....

For some reason I really want to just put this character on hold and make a new character. I think I might do it instead of completing the story.

I'm about to do the same thing. Now that I know the lay of the land I can plan my guy a bit better.

Yeah, whenever I do a first playthough my guy always ends up a jack of all trades and master of none no matter how hard I try to resist doing so.

So uhm, I just completed the quest where
I have to protect the NCR president kimbal while he's holding his speech at the dam. But now, whenever I try to speak to colonel moore, she just keeps asking if the president is safe. All I can respond is that I have some questions, to which she then orders me back up to protect the president, even though he's already long gone by now.

Am I just completely screwed if I want to complete the game by helping the NCR?

I'm going to finish mine. I've got about 20 hours in so far, but I'm really seeing areas that I should have focused more on.

I'm not sure where I am in the main plot though I've been avoiding any spoiler tags right now I am :
Headed to the Fort to find Benny.
Anyone that knows can you give me a rough estimate on how much I have left?

I also installed the game, also playing on a 360S, and I clear my cache. The game still ate my last 4 saves, as posted earlier.

I am wondering what you guys think about trying to return the game to Amazon, instead of trading it in? It appears Amazon will let me do it. I feel bad sticking them with the game, but hopefully they charge back Bethesda for this piece of shit.

Game just arrived today.

Decided to get it before DR2 and I've only played 30-60 minutes so far but it's good. No crashes yet but some stuttering. The game is pretty much a technical failure. Well nearly there anyway. It really doesn't feel as epic as F3 (introduction missions in the Vault were amazing) but it's still a fun game and feels like a better version of F3 overall. Money well spent in my opinion.

I'm taking my time, trying to be thorough and slowly expanding the areas I've visited. I'm Level 6 and havn't really progressed on the main quest. Playing on a launch 360 and no crashes yet.

Hardcore doesn't make the game more difficult in any real way, it just slows it right down. Not sure if that is going to maintain it's appeal. I love how much more stuff you can do with crafting but that Pip Boy menu is not cut out for it. It was managable in Fallout 3 but here there's just too much crap.

You don't get any AP back at all? From the description they seem to have changed it to only restore 20 AP in a VATS kill, wouldn't surprise me if it broke when they played with it.

In Fallout 3, if you killed a target while in V.A.T.S. all of your action points are restored upon exiting V.A.T.S. mode. This was changed in Fallout: New Vegas as killing a target now restores 20 action points after exiting V.A.T.S.

from the wiki.

yes. its broken. Late game I could 1 shot with the sniper, sometimes, 2 shot. Still, no AP recovery. Essentially wasted 1 perk

You have half the game to go. I'd say (8 on the low end) 10-16+ hours depending on how many locations you've opened up and how much you can fast travel - either way, the quest points will spawn some more so its hard to say. Depends on what you end up doing? This game isn't linear by any means

Thanks for the info. I guess I should have phrased my question a little better. I'm sure it will take me another 20 hours or so. I'm a loot/quest whore. When I discover a town on the way to a specific mission I'll oftentimes complete the side quests there before continuing on.

For my next run I'm going to do a Smooth talking Lock picking salesman that knows his way around a gun.

So, any reasons to keep the Ratslayer over the Sniper Rifle or Anti-Material gun from Gun Runners?

didn't find a rate slayer but the anti-material gun is not as good as the sniper. I ran out of ammo for the sniper in the final act but the enemies were carrying anti material rifle and I used that instead and it isn't as good in terms of damage/critical hits. The sniper rifle as a whole is all sorts of awesome.

* really hate how with the gun runners shop, mine didn't restock ammo or money. Someone mentioned 24 hours realtime but that to me seems a bit twee.

I'm looking to
recruit a new sheriff and I've arrived at the Power Gangs penitentiary, however I get shot at whenever I approach it. Is there no alternative but to fight them all?
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong because I get shot at everywhere I go.

Just found this tip on stealing with a Pot, does anyone know if this really works?

yeah, looks so stupid but yeah, it should work. Ended the game with 30k from sales of items. so this would be great for early on. I might run up to SR in a new game and get some energy weapons this way. :lol

If that's ur expereince, I'd get some powder ganger outfits and wear that. Disguise/factional outfits really matter in NV

just listening to the bombcast and they were talking about karma:

and I gotta agree:

a) what's karma about? Seems to do nothing?

b) you can wipe guys out, everyone's dead and yet when you take some innocuous shit like iguana on a stick, you lose karma?

Karma seems like a pointless leftover from 3. The factions completely replaced any need for it.

Does anyone know where I can find a shovel to dig up that grave in the Goodsprings graveyard?

shovel = 3 weight.

I've seen maybe <10 graves in the entire game. Nothing good in any of them. some ammo.

You can buy it from some shop or another. I bought one from the good springs general shop at the start of the game.

Alright cool, I just heard there was a unique weapon
from a character in the comic
hidden in Goodsprings graveyard.

I'm only like level 12 and I just BARELY finished the mission in Vault 34 by the skin of my teeth. That was crazy hard. I must have died like ten times and had to keep Rex and Veronica from dying by making them wait at the entrance. Either my character is a pushover or I was supposed to try completing that mission later when I was stronger.

oh between the radiation and the ghouls, that was easily one of the grittest toughest places in the game. You do come on it kind of early - I attempted it on Level 17 and it felt like hell to be in there. As it should be. If the game engine could do more with lighting, it would have been even more terrifying.

One of the best places to play in the game imo. I hated it but I loved it.

You can talk to the robot in the casino at... I forget the name of it.. It's like the second place you go (maybe?) after Goodsprings. Anyways, you can reprogram him to be the sheriff or something like that.

What is everyone's experience with Hardcore mode? my character is around level 6 and I am loving it, but I am having a really hard time with getting encumbered all the time, the hoarder in me is going insane!

I think I know exactly the spot you're talking about. There are two tents side by side. One of them has the Lt. dude or whatever and the other has some loot. The only time that spot gave me problems was when I tried to steal the loot and after stealing it I would try to repair it. After repairing it the game would crash. I got past that by repairing the loot slower. That actually worked. Yeah, that bit and the disappearing sniper rifle on Boone (which eventually worked itself out anyway) are the only bits of trouble I've had. Think I'm nearing endgame too.

This is my first Fallout game, and one of the reasons I got it was because of hardcore mode.
It's not bad. Still pretty unrealistic.. you can carry multiple guns, armor, all of that jazz. I like that I have to sleep, eat, and drink water to stay healthy and alive, but it isn't as in depth as I would've liked. Love the game regardless!

Thanks. I got the Anti-Material and you're right. Very hit or miss with criticals. But, very powerful. I'll give the Sniper Rifle a shot now.

Been playing for 20 plus hours and haven't got much done, the one thing that get me is geck, happened in fo3 and happening now, modding secret bunkers and weird weapons is like a game in itself, need to start doing some quests

I like hardcore mode and frankly I'm finding it easier than I expected (I'm a Fallout 3 veteran). Needing to eat, drink and sleep are not much of a problem. Nor is ammo having weight much of an issue. The biggest issues are that your companions can die (not just go unconscious) and getting crippled and not being able to use a stimpack or sleep to fix it. At only level 12, I've spent more time with broken limbs than I ever did in 30 levels of Fallout 3 because when you don't have a Doctor's Bag, you're pretty much screwed until you find a doctor.

If you end up having to go in there with guns-a-blazin' (as I did)
make sure you have the flamethrower (incinerator or whatever) with you. Doesn't help as much with the guys on the outside of the complex, but it makes all the difference when fighting the guys inside. They'll try to gang up on you, and there are lots of them, so set them on fire when they are relatively far away and close to each other, and while they burn switch to a more rapid fire weapon to quickly finish them off. You can find the flamethrower early in Primm from the convict leader.

All shops get new equipment after 3 days. If you're playing hardcore mode, find a place to sleep and make sure you have some water and food after each 24 hour nap.

So where in the Goodsprings cemetery
can I find Benny's cigarette butts I've heard someone refer to
? Somehow I'm just not seeing them.

Has anyone else run into a bug in which you shoot at enemies and they dont go down no matter what? You can also walk through them and they remain motionless sometimes. At other times, only hits to certain body parts register. Sometimes they are highlighted in red with the reticule and sometimes they are highlighted with the "normal" color (I'm using blue).

I also went for several HOURS (real, not game time) with my STR reduced from eating Gecko meat. I've ran into tons of bugs regarding encumberance either lasting for wayyyyyy too long or the effect doesn't kick in at all.

I had a NCR guy give me a radio to call in help if I need it, but I can't find it in my inventory..... Any ideas anyone?

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a glitch with the Beyond the Beef sidequest.

I managed to find and return Heck Gundersons son through the various speech options and the quest is completed according to the journal. Curious to see what the repercussions might have been for Mortimer I went back and he's asking me about our arrangement once again, when only moments ago he was swearing he'd have me filleted. I'm wondering if not visiting the other investigator has any effect as I was able to completely bypass him by lying about being a cannibal.

Interesting sidequest despite the glitch. It certainly seems open to a whole variety of paths.
