For all of you guys with a high Energy and/or high Science skills, be sure to check out REPCONN HQ. I won't spoil what you'll find, but let's just say that area is suited to your specialties.

Don't forget
Cassidy's
quest. Got a ton of energy weapons after that bloodbath :D .

I am having a hell of a time with 'I put a Spell on You'. The NPC I was supposed to 'meet' never appears. I went online to see when he appears or what to do but to no avail he just doesn't exist.

I posted a while ago and as far as I could tell nobody replied, can this all roads graphic novel be purchased seperately or should I just go ahead and get it on eBay? Wasn't really into the poker chips or making of which I can catch on YouTube but I'd like to give them some money for making something cool.

It's a cool extra and nicely bound, but the comic is really short- it's only 22 pages and basically serves as an extended intro sequence to the game. You just get to see a little of what happened beforehand with Benny and the Khans, nothing too special, although Benny is entertaining as always.

The comic was the main part of why I wanted the special edition and I was sorely disappointed, but the awesome deck of cards helped make up for it.

Is it possible for me to get a smooth 60fps at 1080p on this game with a 5770? I get around 40 to 50 and then around 30 when a NPC is around. Rest of the specs are core i5-750 quad, 4gb ddr3 ram.

Stopped my first playthrough at about level 13, I was too scatterbrained with what I wanted to do and just ended up being okay in all areas and excelling at nothing. I rerolled a new character this morning who is completely melee focused and extremely intelligent and persuasive (at level 8, guns, explosives and energy weapons are at 5, sneak and unarmed at 10, while speech, melee, survival and barter are all between 40 and 60).

Tagged skills were melee, speech and survival, took good natured and heavy handed as my traits at the start. And I've also decided that I'm gonna side with the Legion, since I can totally see Legionary armor, melee weapons and throwing spears being my style (plus the NCR just seems to be power-tripping and in charge of everything, and I could go for taking them down a few pegs). I'm trying to talk my way out of any conflict if at all possible, and when that doesnt work I go in and carve people up. Having a lot more fun this time around but some fights are becoming tough and I may need to pick up a follower soon.

Which leads me to my question: what followers can I get that won't mind me being all buddy-buddy with the Legion? Boone is a no go, the man is crazy and kills legionaries on sight, and I get the impression from reading the thread Cass won't be too keen on my chosen company(or maybe will just hate the evil murderous villain I intend to become). Since those are the only two I found on the first playthrough, along with ED-E, I need some advice on who to get and where to find them.

I bought the
Robot Combat perk (the one that lets you sneak up behind hostile robots and deactivate them) in preparation for this building and then ended up not needing it at all since I was able to sweet talk the robots and hack all the terminals (Speech 80, Science 80). But hopefully there will be some badass robots I can use it on in the future.

I'm also bummed that I focused on energy weapons instead of guns. Energy weapons were so powerful in FO3 but in New Vegas they seem to bounce off most high level enemies (deathclaws, supermutants, flying insects) in comparison to the damage caused by guns. I have an energy wep score of 80 and the perk that reduces the strength requirements for big guns and I'm still doing very little damage to high level enemies with my laser/plasma rifle. Though I have Boone, even he's getting two-shotted by Deathclaws (and I'm doing absolutely no damage to them :lol).
We were only able to defeat the supermutants because he switched to a supersledge on the mountain, instead of relying on his guns and my energy weps.
I must have set something up incorrectly. :/ Or it's a bug. :/

Yes, I actually won off him. You know... he has a house. He's not homeless or poor. He's just crazy as fuck.

I have the exact same specs and get 50-60fps with 4xAA @ 1080p most of the time. I was getting the same performance as you until I used the D3D9 fix:

I also use this which removes a lot of stutter:

i really like how the skill checks during dialogue have different text depending on whether you can pass or fail it.

I have a question for those who have reached max level or gotten very close:

How much of the wasteland have you explored? How many hours have you played? What level are you? I want to do every single sidequest if I can, and explore every location, all in a single playthrough. What I want to know is if I'll hit the exp ceiling long before I finish, because if so, I'll want to use a "less exp" mod.
I don't have anything useful to offer numberwise, but you are definitely going to hit 30 before doing everything. If I'm forced to give a number, perhaps around the time you've done 75% of the side/main quests and not much "pointless" wandering.

You should take a screen of the option when you talk to Veronica about the Brotherhood of Steel (before she joins you) if you fail the intelligence check. :lol

In Fallout 3 I got two characters to level 30 by splitting up all the quests and DLC. They hit max level around half-way through their very last quest.

New Vegas is supposed to be a little denser so the same might hold.

Argh, I'm doing the quest at Helios One and theres bots everywhere. I have no problems killing organic enemies, but my weapons are pretty much useless against them, I'm forced to just run like a bitch from them.

Is there any way to shut them down or am I screwed for not bothering with energy weapons?

There are pulse grenades/mines in that side room right before you get into the area with the turrets.

I'm nearing the end part of the game, well over 30 hours of play time (maybe over 40 too, lazy to check now), I think I've discovered 70-80 locations, but I haven't killed a shit ton of enemies because I'm playing mostly a speech character. I'm level 25-26 now. I think I'll probably hit 30 before I complete the game, but the level cap seems pretty tight. Obviously if I played a combat heavy character who gets to kill a lot more enemies (and higher level ones to boot) the cap can be reached much sooner.

Thanks. I actually made it to my destination despite being shot by 10 robots at the same time but it turns out I need one piece of scrap metal and somehow I don't have one and there weren't any in the room. Dammit! It sucks that that junk is everywhere except for the one time you need it.

So I took 1 charisma and didn't invest anything into Speech in my new character, figuring that I would fail every speech check... but there's surprisingly a lot of intelligence/medicine/science checks in dialogues. With those three and Confirmed Bachelor, I haven't had trouble convincing people in quests.

Yeah... I got to the end and
the damn super gun was locked behind a forcefield that I couldn't get through. Not sure if it was a bug or I missed a terminal somewhere. :(

No spoil please just yes or no:
About the Thing at the Top of the Tops casino and about the boomers:
Does saying to Benny's robot that they're my allies make them his allies?
I talked to the ambassador about them before I did to the robot.
I want to be with the NRC so I don't want to have them on his side.
Please answer me without spoiling anything.

I was just doing this quest last night, And must have ran into a bug or something. I put on the gangs uniform and talked to the guard on the gate. I gave him the 100 caps he wanted to look the other way, But he would always attack me about 2 seconds later as I approached the door. I just gave up in the end. I had thought I was doing something wrong, But I guess not

I have the same issue. I'm trying to wait 3 days and see if he stops being aggresive

Seems a bit disappointing the feedback about energy weapons. I rolled an energy weapon character to start and haven't gotten any good energy weapon that does decent damage. Any suggestions were to find one?

Well, if you get that gun, then go to Helios One and do the questline there, you can power it up to fire a super beam from space every 24hrs or something. I didn't do it personally, but someone else said earlier the gun was underwhelming.

edit: It may auto-start that quest if you've got Veronica in your party. Also, her companion quest has an option (one of three) to find the gun.

Not quite sure whats going on, was playing the game on my PS3 and it wouldn't load my save back up after I got killed, tried reloading my saves about 4 times and my PS3 just crashes every time, really lame...

I just had a weird glitch.

You know that old lady at the scrap yard with the dogs? So I was at a location on the other side of the map, I leave a building and all of a sudden her dogs are there and they're attacking me. There was a couple mole rats two, like 5 animals coming at me at once. And it was making this weird noising that sounded like the metal barrels when you knock them over.

Maybe that was a Wild Wasteland moment.

You're the third person to mention this. Seems like a hilarious bug.

18 hours in, level 23 and absolutely no sign of any companion.

:lol

Also, where the fuck can I buy Stimpacks? I've gone to every major location, as well as the doctor in the first town, and any traders I can find and I got two in total. That doesn't even recover my health fully! I'm finding it hard now just because I never have health. Some pointers on where to find them would be appreciated!

Easiest place is the Silver Rush in Freeside. Just drag whatever weapon you want to a corner, Sneak, then steal it. :lol Or get a stealthboy.

Restrooms and enemies, along with merchants... steal from every first aid box you see as well. You shouldn't need to use them outside of battle, though. Pay caps to doctors or use food to heal up. Sarsaparillas are pretty great.

I'm probably gonna have to go kill the old lady now so he doesn't have to live in grief over the loss of her pups.

I'm okay with not having them, as I'd rather be a lone wanderer, I just thought it's quite funny since it's a big focus on the game and I haven't encountered it. I guess that speaks volumes about the amount of content within the game - I've done a lot of missions, so clearly there's still a heap of stuff left to do! :D

I've been searching the dead and not finding any. First aid boxes are few and far between, too...

I've just played the last hour or so without any Stimpacks and it was quite frustrating.

It shouldn't if you think about it though. The Boomers have pledged their loyalty to you, not to anyone else. You are the only factor which matters.

Anyone have any idea where Sergeant Astor is in Camp Searchlight? I'm having difficulty finding him, I found Private Edwards but I am running low on Radaway and I need to find Astor.

edit: disregard, found him

So, I found Veronica. And apparently despite her background she doesnt give a flying fuck if we just go and annhilate the NCR and side with Legion, so her and I have been a pair of tag-teaming, melee-wielding crazy scholastic monk chicks (got some of those Bright Ghoul monk robes for myself). God damn this shit is crazy. Got myself a fancy machete from one of the Legion leaders after I wiped out an NCR camp for him. It's pretty fucking badass, and V and I just blitz right into the middle of every situation swinging left and right annhilating any foolish enough to get in the way.

Can someone please explain exactly how it's supposedly way better than FO3?
