Such as? I was kind hoping to the get the NCR combat armor (the one on the cover) soon.

I'm pretty sure the only way to get that armor is to actually kill a veteran NCR ranger. Could be wrong though, I'm just going by what I remember from the New Vegas wikia. That's what I did :lol I was "idolized" by NCR at the time and it only dropped me down to "playful rascal". Makes sense. I think 1 ranger's life is more than enough for all the scum I've killed.

Anyone know what the deal with the
sunset sarsaparilla bottle caps are? I've got about 120 of the bottles and 15 of the caps. Curious if I should be drinking the bottles to get the caps. What happens with this? A wanderer told me it leads to treasure. Anyone spoil what to do to trigger that?

Hidden Valley
, especially considering what the map marker tells me... I love exploring :D Probably shouldn't be this far north since I'm only level 4, but I didn't feel like continuing the main quest after Primm so I just walked around a bit :D

There's a quest you turn in the cap for an award. I just got the quest and don't know how many caps are needed. And, after drinking the bottle, you sometimes get sunset cap.

The Sunset Sarsaparilla factory is sorta near Camp McCaren. There is a thing in there that asks for the star caps. I gave him twenty and it hasn't completed the quest yet, so I don't know what happens.

The sniper Rifle, right? I was using the Ratslayer after some praise here on the thread but, didn't see it's greatness. I think I have Better Criticals Perk. I'll make sure to get Finesse next.
That's because the Ratslayer is a piece of shit, you need a high DMG weapon with AP rounds to deal with Death Claws.

Do yourself a favor and go grab the unique sniper rifle from the sniper's lookout on the ridge overlooking Cotton Wood cove. (you need really high lockpick though.)

If you lockpick the door, block by rock pile and believe there are some ammo. If you use com next to the door after being sent there from a quest, a faction will come out and greet you.

Oh also I settled for using a mod that ups the xp needed to level by 50%. Going by what people have been saying in this thread that seems just about right for hitting 30 after doing mostly everything.

Having some issues trying to recruit
Cass. I have Heartaches by the Number just started, but I've already been all over the place in the Strip. I already talked to Alice previously and all of her dialog options are still greyed out. Anything I can do?
The person you've already talked to should have given you another quest. Do that, return, and you'll get a continuation quest where you can recruit.

in the radial menu select talk, then choose the "TERMINATE" dialogue option.

ahh thanks :). will they stay where they are if i want to come back and get them?
i believe (not entirely sure) that ED-E returns to Primm when you dismiss him, unless you have a house (but not the novac motel, again i might be wrong about this) in which case you can send him there.

I prefer the Gauss Rifle even after using the unique Ogobi Scout Sniper Rifle. And, if you have "Like" Brotherhood faction, you can get unlimited ammo for it. Plus, it looks more bad ass.
Cool. Care to point me in the direction of the Gauss? Also, I remember the Brotherhood Elder telling me I could have some ammo and whatnot. Where exactly do i go get it?

I posted about it a page or two ago. Hope this helps.:D

Did you finish quest that allows you to be a member of the brotherhood? You should get the gun and power armor afterward. And, you can buy stuff from quartermaster. As for free ammo (have like faction), after entering the place, go down to area with 2 guards and on the floor will be white ammo trunk. Everytime you leave the lair and come back, ammo (Cell, EC and/or MF) will be in there. Thus, unlimited ammo.

Am I supposed to be able to have two companions at a time?

Currently have both
Cass and Rex
following me. Is this a glitch?

Goddammit.

I completed Still in the Dark for the Brotherhood, and choose to help Hardin do what he wanted to do. I come back hours and many in game days later only to discover that the change that was suppose to happen never did. I even waited a week in and outside their bunker and nothing changed. This really sucks because now i have no choice but to
kill them all in order to continue down the NCR endgame i was building toward.
I hate that because i really wanted to be a good guy throughout the game.

Is there any word or guess as to when the next 360 patch will be made available? Or if there is a potential fix for my problem.

Still love this game.

All my work buddies want the game badly but I've told them to wait for the patches. Its great but you don't want to be addicted to something this buggy.

Honestly, I think this game should be re-reviewed after several patches have released.

Apparently you can get a quest from hardin later on to 'prove your loyalty', maybe fast travel about abit and wait a few more days.

nah, it should get whatever it gets. The game was shipped buggy and honestly they dont deserve a higher score. However, it is worth playing and worth dealing with the bugs.

An amusing flaw in the game is that if you are hidden, a silent kill will not alert anyone else in the immediate vicinity to your hostility. I used this to my advantage in
The Silver Rush. After doing the various quests, I find that the bastard Jean Baptiste wants me to let him kill Cass, and I wasn't having any of that. Fortunately she was safe back at the hotel, so I just sort of sneaked around the shop until I was hidden, and picked off each guard one by one using my fully modded 10mm (too bad the laser sight doesn't actually generate a dot). With that done, I brought Cass with me and quickly dispatched the brother and sister.
Also, it seems that in that place you can also steal everything without karma loss as long as you are hidden, so I would just drag everything off into a corner where I could hide, then steal it.

For anyone jone-sing for the NCR Ranger Combat Armor (it looks sweet) and not wanting to take an NCR hit; the best way is:

I found that Camp Golf was the best location. You have to get to a certain point in the game for them to start spawning. I *think* they started spawning for me after I did a ton for the NCR, i think around liked or idolized. I've also heard its attached to the progress of the main story.

You'll need two things:
A Stealth Boy (If you're fast and efficient with quick-save you can get 2-3 rangers with one stealth boy)
Frag Grenades and/or frag Mines

The trick is to make sure absolutely no one sees you commit the deed. In camp Golf there are 1-2 rangers that will walk out the main door and go around the corner of the house. That's a good place to do it. However, the best spot I found is in the building itself. The kitchen is a good place... if you wait for people to path in and out you can easily get a ranger on his own, he'll even have the decency to sit for you. Also I found that you shouldn't panic and jump out of crouch as soon as you get it on them just slowly creep away and just let him blow up.

Alice? She won't say anything new to me. Weirdly, I tried killing her and the quest won't fail, the marker is just where she is. Not sure how to make it move on now.

Holy shit. I just randomly stumbled upon
The Brotherhood of Steel base
.

I was not expecting that at all. I had just leveled up my lockpick skill to 100 as well, so it was my first "Very Hard" lock that I opened. Once I got inside, I ended up killing them all, then felt guilty and reloaded my save. Now I'm working for them. :D

How fucking awesome that such a cool place is just hidden out in the middle of nowhere.

40 hours with my main character, and I started a second guy yesterday... basically fucked for any combat. Strictly a charisma/intelligence character. Maxed out the age so he's an old man with obvious strength and agility penalties.

St - 3
Pe - 5
En - 6
Ch - 8
In - 9
Ag - 4
Lk - 5

I've had some interesting things happen already in the game. I'll try and keep a regular recap going because I'm really happy with how this character's going. Basically roleplaying the game pen-and-paper D&D style.

That sky mod is fucking amazing. Just fucking amazing. And it doesn't change the game 1 bit

Someone at oblivion has to look at that and wished they'd done it

Beyond the Beef is so awesome.

I kinda fucked up that quest.
I flagged that his son was missing, and I figured I'd get to it whenever. Snuck into the door in the kitchen, then got a speech prompt from some random guy in the basement. Only after I got the freezer key did I even know what was going on. :lol

Do the safehouses (like the NCR safehouse that you get the key for) count as a room that you own? Can I put my gear in there with no worries?

Yeah I thought that was really weird. I mean it's the cover image. It's the original cool armor set made for the game. But you can't get it normally? weiiiird. I thought it would be like how the power armor is in all the games, where you get it through questing and training. I figured there'd be a "become a ranger" quest where you have to take the ranger test and upon finishing it you get a perk and the outfit.

I might've missed a quest that gave it. I mean I missed about 10 quests in the game. But if it wasn't in one of them then, yeah you have to kill a ranger and steal it. I did that on my legion run and then I forgot to take it off when reporting back to cesear and they all brutally murdered me at the fort :lol

I've been using the Followers of the Apocalypse Safehouse as a place to store gear, so yes.

So uhm, I just completed the quest where
I have to protect the NCR president kimbal while he's holding his speech at the dam. But now, whenever I try to speak to colonel moore, she just keeps asking if the president is safe. All I can respond is that I have some questions, to which she then orders me back up to protect the president, even though he's already long gone by now.

Am I just completely screwed if I want to complete the game by helping the NCR?
.

Bump. according to fallout wiki it seems like it a pretty known bug if the "right" conditions are met, haven't found any info on a work around though.
