Well of course, on the surface they aren't at all the same. But what is discussed thematically is really really similar, and I can't believe it's not a comparison that never crossed their mind. Even if it wasn't the original intention, the guy talks about
winning the lottery. They would have noticed the comparison.
He didnt win the lottery. He won the MOTHER FUCKIN' LOT-TER-EY! :lol And he lived instead of being killed which isnt what happens in The Lottery

The Lottery is about how modern day ritual sacrifice is creepy and The Crucible is about how what happened in Salem was totally messed up, but they're also both about the human condition in general and the horrible shit people do and let happen when fear overwhelms common sense.
Like i said i havent read The Lottery since the 6th grade so my memory of it isnt crystal clear but thats not really what i took away from it. i saw it more as people living in the past, too afraid of breaking tradition to be able to embrace the future.

I see... when I received it, did it appear under "apparel"? God damn I think I might have sold it thinking it was vendor trash. I assume stuff you sell stays on the vendor? I'll have to look around at the various vendors to see if they still have it.

A possibility, but I completed the objective just fine because I have a high Explosives skill.

Anyone know where I can find a good Lockpick book/magazine? I'm 3 points shy of picking hard locks!

Edit: Nevermind. I may have an outfit that will do the trick.

I've noticed that companions and building guards just take random walks into the desert never to return. Always look to see if your buddies are behind you when you save!

Vendor trash? Did you even look at the stats? It gives bonus to perception and critical chance. Why would you sell it? :lol

Yes, loot stays on vendors, so you just have to look around.

I had the same trouble, turns out if you do a couple of things after you get the
key to the comm tower, it glitches the quest.

I don't know if you can load an earlier save, but here's what I had to do to get past the quest and not
have the monorail explode even when I defuse the bomb.

1. After talking to Curtis for the first time, and then talking to Boyd to get the access key DO NOT TALK TO CURTIS AGAIN. Make sure you don't get caught by him when heading out to the comm tower.

2. After you take care of things in the comm tower, head straight for the monorail to defuse the bomb. Don't talk to General Hsu first.

Doing that fixed it for me, it seems talking to Curtis a second time or getting caught by him glitches the quest, as does talking to the General first.

" I got Heartaches by the number...
Troubles by the score
Everyday you love me less
Each day I love you more..."

Can anyone here tell me some locations for Stealthboys around the wasteland?

..there seems to be a good shortage of Stealthboys in this game, especially if you don't know how to use them efficiently, and just consume them pretty quick! :lol

Dammit. My oldest save is right after I talked to Hsu. Thanks anyway.

Damn you Veronica. I lost 2 hours with of progress because of her.

I had her using the Paladin Toaster and she was just killing everything with it (on very hard too). After some hours of exploring the north east I do some questing and notice she is not wearing it anymore... I thought the AI was suppose to pick up items if it dropped them during battle. :(

Alright reading through the thread I'm convinced that companions aren't worth the trouble and babysitting it takes to keep them.

Won't be taking any companions along for anything.

I don't know if this will work for you and your Veronica problem, but whenever Boone looses his sniper rifle I go into his command menu and switch him from melee to long range a few times and when I come back out he has his gun again (even though it has long since been lost from inventory)

Worth a shot, anyway.

They're incredibly useful. Almost too useful. Without a companion, you're going to want to pump your strength and get used to 2 -3 times the fast travel.

This wasn't her default weapon though (which she switched to when she lost the one I gave her). You know how you can shoot the guns out of NPC hands? Well that happens to your companions too. She must have had her hang crippled by some attack and dropped it. I didn't notice for two hours and I love that weapon too much just to forget about it. :(

It's not that bad at all, In 65 hours I haven't them ever get lost. I do pay attention to where they are at. I also check in places with lots of geometry to make sure they aren't stuck on anything. It takes seconds to do and saves you huge amounts of headache.

Having an extra 500 lbs of carry space, especially in hardcore is more than worth it.

My god, no.
Boone
alone is a force of nature. I wouldn't be where I am in the game without him.

EDIT: And how could I forget the fact that they're walking storage chests. If you like to carry stuff with you for crafting, modding, you need companions.

25 hours and I've only finished 25 quests and I'm level 18. I haven't done anything in strip yet, not a single quest for Mr. House, I think I'm going to hit the level cap before finishing the game :\ , I can't help it, I find doing side-quests more interesting than the main quest.

I'm doing the same thing, but I'm sort of wondering if I'm negating any effect that the main quest is supposed to have on how factions respond to you in the side quests. The only groups that absolutely despise me right now are the Legion and the Powder Gangers.

Thats my only complaint about them. They are uber.. especially Boone and Veronica. Way too strong imo. Keep in mind this is coming from someone that thinks Very Hard/Hardcore is fairly easy.

It's not buggy. Your companions walk across the wasteland to get back to it. Sometimes you need to wait a while depending on where you sent them from.

One of my complaints about the game is that the bump from Hard to Very Hard isn't noticeable at all.

OK this sounds useful I'm a loot whore and constantly over-encumbered. With all of the talk of missing companions I would be pretty upset if my walking storage chest went missing. I'm already in the habit of saving, a lot. It's a Fallout game.

I haven't had the opportunity to have a companion yet so maybe I'll rethink my earlier statement.

First impressions:

Shooting is NICE. Iron sights made it very tactical and satisfying, at least on PC. I don't use VAC at all. Also <3 slo-mo kills.

VO is definitely better. Sunny (or whatever her name is) sounds reserved and tough, as she should be.

Writing is better. It's just better - they use more words and don't sound gamey.

Perfomance is crappy. I wonder if it is due to open skies because Fellout had always brought sufficient hit to fps.

Music is better.

So far it is good. But I have to improve perfomance, I heard there are some workarounds.

The core game is Bethesda's one. And I like it.

Its really nothing to worry about, imo. The worst that has happened to me is ED-E pathing oddly because he floats off the ground. Entering or exiting an area (like entering a bar or casino) will bring them both back to me immediately if i have problems. ive also never had issues sending them to the casino or with their weapons glitching or losing due to critical hits on hands.. if thats a concern you might want to try Fallout Autosaver. It saves a regular save file every 10 minutes as long as you arent in a menu. i dont use it since i havent had a problem but for the paranoid it might be helpful.

One of my companions is my arsenal - mini-nukes and missiles are heavy - and the other is my walking refrigerator and drug mule. I lost the arsenal guy for about 15 min yesterday, but luckily I'm saving every 15 min or so, so not much progress was lost.

This. If anything, I have them wait as I progress so I kill everything.

How viable is it to make a stealth character in NV? I remember it being pretty tricky to do in FO3 until you had close to max in sneak, and even then you could get spotted pretty easily by the thougher enemies.

Me and E-DE got destroyed. I managed to kill a
Baby Deathclaw
before getting mauled to death. I'm going to avoid that area for a while, any tips on how to take them out? I'm level 15 now.

Edit: Holy fucking shit, they followed me and E-DE to Harper's shack. How the hell can I shake them off? I don't have the power to take them out. There's like 4 of them, they're relentless.

Yeah, after I nearly lost one companion I would just drop them off at the hotel and swap them for one I need.
So wait a minute, you can have multiple companions and just tell the ones you're not using to wait somewhere until you go back for them?!
