Like i said i havent read The Lottery since the 6th grade so my memory of it isnt crystal clear but thats not really what i took away from it. i saw it more as people living in the past, too afraid of breaking tradition to be able to embrace the future.The Lottery is about how modern day ritual sacrifice is creepy and The Crucible is about how what happened in Salem was totally messed up, but they're also both about the human condition in general and the horrible shit people do and let happen when fear overwhelms common sense.
