Really like the energy weapons changes. AER14 is nothing to fuck with anymore.

Just hope they fix this NPC issue soon because I don't really want to start a new game while it's still in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!! mode.

Can some help me with the quest in NoVac where you have to help the sniper with his missing wife?

I've gotten to where I have to search the lobby for a clue, but I can't find SHIT. Just the caretaker on her terminal, nothing else of interest in there.

It's more difficult to find the evidence you're looking for while she's in the room.

Sniper rifle was (probably still is) incredibly overpowered. I was having a very challenging time in my game until I got a sniper rifle. The game becomes a cake walk at that point. Sneak attack critical across hundreds of yards kill anything in a couple of shots (even one in a lot of cases) on very hard (w/ HC mode on if that makes a difference).

SRG01 said:
No, it's to make the game not horribly unbalanced towards sniper rifles. I completely steamrolled everything by the time I hit level 16 with a sniper rifle. It's stupid.

The problem with the game is that the majority of the weapons in the game were shit. I just hope the update improved the other weapons.

Does anyone know if the gattling laser has been improved?

I checked the GECK and it did not receive any changes that I can see (though obviously it is affected by the general energy weapon ammo changes).

You won't be able to complete this quest without getting a little dirty. Though there are plenty of other quests to do.

Depends on how much you like Cass. There's no other way to complete the mission. Of course, it's more profitable to kill them all and take their stuff. They've got some really good stuff.

I didn't kill them, but I started a quest doing some guard work to soften them up a bit which meant I could take my weapons. I didn't need to use them though, just used a stealth boy and took everything. They were none the wiser:D

So I went ahead and made a new character anyway, and luckily the NPCs seem to be working alright in that file. I even imported one of my other characters' saves and the Silver Rush guards fired on him just fine, so for some reason that file in particular (my shotgunner) has a bunch of messed up NPCs. Fuck.

Edit - No, it's weirder even than that apparently. I loaded my old character back up again and they are all using the rifle normally, but they all toss their weapons to the ground after a few seconds completely broken. So I try this without my companions and they completely maul me (go go energy weapons buffs) without dropping their weapons; it's fast but they seem to get about 5 shots off per guy before I'm dead. So right now all I can conclude is that apparently Boone and ED-E are breaking all of their weapons (by targeting them) within the first couple seconds of combat? Fucking what is the deal.

Edit #2 - I can't find any other instance yet where this is occurring besides the Silver Rush, contrary to what other folks have told me. Officially not a big deal in my book at this point.

Now that the patch is on Steam, he's my top five essential mods:

1 - Sprint Mod - New Vegas is a big place. Don't walk when you can run.
2 - Pipboy Readius - A new and better pip for your menu needs. Put it on huge.
3 - Nevada Skies - You haven't truly seen New Vegas at night without this mod.
4 - Pip Boy Night Vision - With those darker nights, replace that old pip light with full nightvision.
5 - MTUI - Because the default text size is for console kiddies.

And the ultimate mod to watch:
RTS - Real-Time Settler - Build your own settlement in the wasteland, complete with buildings, defenses, settlers, and sweet resource management. It's something that's being often updated so I wouldn't jump in just yet, but in a short while it'll provide a huge enhancement to the Fallout experience.

I have just recently started playing Fable 2 again, and was a big fan of Oblivion. Would Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas be a similar type game to start once I am finished up with Fable 2?

Sorry to ask such a random and outdated question, however I don't have any friends that play these type of games. Thanks!

Nah, neither of the new Fallouts are like that. But they're wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Fable 2, so you should still get them.

When it comes to RPGs Fable and Fallout are polar opposites.

Fallout is completely open world. Start walking and it just goes on and on for quite a while. Fable as you know is made of gated nodes that are much smaller. In Fallout you can pick up anything that isn't nailed down and in most cases - even in the case of pure junk - it is a component for something to craft. Fable has a very limited inventory. Fallout also has a deep character building system that has a tremendous amount of variety. In Fable you basically turn into an upgraded version of the original character.

Fable is basic, Fallout more advanced. You should give it a try.

So that sounds more like Oblivion...correct? Should I start with Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

Since the new patch the screen keeps going black and white. Anyone else with this issue? (PS3 version)

It's happened three times and fast traveling always fixes it.

Fallout 3. I hated Oblivion, but love these Fallout games.

They have alot more focus than what I found in Oblivion, easily letting me go wherever I want, and then picking up the main story.

Good narrative too, until maybe the end falls apart.

I don't really care for her. I was just worried if I killed her I would get a bad ending. Cool, I'll kill her tonight when I get home. I've already sent her away though and picked up another member. Where does she run off to when I let her go?

Mojave outpost I think, the same place where you pick her up

Fallout 3 has what is still, for me, the best tutorial to main game transition in gaming. I spent the next couple of hours wanting my character to hide under a rock, crying. Awesome sucker punch.

New Vegas is a bit of a train wreck (technically it's a disaster, but there's still good Gameplay at the core), but there's more civilisation in the world; people are getting back on their feet, nations are being formed. FO3 is just literally a wasteland with tiny paranoid remnants of society trying to cling to life.

I preferred FO3's take. New Vegas is almost too removed from a post nuclear apocalyptic setting, and I find the Mojave bland an uninteresting by comparison.

I'm going to start a new game tonight after abandoning this thing shortly after launch. I will come back and bitch if I find another game breaking bug.

Correct, it's the same company in charge. I would start with Fallout 3 and at least the Broken Steel DLC. Exploring Washington after the bombs fall is a rare treat, it's one of the most moving places I've ever experienced in a video game. Broken Steel is the true end to Fallout 3 and it not only allows your character to play past the end of Fallout 3 but it raises the level cap from 20 to 30.

Once you've had fun with that, New Vegas will be waiting and by then probably patched up into a smooth running game. You will also see the added complexities put into New Vegas compared to Fallout 3.

Just finished Boulder...next (story) stop is New Vegas I think.

I got Boone in NoVac, who's ridiculously stronger than me. Kinda thinking of getting rid of him :/.

Can anyone recommend where to get a good shotgun before heading into Vegas? Best I've found is the Caravan Shotgun, and that's a piece of shit.

The Cowboy Repeater is good. Uses .357 ammo, shoots fast, and you can shoot 7 rounds before you have to reload. The best shotgun in the game is the Riot Shotgun, though. The Cowboy Repeater can be found in Primm and Nipton. The Riot Shotgun is sold at this place called Gun Runners you should find right outside Vegas.

If you go kill Old-Lady Gibson just outside of Novac, it will give you a pretty good shotgun

Not at all it seems, from the official forums it looks the latest patch only fixed scripting bugs and all the performance bugs, crashes and low fps are still there for a lot of people.

Any idea when the patch is going live on 360? I'm doing a playthrough of Oblivion in the meanwhile but I'm antsy to see if they've fixed some the bugs that are pestering me. Damn Microsoft and their certification process, why does it take so long?

All the crash bugs have been fixed for me with the latest patch. There are even the moments loading where it definitely would have crashed before the music only skips a bit and it finishes loading the area.

NVSE doesn't work with the current version. That means no Readius.

Question

I left the Lucky 38 Casino but my companions are no longer with me? Right now I'm outside the strip altogether

If it was the first time you went to the Lucky 38, they were forced to wait outside. They should be standing on the steps of the Lucky 38 waiting for you still.

After the latest patch I found the companions were automatically set to wait even inside the casino, so they didn't just walk out with me after I got back from the top floor.

Nice, going by that changelog there are quite a few issues that have been rectified. Only one more day.

Weird though that we haven't heard a peep about Dead Money since the announcement, no screens, no trailer. Nothing.

I just installed the patch on the pc version, played for 20 minutes and then it crashed on me! Awesome!

I've gotten used to it though. This game is great, and I can put up with it crashing on me 2 or 3 times a session.

Patch is live on the 360.

Been playing the last half an hour, and a few issues have been rectified, some I hadn't even noticed beforehand.

-All NCR regions I was only 'accepted' which is strange considering the number of quests and how much I aligned with them. But now it's back to being Idolized.
-Boone's got his hunting rifle back :D E-DE has yet to return though :(
-Haven't tried any weapons yet, including the Sniper Rifles. I'll try them later. Right now I've just gone to get some stuff from the Brotherhood and NCR safehouses.
-Raul's quest is apparently fixed so I'll finish that.

Good stuff so far. I'm primed and ready for Dead Money now. If it releases this Tuesday.
