Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon |OT| Sloan's blanket is six feet of my shit.

The soundtrack for this game is ridiculously good. It should be illegal to make such a good soundtrack because now I don't even want to shoot my guns.

This game is virtually unplayable so far on PC. The framerate shits itself any time I move the camera to a position where I can see the ground.

I'm getting performance almost exactly comparable to Far Cry 3, even a little better. 1440p/4x MSAA, Very High settings, 50-60fps.

Maybe it's your AO settings. There's three different ones with varying performance impact. I think I'm using HBAO because I don't really care about AO settings, I don't think it's ever worth the performance hit for the effect that it has, outside of still screenshots.

Shadows and AO will quickly murder frame rate for little visual difference, especially in motion. I can't tell the difference between Ultra Shadows and Medium Shadows when I'm actually playing through the game, but I can tell the difference between the framerate.

For my review I had everything cracked for 1440p. Sadly there must be some weird setting hurting specific PC configs. Ballz that sucks.

I agree that things like AO need to be changed first.

Oh my god this game is phenomenal... Guys if you on the fence, go for it.

With regards to performance, so far it's been rock steady with everything on ultra at 1080p.

yup, no performance issues and no crashing like with FC3 vanilla. i dunno what they did but it's pretty rock solid.

Spent all day with this on Xbox. Got my full 'cheivos, had a blast and a half! Dat ending... So glorious.

If you're out for cheivos, keep an eye out past the place of no return for the one animal not on the map.

"Sniper Rifle: The short-range weapon for when you accidentally select the wrong weapon."

This game doesn't stop being hilarious.

I tried switching to DX9 where those AO options aren't even available, and the same thing happens. :(

Just finished it.

Major ending spoilers:

The last part was like the end of HL2 but on Heroin Steriods. Holy fucking shit, can't believe it.

When the dragon shouted that it had fucking lasers coming out of it's eyes, that was the best thing ever.

This is exactly where I want gaming to go. Small, 4 to 6 hour story with solid gameplay.

I hope Ubisoft sees this as a pilot project to see if doing a reskin of a game with a heavy emphasis on an original story is worth it.

This is exactly what I want out of the Bioshock season pass.

I would love to be playing this right now, but the code AMD gave me doesn't work. I have to wait for a new one to be sent to me (whenever that is...).

Sucks :(

Yup, as soon as you walk into that final playable area my jaw pretty much hit the floor and stayed there for the duration. I don't even.

I know it's a whole can of worms not worth opening, but I would have actually played multiplayer of this.

Imagine the Blood Dragons in a multiplayer arena with Unreal Tournament style shooting.

I can't say that I share this sentiment. Seems plenty fast to me.

Actually it's the level 3 upgrade that increase the speed so you might not have noticed in the first 20min before you get to level 3 but it was kinda ridiculous. It's fine now.

That's probably what it is. I started off with the Shotgun so I probably never used the Rifle for more than a few kills in the first half hour.

This game has one of the best Shotguns, ever. By the way.

Jesus Christ. My Xbox controller turned off before the end of the credits.

If every name of a person in those credits were a samwich, they could feed a small Adrican nation for a week. Tens of thousands of people work at Ubisoft, we get it.

Edit:
HOLY SHIT YOU GET TO KEEP THE KILLSTAR OH MY STARS.

No perf issues here. Runs at least as well as FC3, and I'm pretty sure it's actually running better.

So far, the game only had me worried about its quality during the tutorial bit and first 10 minutes or so. It seems to believe that it's funnier than it actually is, but it evens out afterwards. At least so far. Throwing 20-sided dice is puzzling and I have no idea why they thought it fit in with the setting they've created.

My favorite reference so far has to be going into the sewers to kill turtles and seeing pizza boxes everywhere, and I'm pretty sure ninja music was playing too.

You're overthinking it.

This is game developer id run wild and it's glorious. So much of this game is explained with "Because they felt like it" and "nobody told them they couldn't".

How's the "high-impact sex scene" that was noted by some ratings board?

This should sum it up for you:

Despite the retro love, don't think that Blood Dragon is a kiddie game. There is swearing (lots and lots of swearing), story text about lost genitals and even nudity. Granted, it's 256-color nudity, but there's still blatant nipple. Yes kids, that's what CompuServe porn was like back in the day. It's not the kind of game you want to play with your mom in the room. Just sayin'.

I want to make this an alert for something at work. Just haven't decided what for.

Found myself with an extra code for the soundtrack.
First person to name the lady doctor in the game will get it. yay, games.

What's with the volume in this game? I have to double my normal volume just to hear anything...

I can corroborate this. Even with the volume slider as far to the right as it will go, I still have to crank my volume knob to an unusually high level.

It would also be nice to have individual control over the SFX/Music, rather than only a Master slider, but it's not a huge deal. I generally prefer to lower the SFX and raise the Music in most games, games in general mix the ambient music pretty low. And in a game with a soundtrack as great as this, I want to hear it all the time.

This may be paranoid, but can someone summarize the Uplay T&S? It's gigantic, bigger than EA's for sure. And is Uplay like Origin, i.e. a client, or just a launcher?
