Comey did not have to do this. I repeat, Comey did not have to this. This was partisan at worst and really incompetent at best.

I suppose he figures he's gone anyway if Hillary wins. In the offchance he strikes gold in finding something here, maybe Trump will reward the guy who won him the presidency.

No. THis isn't how this stuff works. This potentially brings in the legitimacy of the FBI. He literally said we don't normally update congress on ongoing investigations. He didn't have to do this. He knew exactly what was going to happen when he sent that letter

Hillary wouldn't have made a pissed off statement to the FBI telling them to stop dragging their feet if she was even slightly worried there might be some damning evidence in these emails.

I'm really sick of the GOP and can't wait for that entire party to restructure after the drubbing they're about to receive.

Keyword here is potential. So why, 11 days before the election are we having a meltdown about something that we know nothing about? This will influence this election whether or not anything comes of it, that's why this is bullshit. Comey should have waited another week unless he had something substantial enough to put handcuffs on her today.

damned if you do, damned if you don't. If (IF) something did come of this and it turned out the FBI director sat on it all hell would break loose. The letter was clear enough, the media ran with it and by next week it will be over. At least he was sensible enough to do it on a Friday.

The 'IF something comes of it" is the point though. He doesn't know that anything will yet notified them when he didn't have to and knew that this would be misunderstood. If something DID come of it then he would have to notify congress of course, but as he states in the memo the FBI does not normally inform Congress on ongoing investigations. So it isn't a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.

That's what it boils down to, isn't it? The people who received the letter in Congress, one of those dumb fuckers went to leak it because 'omg october surprise.' Then the media ran with the story-"Clinton investigation reopened!", but it wasn't that. Now that the whole kerfuffle has settled down, it's turning out that the letter was never about Clinton herself, and that Comey(Through the internal memo leak), knew he was blowing hot air by releasing this. Now he's got the media against him, Clinton challenging him, and everyone is saying he's incompetent. And he really is.

This is hilarious. This is fucking hilarious. This is the craziest election in the last 100 years.
 
"You ran an investigation against me so I'm firing you" isn't a good look. I expect he'll leave of his own accord because I can't imagine them having any sort of working relationship.
 
What's the theoretical justification Comey's throwing out? "Weiner is married to Abedin, who is a top aide for Clinton, so therefore these E-mails are relevant"?
