and now in a move that will certainly turn me heel... watching random TNA videos on youtube and I like the commentators, they are quite energetic instead of the usual anemic state in WWE.

Lots of horrible angles from 99-01 WCW. What's the one that sticks out to you the most that made you embarrassed to be calling it?

Well, I'm not so sure where the Yeti came in - I'd have to go back and look, but yeah, that was like the worst. It was a horrible thing to call and the angle was so bad.

The fingerpoke of doom was awful as well, I didn't know how to react to that. Also with Russo coming out and bashing Hogan at Bash at the Beach bothered a lot of people, but it didn't bother me at all.

I've called a lot of bad Lucha six man tag matches, where they would do good stuff but wouldn't sell any of it, and those were just horrible to call.

If I can piggyback, what was the most fun angle to call? Or angle that you were most impressed by? I'd have to imagine the initial Outsiders angle.

I had the most fun the night of Hogan and Goldberg at the Georgia Dome. But I go back, not to beat a dead horse, but to my first show at the Garden with Hogan and Bossman. I started out with Crockett and the next thing I know I am in the WWF. I probably had more fun that day than any other day in wrestling.

What, do you feel, is truly the greatest night in the history of our sport?

Well, I guess for me a lot of it could be pointing out to the final Nitro. Doing Nitro become such a chore and so difficult to do for many reasons, so I was glad it was over. Personally, one of the great nights for me was my first show at the Garden, with Lord Alfred Hayes and Hogan and Bossman in a cage. For me, those are the top two.
Was Scott Steiner as insane backstage as he was in the ring?

Yes he was. He scared the hell out of us all the time. We never knew what he would do next. Whenever he came out to the set, and I know I can speak for Heenan and Tenay, we were scared. I'm not so sure if he was sincerely like that, or if it was part of his gimmick and he wanted us to believe it, but we believed it!

Can you give us some great Dusty or Heenan stories from going down the road? You were the voice of my childhood. Thanks for everything. I love the podcast!

Heenan loved to play practical jokes on all of us, and he loved to get us announcers traveling with him laughing. I remember once we were in a convenient store in Maryland and there was a line of people. We had snacks, soda, and Heenan knocked down one of the displays on the counter. He apologized and reached to try and help the lady and knocked another one down. This went on until he'd knocked down five or six things.

We laughed so hard at that. For months. Any time there was something on a front desk, he would do something clumsy to knock it down, and that always made us laugh.

Heenan's the beeessst!

So Meltz says people, especially girls/women turned off in droves before the main event of RAW. Dumb as fuck booking.

Not trying to excuse Bayley but what time does Raw air in the US?

If it goes for 3 hours and starts somewhat late wouldnt a lot of kids and young teens be in bed by hour 3?

Gran Metalik had his debut on 205 live and nobody said anything. You know your CW product is dire when not even Gaf cares ;_;

Probably but this decline was steep as hell.

Not giving her the first reign at Mania when everyone will be watching was dumb. No one cares about Charlotte's PPV streak.

They lost 290,000 viewers from hour 1 to hour 3. Women 18-49 went from .86 to .74 in hour 3. Females 12-34 went from .57 to .42 in hour 3.

Besides that Bayley needs a character that more people can latch onto. Yeah, she's great for little girls and pre-teens and all but teenagers and above it's hard on the main roster. Most people haven't seen her NXT run. Like, she needs something that makes people relate and connect to her and maybe this Sasha feud will be that. She needs to evolve from "ok she likes this kiddy stuff and she's nice and she's a fan who wrestles" to "ok this is a real life person who we can connect to that just likes some things like tubemen" and all. Bryan had a vegan character but he didn't really reach his peak until you looked at him as a real underdog because that's something more people can connect to.

That's what her character was in NXT. Sure, she had fun and was smiling but it was more about her being the "worst of the four" and rising up to be "the best", she was the ultimate underdog. By the time she was finishing off her reign was champion I personally forgot all about the tubemen, her high-fives, all of that stuff I forgot about. It was just about her being a relatable character.

It doesn't help Bayley's probably the strongest underdog ever what with her multiple clean wins over the champ and other superstars with commentary always putting her over and pretty much no one but the heel saying she sucks.

WWE can't do intentional underdog stories at all. Even Becky had a better underdog rise to the top and hers was unintentional with WWE just giving her bad booking all the time that got her over.

I like how Meltzer goes off about the female fanbase not buying into specific wrestlers based on his reading of the ratings as though he has any fucking clue what he's talking about in that area.

They're not running 50 Bosley commercials a show completely at random.

I saw on THE REDDIT that the 205 Live commentary team is good. Is this true? I haven't watched since the first episode.
