I mean, at least he gets to bask in all the love while he's still able to appreciate it. It feels weird calling this a happy ending but maybe it's the closest thing you can get to one in this grimy ass business.

Friend Beef, a lot of posters in here are already claiming they'll tune out, but my fear is that they'll just be back next week with their constant stream of negativity which will just bleed out into accusations against other members in the community, heck there are even people now actively trying to set the tone for the thread and future RAW's in a negative light.
I've only watched the royal rumble, two raws, and maybe 10 non new day segments since mania. The reason I even bothered to stick around was because this thread ( and I thank you all for that) but I simply just don't care anymore. I don't even get mad, or enjoy any of it anymore. I quit in 2001 and came back in 2010. So maybe I'll come back to enjoy KANE IN 2026!

Honestly DDP is probably the happiest ending.

I mean guys like Mick can barley walk and so many die young.

My eyes were filled with tears before he even started talking. I don't even think it's the fact that I won't get to see him wrestle again. It's because this young guy no longer gets to do the thing that he loves most, the thing he's truly passionate about. That in itself is heartbreaking.

hes essentially retiring off the back of a wrestlemania main event win his dad was there to see, he met his wife in the WWE, he can still walk straight, and likely has enough money to grow beets happily for the rest of his life.

that really is almost as close to a happy ending as you get in this business when the decision of retirement is actually not really in your hands.

i honestly never do appreciate a specific wrestler until they are out the door, I did it with bret hart, i did it with cm punk and I did it with daniel bryan. I never fully appreciated what they brought to the business with their craft and wish I could go back in time and appreciate it more in the moment

Yeah you could just feel that.

The note flutter at the start of his theme was it for me, after it bringing me countless instances of joy over the years, knowing it was the last time I'd hear it in his capacity as a wrestler was too much immediately. Then he started talking about his dad which hits home for me.

Saw Meltzer having dialogue with a fan on Twitter and eventually say that Zayn really is the closest thing they have to another Bryan. He's a guy who everyone wants to root for and just comes off as incredibly genuine.

Yes, Zayn has that powerful force of personality that grabs the viewer, just like Bryan had. Hell he already had a Bryan-like run in NXT from mid 2013-December 2014, and that was just to a small fanbase. While I don't think anyone will have it as strongly as Bryan, Zayn certainly has it in spades regardless.

Bayley has that too.

He's going to start a family, he's able to walk out on his own power, he got to have a sendoff moment in front of everybody in his home. On the other side, he admitted he had a bunch of concussions and came really close to not going to that NY MMA doctor with the expansive equipment.

This ending may not be the happiest ending Daniel Bryan's story could have ever had, but it's a happier ending than we could have easily seen. It may feel weird when you first think about it, but I'm glad the worst case scenario didn't happen here. We've already seen it happen a lot recently in the industry.

and a great role model for muslims, other than the other one with his "I hate america/terrorist esc" gimmick

It will be interesting to see how they push him once he hits the main roster after WrestleMania.

I agree that Bayley does, but I do think her star power is a bit more dependent on booking than Zayn's. I think Zayn is like Bryan in the way that even if they had him doing shit, he'd still get over. Bayley I think is less Teflon in that sense, and I'd be lying if I said part of that wasn't because she's a female in this company.

as much as i hate to see him go its a happy ending for me as well, he is able to walk on his own power, he is saving himself from further injury. If he has a child he will hold it and say it was all worth it and he deserves to retire.

It's far from ideal, it really sucks to have one of the all time greats have their career and passion ended at 34, but he is walking away with his health, financially set for life, a wife to start a family with, and that is as good as it could be under the circumstances. I hope he finds another passion after wrestling.

I wonder if not having Brock out there with everyone else at the end was a strategic decision or Brock had just left earlier because he didn't feel like sticking around.

I can see either.

Its not like he hangs out in the locker room or really knows anyone other than a few of the guys left from his smack down days.

I think you're overestimating both Zayn and Bayley.

Zayn may have a nice run in WWE, but I don't think Bayley will translate. She'll fall somewhere between Summer Rae/Paige and The Ascension in terms of her reception.

I think you are vastly, vastly underestimating Bayley. A lot of how over she gets will be tied to how she's booked, but she can be a superstar of the highest magnitude if handled correctly.

I'm not making any predictions whatsoever about their careers or runs. I'm simply saying they both have the same magnetic personality that Bryan had, that draws fans to them on a very personal level.

Was a hell of a RAW to be at. Energy was through the roof. Biggest pop was for Bryan, second biggest was for Reigns (surprisingly even was louder than Lesnar - its a mixed reaction, but it is an order of magnitude louder in Seattle than Lesnar and Ambrose) - Lesnar and Ambrose were third and fourth. Seattle's a fairly smarky city - lots of Sasha chants and Owens was loved.

Retirement speech was rough but fun - Bryan being Bryan.
