pacquiao & mayweather as bonus characters in sf5?

Pac's camp has been sponsored by Capcom/Sony for at least a couple months. They've been decked out in SFV shirts and stuff on more than one occasion.

Wouldn't surprise me if Sony has splurged on advertising during the fight. That's a lot of eyes.

Sure, probably. It's mostly not a good spectator game because watching 99 seconds of footsies isn't exciting to most people, but I mean... people still praise CvS2. There's more than enough potential for matches to end quickly in SFxT but two players with solid fundamentals are gonna have a hard time forcing eachother into a position where they just have to guess.

Timeouts weren't even that common post-patch.

tHAT's all in the past; as is if you know how to use your characters and you know your combos, matches can be over real quick...and flashy!
Like the first match in this set for example

Interesting, thanks.

People kept saying this after v2013, but as somebody whose only exposure to the game was when it was streamed at majors... timeouts were still way too common. Even if it wasn't true in general the perception was still there.

Fair enough. We live in an age where, for better or worse, perception in the eyes of random stream monsters is an important factor in any game's life cycle. I'm just saying that doesn't necessarily mean SFxT is a bad game. In a tournament setting especially, people are going to play as safe as they can. It just happens that in SFxT that means backing off and fighting for positioning more often than it means going in and running 50/50s.

Personally I don't have a problem with timeouts in general as long as there's a clear leader. It's weird in a game like smash where the "life lead" means relatively little but it's never bothered me in traditional FGs.

SFxT will always be the golf of 2D fighters. Way more fun to play than to watch.

In it's highest level, yes, timeouts happen quite a lot. It's way too easy to lame out in SfxT imo. People get in, do as much damage as they can in one combo, then back away and just punish stuff.

Maybe if the stages weren't so goddamn huge it would be harder to run away

My SFxT story:

Evo, two years (maybe 3, I forget exactly) ago, first match, on stream:

Me vs. Infiltration.

I got bodied SO hard. I could hear the commentators talking shit about me, and I couldn't help but laugh while I'm getting beat up.

I want to play this game again.

Infiltration's Jin was so strong that he made me want to learn Jin.

You know CvSNK 2 is more fun to watch when non of the top tiers are used, case in point

NWM was so tiring, but so good. Bringing Arturo was totally worth it. I already bugged Shouta about bringing Koji back next year. So worth it. Ogawa might keep coming because of the anime scene (130+ entrants). Sad that SCR got canceled - Markman told us that had SCR been on its normal date, that Mad Catz was planning to bring all of their players to NWM as well.

Did we get any new SF5 info?

No new info.

However Capcom is extremely good at hiding their development process. Given that SF5 is going to release in Spring 2016 that means they probably have over half the starting roster close to completion.

I'll say it again. Mayweather is going to Ogawa Filipino Champ.

Saying Mayweather is gonna win isn't exactly "calling it".

I don't think it works like that. Unless by "close to completion" you mean a in-the-game-and-functioning sense.
What did Smug do? EX Ducking Straight?
He does Ultra 1 to it

edit: to everyone talking about the fight: remember that SF4 had a reveal trailer during an MMA fight when it was first announced. This seems in line

FADC backdash is not safe for Ken? I saw smug just punish it.

Momochi often waits for the second hit to FADC to confirm whether to dash forward for Ultra or whatever.

FADC on the first hit is -5 (in either direction I think). FADC on the second hit is -7 (also forwards or backwards). Dudley's Ultra 1 is 7 frame startup.

Thus, punishes all day.

FADC backdash is unsafe in general unless you do EX DP then fadc. It's upwards of around -10 I think? It can be hard to punish simply due to distance.

It's -5 if you dash forward. Backdashes have more frames than forward dashes.

Is there any footage of Ogawa playing casuals or MMs at NWM? There's something really entertaining about watching total zato1 domination, but his matches were over instantly on stream

I love the talk about asses in games when only 3 developers know how to make ass. Only 1 of them makes fighting games. I don't want a fighting game from Bioware. Those assholes kept blocking Cassandra's ass in Dragon Age 3....

Platinum should keep doing them.

Very few of you play Team Ninja games so you will never get a fighting game with proper asses. Even though Capcom and SNK used to give Chun and Mai proper asses but the next game they removed it.

The lack of skill in ass making in games drives me up the wall like the nostalgia critic when he screams about "WHY IS THE DEVIL DRIVING A FUCKING CAR, IT'S THE DEVIL! WHY WOULD HE LIMIT HIMSELF BY DRIVING A FUCKING CAR"
The devil does whatever the fuck he wants

So if you want proper asses gaf you must demand better hometown.

I just find it funny that 2 of the developers that made models with great asses are from a country where their women have pancakes asses.

The US devs have no excuse. They all love a fine ass!

Good to know. I was never sure whether they somehow made it the same for backdashes or the greater frames for backdashes were left alone and you were more unsafe.

Either way, Momochi never tried to dash forward for some reason, too scared of the cl rh I guess.

True or false, did you spend time learning R. Mika's flying peach custom combos?

Also otg command grabs were pretty cool that you can do that in CC.

"Across the Nether,
Around Outworld,
Everybody Quan Chi Tonight"

The worst thing is the commentators would get on you more for smiling after getting beat up. "WHY IS HE SMILING? HE'S HAPPY HE GOT BEAT BY HIS HERO?? I'D BE UPSET! HIM SMILING IS MAKING ME UPSET!". SFxT was a fun game though.
