Better colors

Also his pants go down to his boots and don't look stupid. Also his jacket is now two colors

I don't really get why they had to "Zombify his coat".

Oh trust me, you weren't. It's one of the big reasons the game looks slow to me.

Cool cool haha. I like how ASW games were like "let's tone down hitstop" and now SF5 has so much hitstop I thought that gif was a KI combo for a second.

Them toning down the hitstop made everyone complain about online though :p

Maybe this is capcom's way of handling their own shit netcode :p

Pre-order for beta access.. love it.

I like Nash's move set being a hybrid of VS series and... Decapre/Seth. Not huge on the zombie-esque look he has going on, but I'll take him over Guile any day.

As long as I can use my BB GCU to pre-order and get into the Beta, I'll be square.

Definitely buying into a PS4 before MKX hits.

UNIEL is $24 for Plus members on US PSN

2 GB? Wow...well getting it digital.
Damn, that's a crazy good price for launch. (I don't know if they're being very aggressive with it, or super desperate. Or both?) I was going to go buy a physical copy, but I already have a retail JP copy so I'll just cop that instead. And given the usual take on physical and digital releases, they still make more money on the digital version per unit, even at that price.

There was one other bit about the announcement with the main hall passes at Evo selling out:
We’re also proud to announce that in only 24 days, both Ultra Street Fighter IV and Smash Bros. Melee have surpassed 1000 registrations.
That SSBM number is insane -- they're already over the number of players at Evo last year (and Apex this year), only three weeks in. If you need a main hall pass now... you could always volunteer to judge. :p There's always a shortage of judges for UMvC3, damn slackers.

As for next year... if SF5 causes even a fraction of the growth SF4 did, everyone's gonna need a bigger boat.

They're likely going to need a big convention hall next year. They're in the right town to do it in though, GP Las Vegas had nearly 5K MTG players in 2013.

Doesn't seem like many do, which I don't understand. If it's a matter of server and human resources, they could just limit the signups for the beta.
It's a lot of work -- you basically have to fork off a demo build and polish that up separately from the main game, and a lot of the time most of the work for that is just wasted as stuff changes in development. It might be a bit easier if it's a true beta (in that the game is largely content completely and is in the polish/QA phase), but someone still has to go in and strip content out, make UI/UX adjustments, handle certification on a non-final version, etc.. It may still be worth the PR benefit... or to dodge the PR hit games like The Master Chief Collection or Driveclub took.

I fail to see what is scummy about preordering to get into a beta

I think it's just the idea that you they can't give out Betas anymore without having to satisfy their investors at the same time.
The whole point of a Beta is to test the game but also get the audience educated on your game, not to pretend that people actually want it; especially if it's a new game.

Basically:
I'd like to try to this game out, but in order to do so, I have to put pre-order money down. Which defeats the one of the reasons of a beta.

Then put out the beta without attaching it to a pre-order?
I don't quite get what the advantage with this is. At least with pre-orders you can allocate closed beta keys via retailers to players who you can be confident are slightly more inclined to follow through with a purchase. This isn't technically an open beta. Seems like only an advantage for the company with a negligible amount of nuisance on the consumers part.

Where are you pre-ordering where you have to put money down? Not even EB does that here.

I would think the purpose of a beta would be to stress-test the most important core features, which are less likely to change drastically later in the dev cycle. Just getting the netcode worked out satisfactorily would be a huge boon to a game like this, IMO.

You're paying $5 (which you can get back) for closed beta access. It's not the end of the world.

Mike Tyson is still alive.

1) he's still Mike Bison in the Japanese version of the game, so even if he DID want to sue (and he obviously doesn't, or he would have by now) he could have

2) Capcom can just claim parody.

The reasoning for changing it was always chintzy/stupid, and I don't believe it'd actually have worked as any sort of legal defense. Especially since now it's common knowledge Boxer is Mike Bison anyway.

What, so you can pay for new sticks and to play online? :V

Probably wouldn't even get AA for the backgrounds in the move to PS4 either.

Already had my stick modded for PS4. Started playing Xrd.

I played UNIEL at my cousins house before we both moved away. I liked it but no PS3 means no UNIEL and that blows.
