Ehh... I think the whole "Zombie-Charlie" aesthetic looks hella stupid. He's got hair growing out of the patches for crying out loud. Doesn't look very interesting gameplay-wise, either.

And I'm starting to agree that the game is starting to look too slow. I'm guess I'm getting spoiled by Xrd. I really want to like SFV, because Street Fighter is THE ground-based footsie fighting game, but I probably won't even play this with those walk speeds. We've already had a slow-walkspeed SF, it's time to speed things up in that department at least a little bit.

Online beta pre-order is not a good look. Kinda worse than the character b.s we have been seeing lately since netplay is so important for some consumers.

Pre-order on Amazon, get your code, cancel pre-order. I did that for the Evolve beta, it's easy as hell.

Random thought, but I want Yun to ride his skateboard and Yang to wear his roller blades in fights for SFV. Unlikely to happen, especially if the game is super slow on purpose, but it would be fun.

Pre-order Betas are dumb, but eh. Activision did a closed pre-order beta for Destiny and that was opened up eventually. Capcom will do the same thing for SFV, and if not, the game will come out eventually.

How is a refundable five dollar preorder beta worse than eight dollar character DLC?

Having good online is overall more important than a character for the masses. Yea 5 dollars is a paltry amount that you can get refunded, but why place it behind a barrier in the first place? This is limiting the amount of people that will test it.

I don't think he's actually supposed to be a zombie, dude. Just put back together and revived. He's alive, he's body just looks a bit funky now.

That's my take, anyway.

SFV is definitely too slow for me. I'll wait and see how it turns out, maybe they'll have some new characters or modes that make things interesting but at the moment it looks like its headed in a direction I don't like. Still wish they went with a marvel style capcom allstars game but oh well.

Agreed. Fuck slow walkspeeds.

Also, enough with the shadowloo storyline. Put that shit to bed.

Bought UNIEL to support anime games that aren't outdated by the arcade yet. Haven't tested online yet, hope it's as good as Persona/GG. A bit unfortunate that there isn't a comprehensive wiki yet to compensate for the lack of tutorial or anything. I don't know what shield does, or if backdashes have frame one invul, etc. Fortunately, this games feels like Melty in a lot of ways, especially in the fact that it seems a lot easier to play than the myriad of systems would suggest.
Watch these tutorial videos from the devs, they explain a lot of the mechanics and should suggest the "flow" of the game.

UNIEL's still awesome to play. Not sure if I want to jump back into online right away though.

Netplay felt fine for combos because of the buffer I'm assuming. Neutral against Vatista, Hilda, and Carmine, not so much.

I really hope they change the walk speeds. My complaint in SFXT were the large stages. With even larger stages, I want better ground movement.

I did say "aesthetic". Besides that, considering your interpretation, the description mockingly fits, anyway.

Yup. And my Viper loves her some foosies. Truth be told, whiff punishing with cr. Fierce is one of the most satisfying things in fighting games. Wouldn't even be plausible in SF4 if her walkspeed was whack.

I play a number of characters in SF4, actually.

Trust me, if I owned a PC, I'd be all over that shit.

Capcom looks really sensitive about the walk speed thing, there's absolutely no walking in the new trailer. :)

I think walk speed and jump speed will be something they will be definitely be testing and keeping an eye out for. IIRC during the loctests for Ultra (or whatever early builds that Combofiend was bringing to places) they were playing around with walk speeds of different characters and even Chun had a crazy fast jump for a while. So I think something like this definitely can be tweaked without doing any crazy revamps or past some point of no return where they can't change it anymore. I think a beta is definitely a great way to iron this out, since many people have said it looks and plays slower at this moment such as Daigo.

"Man, fuck SF, it's too slow"

*SF sells the best of any non-Smash Fighting Game*

"Hell yeah, 2F overheads!"

*Cosplay contest has more entrants than the actual tournament*

Got to give those cosplayers props, they have more dedication than most fighting game players. When you think about it, grinding out those knitting skills to make that furry Felicia bikini is way more practical than grinding out combos.

In the current time? I thought was injustice/mortal kombat if you don't count the four different iterations of SFIV all at once.

Of all time? That's Tekken 3.

Anyway who cares. I think SFV looks REALLY good. I can't wait to play it.

I'm just generalizing, don't take the intentionally hyperbolic statements too seriously. :p

We didn't even see walking in that trailer though... We just saw Charlie punching dudes and hella hitstop. I'm just assuming those kinds of things are in flux man.

Also just remembered that I hope they bring back charge partitioning.

Walking's not featured in the trailer, but from what we've seen of the WS thus far - it's slow. I was premising that post on the notion that the game looked slow, in general, and just decided to harp on the WS.

I'm not big on the undead aesthetics or whatever the hell he's supposed to be, but he is by far, by FAR the most interesting thing about SFV shown thus far, gameplay-wise.

I'm really interested on how Bison will turn out in SFV. Hope they use this chance to change him up.

Make him Marvel Bison.
