A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
It is when you realize you pronounce it as Ah-Ku-Ma.

Gouki is a better name.

No because when I was looking up MVC1 cheats it said you can turn into Gouki and I thought awwww shit I get to be Goku.

And you couldn't even do it in the PS1 version iirc so it was double disappointing

You couldn't even switch characters on the PS1 version unless the other player had the same two.

HOOOOLLLY FUCKING CHRISTTTTTTT CHARRLIEEEEEEEEEE

Ryu had a super that made him play as Akuma or Ken in ps1 mvc1. Holding start or select let you start as Ryu Akuma or Ryu Ken.

Also ps1 mvc1 forced you to pick 2 characters or 1 character and assist iirc.

He had that in the arcade version as well :p

Came in and was wondering why FGW turned up a few notches before seeing that more SFV footage dropped. Neat. Charlie looks fun. If none of my other SF hopefuls come through, I might just pick him up.

The game looks (visually) much more vibrant than before. Not feeling the "Zero standing H" levels of hit stop on a lot of stuff though, but I'm guessing that's just the dramatics for the sake of the trailer.

I can't tell if you're fucking with me or not.

If everyone knows the names are switched why would switching them back confuse anyone?

Balrog/Bison quit after a losing streak of several years, never making a dime of fight money. Nobody is able to remember the loser's name, so they just call him Boxer.

Vega/Balrog quit shadaloo or some shit and only took his Claw with him.

Bison/Vega once thought dead finally had reached the role of being a Dictator and brought back those he killed one by one trying to find a suitable body.

----

There, same type of fanfic shit Capcom would come up with.

Charlie looks super dope.

I like the new coat. His old one got shot up so he had to get a new one.

Also he needs big hands for duff city.

Damn...looks like Charlie hit the dojo and trained under Decapre and Rugal Bernstein. We got teleports and Genocide Cutter kicks!

So odds we see Street Fighter V in 2015? If they keep the roster small enough It could happen I think.

Pre-order for online beta is scummy but it's infinitely better than no beta at all.

Well, if you don't like it then you can protest by not putting any money down for preorder. Heck, I want early access to the game that I'm interested in if I have a chance to.

It's way better than paying for admission tickets to any conferences and cons to get hand-on on Capcom fighting games.

Online beta for pre-orders AND they found a way to make Charlie interesting?

Is this heaven?

Yes, it's. I'm pretty excited about it.

It wouldn't make sense to have SFV debut this year. USF4 is still releasing on PS4, nobody will buy it if SF5 is out. Also, SF4 is going to be the main game for Evo 2015. Again, it seems like it would make more sense to debut it in 2016, and then feature it as the main game for Evo 2016. Give all the pros time to figure the game out.

I think we would already have a release date if that were the case.

Well I don't know if they're so concerned about Evo. It's more like, we know that the current Capcom Pro Tour is an advertising campaign for SF5, so it would make more sense that the game is released after the pro tour is over.

That's cool too.

It's just one of those weird nitpicky things
Outside of enthusiasts, I don't think that knowledge is widespread.

Also, there is the potential for legal issues still, yes? I heard the original reason they got swapped was that M. Bison was based on Mike Tyson, and the names were similar enough that they could get in trouble. I have no legal knowledge in this area, but if that were the original reason, wouldn't it still be grounds for keeping the names swapped?

I wasn't planning to but UNIEL until a price drop but that PS+ price was great. Sucks I had to update my PS3 before I could buy it.

I addressed this earlier, but I don't think their swapping M. Bison would have even protected them, legally, especially considering they didn't (and still haven't) change the name in Japan.

The entire endeavor seems to have been completely half-assed from the beginning. I don't think anyone involved at the time had either checked with a lawyer, or looked into fair use/parody laws.

It reads (and still seems) like a quick-fix fingers-crossed band-aid at best.

Where's David at.

I'm guessing early Spring 2016.

Casuals probably don't know and I'd assume that's who'd be confused.

Not gonna lie...Genocide Cutter is one of my favorite SNK moves right up there with Double Repukken, Fire Crow and Raging Storm.

Seeing Charlie with it...or anyone has me happy. Its always great when they add a lot more depth to an old character's arsenal.

In many places the personality rights (including the use of someones likeness or name) are not very extensive, so you can barely stop people from using them even if they're directly making money off it.

The US seems to have a pretty strong protection on those so it'd make sense to play it safe if you publish a game over there.

Edit: In general though, i agree that changing some names around while still keeping the likeness is unlikely to amount to much. >.>

Bought UNIEL to support anime games that aren't outdated by the arcade yet. Haven't tested online yet, hope it's as good as Persona/GG. A bit unfortunate that there isn't a comprehensive wiki yet to compensate for the lack of tutorial or anything. I don't know what shield does, or if backdashes have frame one invul, etc. Fortunately, this games feels like Melty in a lot of ways, especially in the fact that it seems a lot easier to play than the myriad of systems would suggest.

I really really hate being the portbeg guy but I would be all over UNIEL right now if it was crossbuy with PS4/had a PS4 version.

Tempting! How is the netcode?

I do want to steal some waifus.

I can totally see this perspective. I just don't know what's true! :p

Online beta pre-order is not a good look. Kinda worse than the character b.s we have been seeing lately since netplay is so important for some consumers.
