I love Venom as a character, I even plan on learning him, but fighting a clean Venom is the worst. Especially if you play Ky/Sol/Pot et. al. Character doesn't have to take any risks in neutral, probably has the best YRC projectile in the game via Stinger, has a clean vortex, unrivaled corner-pressure etc. etc. I think the character's way better than people think.

I'm gonna do an inversed-Sanford against Hunter one of these days. He's gonna get me salty and I'm gonna unplug his stick and smash it.

Save myself some money.

His damage is too shitty for me to be annoyed by in Xrd. Like I see all this fancy shit happen I look up and I still have more than half health then I feel pitty

Venom's damage is not shitty. He does comparable damage to Ky, if not comparable, better, without meter or Counter Hit, and has much better oki.

Venom is one of the roughest matchups I've played in GG at my newbie level. The last times I played good Venoms, it just felt like he had a button or setup to shut my Elphelt down completely. The absolute worst was hearing after the fact that all I should have been doing was staying on him since no reversals.

A surprising amount of Venom's damage comes from chip.

Which is kind of ironic since it seems like Dark Angel's chip and Tension decay is trash now.

better damage than faust though.

Getting in on a good Venom is easier said than done, especially if he has any meter. Stinger YRC covers so many bases it can paralyze you if you're anticipating it. You just have to make the most of your knockdown and bait the dead angle.

I'm pretty sure Elph's f.S and 2H would be good against Venom, though. Kinda like Ky's f.S, you could use those to harass him just outside his f. S range and stop him from setting up.

A surprising amount of Faust's damage is in his items.

Venom starts making sense when you understand that all his blockstrings in to ball sets are still negative, and sometimes even punishable depending on character. So even though he may have put a string on you and got a ball out, that ball starts in your field and you gotta make him get around you to hit it.

But then Xrd and YRC happened, so shrug.

More like his mixup game. He has to spend hilarious amounts of resources to get past the 140 ballpark, but then you realize he's a space control monster and a ghetto mixup character. The amount of openings you can score with Faust and convert into those 120-140 point combos is pretty hilarious.

So is anybody here interested in KOF 2002UM on steam? I'm trying to learn about the game at the moment and I'm trying to not be sad about the online community ahead of time.

Yatagarasu can still be a good online experience without a flourishing American scene because of GGPO, so more or less I'm just biding my time until then.

Watching some videos of UMK3, I kind of wish MKX had the same game speed and animation style on strings (the low frame count snapping from key pose to key pose really quickly). And that running was a faster input than two direction taps and a button.

But maybe I'm the only one.

Yes, but I live in Europe ;_;

The game looks pretty nice - kinda like a less combo heavy and bit more pokey 13.

In fact, FGW, have some 2k2UM:

There is less real estate, so there is more of a focus on the neutral game (when you're good). It's kinda vortex-y if you and your opponent pick characters with proximity unblockables+resets and know how to do the max mode combos (which are, essentially, HD combos without the auto-dash)

It's my favorite KoF that I don't play much because the skill gap here is huge, so yeah I'm interested. Unfortunately Mexican internet...

Anyways, your XIII experience should help you when learning 2k2UM more than any other KoF

2K2UM some how has more Kyo's than you can fit on a single team.

Hell, technically with SNK's definition of clones you can even have a match entirely with Kyo and clones and not have a single character repeat lol (Kyo, Kyo-1, Kyo-2, Kusanagi, K', Nameless, Shingo if you see him as a gameplay clone somewhat)

R/Kappa has a poll to sponsor a player out to Final Round and somehow ChuChu made it onto the poll. He campaigned for it and a lot of his sponsor's fans mass voted and he eventually sky rocketed to the top over Infiltration and Kitasenju DJ. He was disqualified and now a bunch of Brazilians (including Chuchu I think) are pissed off.

As far as I know anyone can be nominated and voted in by the public. Social media campaigns aren't against the rules because there really aren't any rules.

I understand why they disqualified him. Nobody there really wanted to see him and they are the ones donating money to send the player out to a tournament. To top it off he's already sponsored.

I think Infiltration ' s Decapre scares me more than his Akuma. And not in a good way. It's annoying as hell but very effective. Same as Trollento and Elf. And I swear all Decapre players Dp more than online Kens. What is it about that stinger move? Lol

Same thing happened to Pro Fluke. Both DQs richly deserved.

lmao this is even worse than pro fluke's situation as chuchu is sponsored by an esports team.

Infiltration isn't sponsored? If not, that sounds like a decision he made. No way people aren't scouting him. And will other strong international players be attending? Otherwise he's pretty much guaranteed to win. People have to really love the guy to pay for a trip where he's going to make even more money..

I just realized my last two posts make me sound like I hate him. Lol

Yeah, I'd rather the invite go to someone else as well (I voted Kazunoko), but I understand why people would vote for him due to his stream antics.

Some players are just fan favorites like Infiltration. Poongko is another one of those players that is a fan favorite. Infiltration isn't currently sponsored, but he probably has an easier time attending overseas tournaments than Poongko and is probably the more likely player to get a future sponsorship.

After reading that thread, it seems like they didn't expect a player they didn't care about to get mass voted in by people who aren't a part of the community.

The guy behind the sponsorship also said that it's possible that they will send 3 players to Final Round. So Infiltration, Kitasenju DJ, and another player might end up being flown out by them.

No, he was disqualified bc there was a bot mass voting him.

8 frames of sweet, sweet invicncibility bruh

Add in 9 frames active and I can use it scrubbily in footsies to catch errant pokes too.

No, he was disqualified bc there was a bot mass voting him.

Nobody knows for sure. It could be that or it could be his very popular sponsor's fans mass voting him in. Chuchu was explaining how popular his sponsor was in Brazil and supposedly one of their esports personality also campaigned for him. The official reason for his dq was what you said, but there is some uncertainty.
