I got Ramza Soon™ before I went on hiatus for a few months and somehow got Orlandeau and Luneth randomly on pulls this past couple wks.

So who's got all the best top tier units Free to Play? I'd consider anything below $5 F2P (I spent $0 but still)

I have not spent a penny on this game, and while I don't have anywhere close to all the top tier units, I think I've done pretty well:

edit - Looks like Officerob takes the title so far. Both Nier Rainbows? Oldmandu, Noctis, TT, Greg, and Ace? Sheeeeiiiitttt.

I only have 2 Noctis of all those (and Aileen, Wilhelm, Marie, Seabreeze DF) and Ive spent 75$ - $100 in the year+ Ive been playing.

Yeah it really is all about the rate up at this point.

And still the chances of pulling a banner unit will stay so low. I wish they would improve banner rates more than anything else.

I'm glad I never put a cent into the game during that time frame. Regardless I'm already looking back at the times when I did spend money and shaking my head at the immense waste of it all.

My first Lapis pull in-game was a Rainbow. Garland.

It's weird to think about. I wouldn't have even put him in a Rainbow list, but I guess it technically would when we were allowed troll Rainbows.

Still haven't used Aileen, Olive or Tidus and Oldmandu has been benched for months. Currently running Freyvia, Rikku, Refia, Delita and either 2nd Freyvia or 100% evade Nocktank...

Edit: Trance Terra (also unused, hence I forgot) and Elza who only got a run during her event initially, but to be fair self raised herself against Aigon to help me through.

So 10 5* bases, no money spent. Not really a useless one in the bunch either (just not displacing Freyvia at the moment. Got a few non rainbow rainbows in my I initial few months too.

Sephiroth's Masamune is sick though. 150 attack and Doublehand on it? Also gives Sephi an attack too.

150 atk katana is insane considering the so-called 12 weapons katana is only 106 with DW as a perk. I still believe 106 on sasuke's blade is way too low but I digress...

So 25k lapis for a guranteed Sephiroth OR the monk girl. Goddammit I'd have at most 20k saved up by then and I bet I'd get the monk girl even if I actually popped my f2p cherry.

There is a chance that you wont get rainbow at all but if you get one then its either S/L and if you get multiple rainbows its still S/L.
Or do you get guaranteed S/L on Step 5?

Each time you do an 11 pull you get a reward. So your first 11 gives you a 5* 10% ticket. You second 11 gives the next reward and so on. However they changed the rewards now so there's 5 steps and better stuff.

The step system for the FF7 banner seems cool. Although it seems there's some conflicting information/interpretation of what the rate up for 5* means(Total chance or just on-banner chance). Since step 3 seems to be a guaranteed 5* I want to believe the more generous interpretation that Bonkeng posted. It looks like you're allowed 3 "laps" of the Steps which boosts my hopes a bit.


Either way I hope they use the step system in JP as an excuse to fast track 3% rainbows for Global.

So actually looking and reading this step up program thing again are we sure that step 5 is in fact a guaranteed banner or is it a guaranteed banner if you pull a rainbow. It's not exactly clear which one of those it is.
