Okay, that is what I thought it was, and it seems like a lot of people are thinking it's the other way where you get a guaranteed banner 5* PLUS anything else you get in that roll. That would be too generous.
So, I started playing this at launch and kind of dropped it for a year? Or whenever Ifrit was the last summon you could get. I've recently jumped back in (Caught the tail end of the Nier stuff) and have basically no idea what to roll for, or look for.
Any ideas for somebody jumping back in?

Whatever the case is with this step system, it's so much better than a 3% rainbow rate up that I'm seriously thinking of never pulling (except dailies to quench my thirst) ever again until it's on global. It's that much of a game changer IMO. Even with a 3% rainbow rate you'll still get multiple 11 pulls without a single rainbow. Knowing that the step system exists will just make me extra pissed off if I were to go 50 pulls without anything to show for it.

Well you say this but JP only just got this so really isn't it them who's been taken advantage of this whole time lol? Chances are if the trend continues we'll get this early as well.
I assume the step up system only works with lapis pulls and/or the current banner, so I'll still blow my 10+1 and ex tickets as soon as we figure out the change is here.
Speaking of which, how will we know the 3% rate has hit? We couldn't even figure out the gold banner rates were shit for months. Didn't the same survey that showed the gold rates were bad also show the rainbow rates were at 2.5% or something? Any guarantees we're not already there?

I strongly feel we'll never know unless Gumi says so. The collaborative effort of people posting what they pull is always going to have discrepancies and a bias to gloating about good pulls. Hence the alleged 2.5% 5* rate.

Sweet baby Cecil. So I read that right this morning. I would get Monk Girl and I would be pissed though ;_; Don't want trash. And why the hell is this a FF7 Mog King event when we have one freaking FF7 bonus unit. They should allow those with Cloud to use him. (I don't, so doesn't affect me, but still.)
Currently at 22k Lapis in JP. Been doing story so will have 25k in no time. But not sure I want to spend 25k to get the stupid Monk. I guess I could burn that first to see what I get... then turn to tickets if I have to. But I'd also have to pull a Rainbow. But I guess I have resources. Hmph. Stuff to think about.

Yeah, it's this. Then you also get 3x rates on the 5-stars using the rates for the FF7 banner as a base. That means both Lila and Sephiroth's rates become 1.5% instead of the .5% they are normally and then 3x increase to all other 5-stars as well. For single 5-star banners, you'd get 3% on the banner 5-star in that case. At least, that's my assumption.

Okay, so it really is a guaranteed banner 5* on the 5th pull not just a you have to pull a rainbow for it to be the banner unit? That's much better.

Yeah. It's in the fine print below the image. Even if one didn't read it, the image makes it clear that it's 3x 5-star rates +/Plus 1 Sephiroth or 1 Lila

2x Greg as chainer + Olive as finisher doesnt sound too bad though, but i also wouldnt mind just pulling OK on friday lol.

Greg is a unit I have been thinking about for a few weeks regarding enhancements. It makes no logical sense we haven't received them yet as they aren't really game changing in any way. So, my personal opinion is they are probably giving him some form of buff because if they don't he isn't going to come off the bench for pretty much anyone.

But he's not fully enhanced yet (mostly), and tbh not overly enthused by his damage on alt that I don't know if I'd want to run him on main right now. Yo, as a F2P I consider myself pretty lucky. I have a few units that I would call "top tier" but....actually nevermind. Oh I don't think I put this in here from earlier. I did a yolo multi pull and got Light Veritas. So 12 pulls one Heaven and one Light. No water.

Greg seriously needs a buff to his enhancements; he is way behind the curve right now, especially to his Tri Attack which, fully enhanced, becomes 12-hit attack with a pathetic 300% multiplier. A2 and Onion Knight have over their ST abilities that have 500% multipliers with 14-16 hits; Greg needs an imperial, perhaps wind, to make him competitive.
His Snowpetal is slightly better, with 571% multiplier fully enchanced with ignore defense taken into consideration. It's an AOE, which is nice, but it's a single hit, meaning it's useful primarily as a finisher. Given that even Bartz has a 700% AOE attack, this enhancement too is dramatically lacking, and not worth the investment of precious precious Power Crysts.
Gumi'd GL enhancement release schedule is quite simply all over the place. They are way behind. There are some very old GL exclusive 4* and 5* units that still have not seen any enhancements what so ever: Halloween, Christmas, Lunar New Year units.
Demon Rain, Darcu Lasswell, WKN, Ling, Yun, etc. are well overdue for enhancements. Halloween units especially are ancient.
They said 2018 for 3% during france fan festa according to someone who went there. They have a schedule in place and the things going on in JP version have probably been taken into consideration while making that schedule.
I think that's probably Gumi's plan right now. However, money talks, and if people are actually acting the same way they are talking here and on reddit I wouldn't be surprised to see a change sooner. Nier burned a lot of people, it's just a question of whether they learned or not.

Focus on maxing every 6* capable unit.
If you're wedded to that account I'd toss 21O and Adam and put in Setzer and Beach Time Fina until you can get a proper tank and healer. However, since your only base 5* unit is Lightning (who has been completely outpaced and is now arguably the worse 5* base unit) I'd strongly consider restarting and rerolling until you get a strong 5* base. You won't be missing out on much except the exclusive Nier units but losing out on 9S is probably still worth getting to pick your starting lineup. Onion Knight, the 5* character on the next banner, is a very strong unit with innate dual wield which makes him fantastic for new players. The OT should have links to how to reroll if you want to do that.

I'm most interested in Lila because she has the Damage Up after X use attack and she's a 5-star. She also is gonna be pretty solid with Doublehand because she'll get 2 or 3 attacks per turn.
Sephiroth sounds like he could be pretty great though. Masamune getting innate DH helps him a lot because it gives him more freedom to get attack up.

For people who have Basch, can he aoe magic protect and aoe physical protect? I understand he has moves to do both but can they both be active at the same time (as in turn 1 physical aoe cover, turn 2 magical aoe cover)? I think I've asked this question before but I forgot the answer lol. Not that I have Basch, just trying to understand something.

Believe they said before 2018 for Cloud and said the 3% will be coming, with no date determined.
I figured October/November, because we got normalization and the Crystal change a few months ahead of JPN's timeline as well.
Now, it's going to be harder to keep holding it out. With how tied the GL community is to Reddit and the Step up system is really making GL not worth the buck,
