Syntsui seems like the only one that has been able to fight it, know of a lot of people that try and they can't get back out.

As you said it's bugged, I've cleared it within the time limit and haven't gotten the reward.
I'm waiting them to fix the rewards before I attempt to get them.

Since it seems like some people are still having issues: If you can get into the game but all the options are greyed out except "World" which causes a crash, from the main screen go to Menu->Return to Title. This somehow forces the game to check if you have all the assets and downloads what you were missing. My partner and I both had this issue and this solution worked for both of us.

Try unistalling then reloading the game. Worked for me.

Cutscene ends.

It starts playing again.

And so on.

My game is stuck.

I got black screen instantly when launching as well. I had to close the app and reopen it many times until the Square Enix and gumi screens appear (can’t tap on screen until it says connecting otherwise it goes black screen again). Yeah, pain in the arse.

If you can't copy/paste and have to make new stuff, it's apparently too hard to put thought into it. Happens often enough in Japan...but there's only three daily missions and you just need to clear whatever the moogles mission is...normally very easy

Finally got into the game. Had to uninstall and reinstall the game. Moogle fusion is so helpful. Freed up 8 unit slots and so was finally able to accept the 200 items in my inbox lol (all moogles and burst pots). Only took me an hour...now I have to do raid summons...

Working for me again.

I hit restore in the main menu and redownloaded everything. When into the game and everything was still blocked off. Hit return to main menu and went back into the game. I hit another download screen and when that finished it was working perfectly.

0 Problems so far on ios 11 on an iphone 8+. Only the mermaid kill error and the missing text. Plus in one cutscene jakes and lids text was overlayed, but aside from that everything runs smoothly.

For the forest.

Just enter a new screen.
If the fish statue is by you side just go back and you will enter the mermaid screen.
If not, just go back and enter a new screen.

No running around and random encounters.

This is garbage. I had to redownload everything for the game to work because for some reason it was forcing me to play the tutorial as if I’ve never played it before. And now its only giving me the option to play the story mode... what.

I'm having the exact same issue, and just saw this on Reddit:

I was able to troubleshoot this a bit. Looks like a problem with phone permissions. I'm running the amazon android app and got the same behavior. If I go into my app settings and turn off phone permissions, then reopen the app, the game loads after allowing the permission again. Has to be done each load or the same black screen behavior occurs.

Works for me, turn of the FFBE phone permissions, you will get the popup when the game opens, but it will work. You have to do this every time you close it right now though, but it's like 15 seconds compared to 5-10 minutes of redownloading.
