I really enjoy pretty much all of VIII's OST except Eyes on Me. Faye Wong is an amazing singer but I just don't like the lyrics. The song can arranged quite nicely for instrumental tracks, used as a recurring theme, though.TruePrime said:FF VIII has the most amazing set of tracks.
Maybe I'm a Lion
The Extreme
The Oath
Eyes on Me
Force Your Way
Don't Be Afriad
Man With A Machine Gun.
So amazing.

Haha, I was thinking about linking to that. You read my mind, duders. And yeah, FLWV is a great arranged album.Electivirus said:Case in point. Incidentally, this is my second favorite FF arranged album. The first being the X Piano Collections.
Diablos said:I expect the Versus OST to be epic. I'd be, again, shocked if it's better than XIII. Perhaps on par with.
Yep. That song in particular is outstanding. I really love the drumming, very Jimmy Chamberlin-esque (makes me wonder if they're using his signature snare).Electivirus said:I'm hoping that XIII-2 can live up to XIII's legacy in the music department. Although I'm not sure if you've see the videos (I think Gamespot hosts them) of there being hip-hop songs about life in the world of XIII-2 and such? Really cheesy. One is played while running around, the other in what appears to be a boss fight. Hopefully there's nothing else beyond that.
Outside of those two tracks though, everything I've heard so far is great, especially Missing Link and the track you linked to.
Me too; if they can do hip-hop right, fine by me, but based on what I heard they shouldn't have gone there, haha.Electivirus said:I'm all open to new genres. If anyone can make it work, it's Hamauzu. He did the same for a bunch of genres in XIII that hadn't been showcased in the series until that point, so I'm remaining hopeful.
That's the main FF theme. It plays at the title card in FF1.ULTROS! said:I love how the Main Ending Theme appears in FFIV-FFIX + FFXIV (although it's not an ending song). Here are the awesome variations (not sure if FFV had the theme):

They ran out of space! What else could they do? Drop one of the dozens of chanting songs that are all the same?ULTROS! said:I'm sad that it didn't appear in FFX at all.
But the ending song is great too.

I might actually play VIII and actually form my own opinion. Just so you'll shut up.Gravijah said:me too
I am probably in the minority, but I don't like Somnus very much. Perhaps because it's kind of short and it's pretty simple in terms of songs with Latin lyrics (and I've heard and sung better (Lesiem, Epica, etc); ie: the vocal portion of the music is quite simple and I think that's what bothers me... I do not mind the instrumental portion at all). I understand the lyrics more now that we know more about the FNC mythology, but Distant Worlds is still my favourite FF theme song.ULTROS! said:Props up to Somnus too from Final Fantasy Versus XIII by Yoko Shimomura... lol, when I did that for a recital once, my vocal coach had me rewrite the lyrics and arrange it a little bit to make it fit the new lyrics better and to show off my range better. The vocal portion is really by-the-numbers...Diablos said:I really enjoy pretty much all of VIII's OST except Eyes on Me. Faye Wong is an amazing singer but I just don't like the lyrics. I didn't like VII, so probably not. I mean, at least FFX's battle system was fun. Isn't DoC filled with time limits? Ewww...ULTROS! said:Maybe you'll like Dirge of Cerberus then.
Ew, Dirge of Cerberus. It wasn't even worth the $10 I picked it up for!ULTROS! said:Maybe you'll like Dirge of Cerberus then.
