...you should probably get that looked at by a specialist.

The reactions from girls are priceless though!

That's a pretty cool ultima weapon though, shame I never got into XIV. I've come to accept that MMOs just aren't my thing.

So like, I'm having difficulty beating FF13. I just finished the Taejin's Tower sequence, so I don't know how much I have left. But it's just really... boring. I DO like the battle system, but this game is driving me crazy being nothing but >battle >battle >battle >cutscene where bad characters talk to each other badly >battle >battle repeat (I'm sure these criticisms have been expressed about a billion times before).

I've heard FF13-2 is quite good, and actually has stuff like... NPCs and exploration, and I already own it, but I was hoping to finish FF13 first. Is it worth slogging through this game first, or should I just skip ahead to FF13-2?

You still have Oerba, Eden and Orphan's Cradle left. Three areas to the end of the game. Four if you're being really picky. Oerba is kinda okay.

But yeah, you're fairly close to the end of the game.

It's always hard to tell people to finish off FF13 because on one hand, the last third of the game owns (especially how combat opens up) and it should have been expanded upon and made the whole game. But on the other if they end up disliking it anyway you feel like complete shit for your suggestion lol.

i really want to finish it, but i took a break after i hit chapter 11 and haven't been able to get back into the swing of things. i've heard how much better it gets, but also the spike in difficulty

I don't! By finishing FF13 they can join in the shared suffering of all Final Fantasy fans.

Go the distance and finish XIII-2 and Lightning Returns.

You know you want to.

it has awesome music

Haha okay guys, I'll take another crack at it and make sure I at least get up to Oerba.

I do wonder how the development primer must have come into existence. "Let's almost completely remove all exploration and NPCs, and so tell the story/do worldbuilding exclusively through dialogue between the party" seems crazy, but it's obviously been designed like this, so... whose great idea was this? The resultant monotony of battles/party-dialogue sequences is kind of mindblowing for a game that was in dev for a decent amount of time.

Also, unrelated, but it feels like every single boss randomly swoops down out of the sky and then Hope or Snow say "Wow, he doesn't look friendly!".

I watched the ending on youtube.

And I was very confused because the song had NOTHING to do with the game.

At all.

I mean goddamn, how do you mess THAT up.

I PUT ON MY MAKE UP

You think that's bad? XIII-2's is way worse.

I'M GONNA SEE THE NEW WORLD WITH YOU, BABY

No, you're not.
You fucking just died. Your eyes be shut.

But hey, it's FFXIII. Everything about that series exists to hurt me deep inside.

So I'm on the FF wiki and apparently someone described FFXIII's battle system as "more tactical than Final Fantasy X, faster than Final Fantasy X-2, and almost as seamless as Final Fantasy XII"

I want to know who the hell this is.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I platinumed the entire Lightning trilogy

no shame

come at me

I platinumed LR before English version was out.

YOU come at ME

edit: goes without saying that XIII and XIII-2 were plat previously

I hope that's the first and last time a mainline FF's main vocal theme which was written specifically for the game is removed and replaced by a pop song which has nothing to do with said game at all.

To this day, I don't know why they cut "Eternal Love" and "Kimi Ga Iru Kara", unless it was because them Xbox Bros can't handle anything not in English ohhhhhhhh noez!

(Never mind the fact they left in "Suteki Da Ne" in its native Japanese in the NA release of FFX back in 2001.)

Fun fact, there were many other subtle changes like the lyrics for Sunleth Waterscape, despite both the "Japanese" and English versions having English lyrics.

Taejin's Tower to Oerba part was for me the best single moment in the whole FF13 right behind Palamecia.

That atmosphere. That graphics. Incredible.

X doesn't really require "tactics" Trio of 9999 kills every main plot boss.

I say they're close.

I'm not a huge fan of the Bleach artists take on Squall but it might be because he did the Dissidia version. I kind of wish Oda did Squall instead because I'd be interested in a One Piece style look lol

Cloud looks good but I don't see Naruto in there.

Where are you finding these?

Got FF XIII-2 today! It took me like 4 months to beat FF XIII so hopefully I don't push this aside. It seems overwhelming though, that Historia Crux has lots of places to visit.

It's actually a short game if you just do the main story and some minimal sidequesting. Took me a little over 24 hours to beat.

I'd really like to know when most of those were made because that looks like Kubo Tite's art style from the very early years of Bleach (I'm talking pre-2005/2006).

Also, I can see it's Kishimoto's Cloud in the eyes and from the rather flat colours.

Sorachi's Vaan is the best mostly because it makes me fucking LOL.

Don't be, I collect every single FFVII-related things I can find too.

Love what you love and fuck everyone else.

I started playing that the other day. I'm half surprised at how accurate its been so far... for an NES game.

I still find the Materia system implementation the most fascinating thing about it. The game does a surprising job of following FF7 up through the end of Disc 1 while making use of assets from other games in the series.
The game cuts out disc 2 and 3 and skips straight from Aerith's death to the descent into the Crater to fight Sephiroth.

There's also a fan romhack which goes crazy and makes it all even more faithful to FF7.

Although I love VI more, I've developed a fondness for just how quirky FFVII managed to be. That game had a lot to offer in terms of variety. From snowboarding to motorcycling to some sorta RTS game to Submarine warfare and Chocobo racing. And all of that wrapped around one of Square's most engaging stories and memorable casts. Plus the Materia system was a great step up from FFVI's Magicite system.

I really wish that if they ever did remake FFVII they'd only touch the cosmetics. To be honest, I'd be perfectly fine if it was just updated to FFVIII's level, visually.

This is true. No other game has really nailed the minigame experience that FF7 has.

(Definitely not X :((((((((( )

Man, I can do the seagulls blindfolded. Even the lightning bolts go down after a warmup. It's these shits that forever haunt me every time I play FF10.

I know my depth perception isn't the best, but fuck those things for having the most abstract hitbox in the world.

I'd be fine with a remaster in that style, but my ideal remake would retain the simplistic, barely-textured chibi style, with a vastly more complex lighting engine and far more intricate animations. Fluidly animated and well-lit field models on remodeled prerendered backgrounds would be the perfect update to FF7's original style.
