You know I was so overpowered when I face Emerald Weapon (Cloud had like 255 on every stats) that it was pretty much a normal encounter for me. I was baffle on why do we need 20 mins for that thing.

There are some enemies that's cheaper than bosses in FFVIII. (Rubi Dragon I'm looking at you) It basically depend on luck whether they use flare and instantly wipe out your party - which make drawing 500 or so of them a pain in the ass.

Here's a fun boss story for you. Back when I played FFX - I have no idea about the Dark Aeon and such and end up running into them when I gather the sigils for everyone's ultimate weapon. I was like 'How the hell am I suppose to beat these things who do 9999 damage in one hit?' I then tried Yuna's Overdrive with Yojimbo paying like 200,000 gil and laughed my ass off when it actually work. I don't know if it was intentional or not since bosses are usaully immune to death.

Ah with Ruby, You need to set up your materia so that you can counter by summoning Knights of the Round 4 times in 1 turn.

Damn FFVII is a broken game and I loved it so much because of it.

I didn't mind Shinryu, because Coral Rings do simplify that fight a fair amount. Neo-Shinryu, on the other hand, with his "maybe I'm not invincible this turn!" can go take a hike.

Emerald gets 4 turns in rapid succession. With two of these it obliterates your MP. The other 2 it uses to drop your HP by at least 7K. Then before you can react, it gets a fifth turn and you die. Unless you heal and hurt in the same turn, you have no hope.

But the worst in the entire series isn't Emerald. It's Proto-Babil and basically any bonus boss added to FF4 after its original release, but most especially the Proto-Babil of FF4DS.

You can sit there and pummel if for 100k a turn (assuming it hasn't just slaughtered you after 4 turns of focus) and it doesn't die for a good long while. But the reason it is such utter bull is because NO MATTER WHAT MOVE YOU MAKE, IT WILL COUNTER WITH OBJECT 199. Object 199 is an unblockable, undodgeable "YOU WILL DIE" move and it uses it every turn. No problem I'll just spam Arise! LOL NO BECAUSE HE ALSO SPAM'S BABIL'S-WRATH. Which is an all move that does ridiculous damage.

Proto-Babil in 4DS is bullshit through and through. All its moves are either insta-kill or spammed so much at so high a damage output it might as well be.

It took the length of 2 full episodes of Eureka Seven, BUT I MURDERED YO BUTT EMERALD WEAPON AND NOW DA MASTA TERIA IS MAIIIIINE.

Shinryu was a problem?
Heck I did it back in the day on JPN cart so I don't know the names of the equipement needed, but once you equiped 2 elemental rings and 2 other elemental rings, you only had to revive 2 guys and then whale on him for a good while.
It's the easiest super boss (after Omega) in the whole series!
I also never tried them before getting everything else (everyone being master in everything)

Problem with Omega is always how he retaliate THAT quickly.
I learned to love magic sword in that fight...
Thundaga sword on my swordman and then quick + double black mage and a good healer made the fight easier but still rather hard.
I don't go for special strategies so I brute force the whole games :lol

I remember cheesing Ruby with W-Summon KoTR > Mime back in the day.

Penance is still the toughest Final Fantasy superboss IMO.

He ain't got shit on Absolute Virtue though

Well that usually works, level grind like hell and you can destroy anything. I wish I had my save with my super party where I beat Neo-Ex Death so fast he only got one attack in. I bet that party with a little more grinding could whack Shinryu and Omega given the chance.

Only super boss I had to use a strategy for was Omega Mark XVIII (Or whatever the number was) from XII. I tried to beat him just straight up and almost did but once he turned red (EAT 7000 POINTS OF DAMAGE SUCKERS)...ugh. So much for that grand idea.

So from Vile Peaks to the Palom-polum it takes 4 hours assuming you don't get a game over a lot.
Battles are much easier now that I'm utilizing Saboteurs more so than in my previous playthrough(s), but damn at how much CP is needed to gain stats now: 400-500 depending on the character oof.

I see three solutions to sort out this issue.

~> The white one -- as in the "most pacific" one: canceling my tournament and promoting hers into DissidiaGAF since she was the one who came up with the idea of NA tournaments after all. Obviously this solution is far from being the fairest, neither is it the most productive.

~> The gray one -- as in the "most reasonable" one: scheduling the tournament to the next week-end, to the week-end of the 15th February. There is no other week-end said tournament can take place, for the following weeks will be reserved to Spyder's major. Problem is, there is also an European tournament scheduled for that week-end, wherein East Coast American players can also join; though none of them joined the last one. It was the smallest European tournament in the entire history of the site, a twilight more than a dawn.

~> The black one -- as in the "most competitive" one: may the best win. Her tournament, my tournament; same week-end. If that happens, I can guarantee you that will be the tournament wherein I put the most effort in my entire life-time as a TO for Dissidia. You ask me, I would go for the black solution without a shadow of doubt. You didn't see me posting the community thread here earlier not only because I had to finalize it, but also because I wanted to give the Massfia at least 48H to answer to my affiliation letter. Needless to say they still haven't replied to it, and I would honestly be lying if I thought I was getting any answer. Consider the following pitch...

Still calling the staff a mafia even though I see them as a sect now, granted how some individuals cowardly flip-flopped as soon as I got banned. Kurayami warned me about Khellendros being a suck-up to the admins several times in the past, but I wasn't bearing his stance in mind for I was yet to experience it myself. I understand where he was coming from now. I regret for not putting more stock into it earlier.

The DissidiaForums' staff is the literal opposite of NeoGAF's: unprofessional, cynical and, ultimately, completely out of touch with their community. The comparison may not be warranted because NeoGAF remains a business wherein staff members do get paid for their work while DissidiaForums has to be likened to a volunteering association, but that doesn't excuse the cynicism.

One of my original plans once Kagari had agreed to go ahead with my project was to ask her to write the affiliation letter to Mass Zero instead of me to make clear the drama was behind now. However, the incident with that one staff member I mentioned in my previous post made me turn like "Yeah... well, maybe not".

It's clear that one staff member always hated me for the life of him, so that when he cracked down on me over at #DDFFCasual ("Get a fucking life!"), I was taking the heat all in stride. It's only when he brought up Kagari to the table that I felt moved, even so slightly; yet it wasn't misogynistic slur, all what he said was along the lines of "Whoever that Kagari is, your project will be of no avail." even though I already took the time to explain in great length over at the forum how important she was. I may be over-dramatizing here, but to me, his words were in the same vein as Mass Zero's when he attempted to replace me by Kurayami: both tried to reach me through my sentiments.

I've got to interact with three NeoGAF's staff members so far, and all three have been responsive. One of them in particular told me this...

It's not really so much about preventing them from getting popular or from people joining them, if people want to join other forums we have no real problem with that.

...which is yet another shining example of how different the NeoGAF's staff is than DF's: the latter would've said the exact opposite.


Pure concentration of disingenuous, socialist, haughty, unwarranted self-important and ultimately mind-numbing garbage. If I hate my father for the life of me, then I get over my adolescent crisis and leave the home sweet home, moreover if I'm 18+. It's that simple.

Should discussing with one of the three admins (Kraid, Spyder and Mass Zero) have to be warranted ever again in the future, I won't do it privately: I will ask a third-party to come to the meeting along with me. The very thought of any of those three makes me want to vomit in this day and age, even when it comes to Spyder. In spite of he wished me luck in my journey over at NeoGAF, it still doesn't change the fact I no longer trust him at all. And I even less trust Kraid and Mass Zero. Spyder and Dave were my only "antagonists" supporting the project.

I changed my password on all my online accounts that had the same as DF's as soon as I got banned there. Besides, another reason of why I didn't ask Kagari to write the affiliation letter was because that would have required her to create a DF account. I was uncomfortable with the very idea of the Massfia getting a hold of her IP address. That's the end I have reached, as romantic and melodramatic as it may be.

Feel free to ask me for more details on anything before you voice your judgment.

Sorry idlethreats, I didn't forget you don't like that crap at all. As it stands, I'm sick and tired of dealing with DissidiaForums and their Illuminati organization myself, yet I have no choice but calling them out if I want to serve the interest of the Dissidia community as a whole. Again, if Terrina refuses to cooperate, then my North American tournament will be the best tournament I've ever hosted so far; like, ever. Alternatively, if I'm sure no East Coast players will join DF's up-coming European tournament, then I'll go for the gray solution, the best one.

So, until the stage is set in the stone once and for all, you will still have to witness all this FF-esque, KH-esque and Titanic-esque fairy tale.

Gotta work for that CP man! :p But yeah keep going, dont worry about it much, just try and fight every enemy you find and you will be fine since as soon as you reach certain place you will be able to grind. Im trying to be spoiler free here because I dont really know if this is your first time playing. Keep posting so when you can actually grind for CP there are some easy way to do it.

FYI this is my 4th/5th playthrough, I aim to beat Gran Pulse WITHOUT grinding, I have a paradigm setup in mind to help me through it~
Oh and I'm gonna enter the giant airship soon to save Vanille and Sazh, would def. like Paradigm advice for this area since enemies are tough at this point despite how much I've buffed my characters =_=.

This playthrough I remembered when I used to consume CP once I hit a certain amount in previous playthroughs:
Post Anima, 500 CP
Vile Peaks, 1000 CP
Post Vile Peaks, 1500 CP/2000 CP (depending on character)
Palumpolum, 4000~5000 CP (depending on character)
Post palumpolum, 10,000 CP

For that matter:

Took me 3 hours to complete palompolum, although I did get a game over one or two times heh XP.
Fang+Light are the weakest combination if not the slowest, those Orion battles were slow as fuck, and it didn't help that Fang only know Slow =_=.
Snow and Hope weren't that hard, thanks due in part to both being ravagers, the Strike abilities function similar to Commando's ability and can sometimes prevent the stagger gauge from depleting.
Also managed to get a good number of Chips, I should upgrade Vanille's weapon at least assuming I can buy superconductors now~

I started up a new playthrough of XIII (haven't played it since 2011) and it's more of a visual mess than I remember it being. Something is wrong with the visuals on a fundamental level that even extends to the cutscenes and FMVs, which I find to be even worse due to the editing and cinematography. Honestly, I can't say there is another game that I have played that gives me this much trouble. On second thought, I would have to mention Knights in the Nightmare. At any one second there are a billion things on the screen vying for your attention to more or less the same degree. During battles I have to focus solely on the UI or I lose track of what is going on, and even that isn't an easy task.

Another complaint I am instantly reminded of is the controls outside of battle, which are on the loose side. Both the character and camera.

Just saw how it faired in terms of ticket and it is cheaper than I expected. Found a good, non-smoking, pets-free and with Internet access hotel as well. Better reserving early if I want to get myself a room that is remote enough from the other ones. Last time I got to sleep into one of these insular hotels, I could hear people moaning while banging. Terrible; lesson learned. I need one month to earn the money now.

Are you playing PS3 or 360 ver.? Cuz the PS3 version looks fantastic on my HDTV.

Eh they never bothered me much, but the camera speed needed an option to have it slower.

Will be the first time I get to travel on my own. Well, I did go on trips without my parents before, but those were either mere linguistic stays in England or a school trip in Japan (took Japanese in high-school). I'll gather the funds for this trip to LA from scratch, it isn't a "present".

Besides, sorry for not taking the time to shrink the pictures' sizes... I just realized how big they were since they made my computer crash.

Okay halfway through the uh Lindblum I think its called? Well anyways finished the first half of Sazh and Vanille's prison break, gotta say this part is...easier than I remember it o_O I think its because I'm not using Sentinel as a main paradigm, and am finishing enemies off much quicker. Fang still sucks as a SAB though.
I'll prob. grind before facing off the boss, but refresh my memory: Is Barthandalus immune to Status effects in his first battle?

Huh, I've never seen anyone complain about XIII's visuals. I'm not sure that I understand what it is about them that isn't working for you - care to elaborate? Or was the second part of your 1st para about XIII and not KitN?

Also, I was under the impression that you didn't much care for XIII? Why the replay?

Started playing VII because it's been a while since I last played it, but this time, I'm taking the time to talk to all of the NPCs and such.

And man, this game doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as I remember. (Like the NPC that explains the Select Button function.) It's great. :lol

Second part was about XIII. Admittedly the problem may lie mostly with my ADD brain, I'm not fully sure how to describe it. I find that the visuals don't guide my eyes well and it's kind of draining. I have the same problem with fully/heavy CG sequences in movies sometimes. Last time I played it I guess I adjusted after a while, or maybe the first environment, Hanging Edge, is just the worst. It's definitely busy.
Also, I was under the impression that you didn't much care for XIII? Why the replay?

Ah, ok, that makes sense. Some of the action sequences in battle and in cut scenes move way too fast to figure out what exactly is going on and I find that a little frustrating too. Like this scene for example - I like it, but it's hard to tell what exactly Lightning is even doing w/o slowing it down a bit. Sort of reminds me of some of the fight scenes in Batman Begins, which I also found disorienting and not particularly viewer-friendly.

NUTS. I'm at that part in TAY where I stop caring about the Challenge Dungeons. Also known as Palom's Tale. Blade Dragon is such a stupid hard boss for such a crappy party. IF YOU CAST CURE ON YOURSELF IT COUNTERS.

Well the visuals in FF13 are among the best the PS3 had to offer IMO, and I can follow the stuff that happen just fine ^_^;

Well seeing as Sly 4 is coming up this week, I'll play until I reach Gran Pulse, take a break, finish up some backlog then get back to it~

Played the game on a Low Definition TV... action scenes where absolutely unwatchable because of screen-tearing. Upgraded it ever since.

People don't seem to appreciate/remember how goofy this game really was, and I loved that about it.

Yea FF V is not a story to be taken seriously.

I always thought Zell was a pretty silly guy too, thought he took himself way too seriously at times which made him all the more endearing. Between him and Selphie's antics, I was pretty amused at VIII. Laguna is such a lovable klutz.

So I beat Chrono Cross in about a week. I wish I would have replayed Trigger first, I thought Chross was more standalone than it really turned out to be. Generally speaking the game was way too easy, I had some trouble with the Black Dragon but that's about it. I pretty much stuck with the same 4 or so members (excluding Serge) the whole time with pretty much the same strategies on everything. I also didn't realize that I
wouldn't be playing as Serge for nearly half the game
. I think what I enjoyed most about the game is how it doesn't always tell you exactly how to progress the game and you are rewarded for exploring and talking to people.

I've started Vagrant Story now. I know several people who loathe the battle mechanics but love the story.

I love Smith's translation work as usual.
