I love the game but I can't see it as anything but a minor step up from your typical cash grab game with a final fantasy skin on top of it. Sure you can play through the game without spending any money but you will never have a chance with the elite dungeons.

These kind of games try and exploit people with addictive personalities and are not much different than a slot machine at your ordinary casino. Dare I say they are far worse as you don't have to leave the house and there is no money to win.

Look I would understand if you got the buster sword guaranteed with the $84.99 coin option but it's borderline exploration of an obsessed fan base to have it still be maybe at that point.

There are people out there with big problems with ocd and addiction and I just think that there should be some regulation on how these mobile "games" structure their business model.

Or maybe there isn't anything wrong with what they are doing but I would be hesitant to catorize it as a game. Of course I would love to hear others opinions on this.

Now back to playing this and treasure cruise. :(

I am enjoying treasure cruise far more than record keeper. At first I was very impressed with the presentation of ffrk until the elite dungeons. Totally soured my experience for being so pay to win.

I assumed they reset the daily at 5AM pacific along with the free draws. Was hoping to get another gil run in. Spent most of the day today sacrificing pages and pages of garbage 1* tier to max out my 4* equipment.
Yeah, the daily is running on midnight PST time.

So uh, how would you make money?

i mean they don't include a reroll because they don't want to reward you for wasting your time just to get something you could pay for. chumps pumping money into the gacha is the business model. in the mean time, the actual game is balanced fine that you don't need to get it and you'll be OK
I'm a chump. :(

Simple. You reach the $85.99 threshold (or something similar), you get all the new items that were introduced on the new content cycle. Rinse and repeat for when new content comes out.

If you go under that threshold you play by the same random chance for the items when you do the gacha roll. That way it sets a high premium for the fan that wants everything 100% but still let's others take their chances if they don't want to invest as much.

Let's just say the superannuation ends up coughing up $84.99 per new content cycle which is usually once a month. That's about $1000 a year in profit from those kind of fans.

The way it works now is that most of the revenue from these games comes from a small percentage that spend $200 or more a month. These are not rich ppl either. They are also ppl who have problems with addiction. You can't tell me that building your business model around an audience like that is any different from the ppl that run casinos or the lottery.

It is what it is but it is in no way in the same realm as videogaming that has always been around. Sure there are micro transactions but there is usually a limit to how much you can spend on them (with some exceptions like Forza)

Sounds like you're putting a ceiling on your potential revenue. Just handing out the most powerful pieces for a set amount becomes a huge problem in a social game if you ever want to implement something like a PvP because you then have 20% of your population that becomes unbeatable, rather than maybe 1% that spent an insurmountable amount of money. Essentially, you're forcing tiers into the game when you disallow spenders to face RNG.

This EXP day is very generous.

I just started this on my awful, cheap tablet last night and it works okay. When I get a better tablet in the near future, is it relatively easy to transfer my save/data over to the new tablet or would I have to start again?

When do more characters come out? Getting tired of the current lineup. Also, is there an adult version of Rydia? Really dislike her child version, and always have.

Love these daily dungeons!

Just saved up 5 mythril and did a pill - git a 4* crown (a hold kbe) for Rydia. Real nice!

Also, what's the max level for characters?

So is the only way to increase max Stamina, by completing new content? No such thing as ranks like other iOS games?

Why are the IAP prices for these types of games so hostile?

I thought, hey this is kind of fun, I can throw these guys a few bucks, let's see how much it costs to pay for an "11 for 10" draw.

$30.

Screw off with that, now I'll just play for free.

I just redeemed my first 5 Mythril to do a roll of the rare draw and got

For people looking for Lesser Orbs but can't move on to Elite yet, here's what you can get from FFVI Normal. The parenthesis indicates what mission they dropped on when I started taking notes, but might not be limited to that mission:

-North Mines
nothing?

-Abandoned Mineshaft
Lesser Fire (2), Lesser Ice (2)

-Figaro Castle
Lesser Power (3), Lesser Lightning (3), Lesser Holy (2/3)

-Mt. Kohls
Lesser Dark (4/5), Lesser White (5), Lesser Non-Elemental (5)

-Imperial Camp
Lesser Earth (1), Lesser Wind (1)

-South Figaro Cave [sucks compared to Abandoned Mineshaft]
Lesser Ice, Lesser Fire

I went ahead and made this. Useful if you want to stack a specific type of gear or easily get **** equipment without burning Mythril. I'll make a fancier version later.
Yeah, if you're trying to save up 50 Mythril for max pulls and don't intend to spend $, farming and upgrading those 2* is the best thing right now.

Thanks for that, useful.

Just wondering, in the long run, what keeps the game interesting? I realize content will be added over time, but I doubt they have events that remain interesting for an entire week for example?

I will never, ever throw such money away at these games for trivial, consumable items. I don't mind supporting games with the odd IAP here and there for a few quid but the ludicrous amounts they ask is very, very off putting and greedy. Fair enough if it was to unlock the game without needing stamina/coins/whatever, but not for something that's going to expire eventually again and you're back to square one.

Anyways, finished all the classic dungeons, tried the easiest elite and managed to finish it but with a struggle (and continue) so I'll level up my characters and equipment much further. Cloud is currently Lv22 my highest but most weapons are just low level stuff. Need to farm those rocks things for upgrades whenever those dailies come round again.

That's funny, I just got the Heavy Lance from the S.S. Liki mission, so you can mark that as confirmed.

I've played games with this exact struture too many times. But being a sucker for final fantasy, I am enjoying the game so far.

I like the idea behind the game. I like the presentation and audio. But I am assuming there will be a point where you sorta hit a wall where you advance at a crawl, because all of these games have that type of point in the game.

It's pay to win because you have to grind up to get stronger to defeat the elite dungeons?

Do you know what "pay to win" means?

How do summons work? The widget on my iPhone says my next summon is available now. The game hasn't mentioned summons since Bahamut in the intro.

Summon Orbs are not being dropped yet, so you can't actually unlock any new summons, but Rydia's limit break is the Chocobo Summon. It's handy for all-enemy damage but if you're further ahead and have level 2 spells for Rydia, less useful at overall damage than those.

Rydia can summon Chocobo. It's complete shit and barely does any damage. I've not been able to create any other summon yet.

Thanks! I only started today and I've just been spamming the EXP dungeon, so I haven't unlocked Rydia yet.

My impression is that the elite dungeons are more intended for people who've gotten stronger weapons and armor from the lottery and need more challenge. Is this wrong?
Well if you're low level even with strong weapons/armor, it should still be difficult. I haven't gotten 5 star equipment yet though but I've got a few 4 stars and it's still rough at ~lvl20.

Can this game be played offline? I hate when mobile games require you to be connected to the internet because usually I bother play them only when I'm on the tube or on the plane.

I've been unable to unlock any more doors. I'm stuck with FFIV-VII and X.

Am I missing something? Do I need to wait or complete Elite Dungeons to progress further?

I mean I also think the Elite dungeons will make more sense when there's more base content, because there'll be a more gradual ramp from late Classic dungeons to early Elite dungeons.

Provided you've beat all the levels in those doors, the only thing you're missing is the prompt that made it clear to you that you've beaten all the classic content and more levels will be added soon with preview images of those levels.

This game is one of the most poorly optimized games on my Note 4 that I've ever played. Sluggish, laggy, nearly impossible to navigate menus...Fun, but annoying on nearly every level.

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I just finished all of the "classic" dungeons available at the moment, can't wait for more!

In the mean time I tried the first "elite" dungeon and got my ass handed to me. Stupid scorpion killing all my guys after I attack while his tail is down but goes up before the attacks go off.

I've been trading in my mythril for item rolls as I've been going along. No 5* stuff, but I did get 2 x 4* stuff and a few 3* equipment as well. I would probably pay to roll some more items if it wasn't so expensive.

Such an awesome game. Really digging it so far, taking it in bite sized doses though to not just blow through the content.

Question though, when should I start doing the daily dungeons? Tried a normal one and got one-shotted.

Saving my resources for a 10+1 is a bit tough when you've hit a wall in the leveling curve...on the plus side, Sunday = EXP daily....so I'm just spamming the easy today.

Curious as to what level people are, especially if anyone has the normal EXP daily on farm status / auto-battle (the way I'm doing the easy right now).

You should be able to beat easy; normal is doable by the time you get to the end of the currently available main content. I can't imagine anyone being able to reliably pass hard.

One thing I don't like about the IAP is that they've separated mythrils from gems. Means we can't combine both currents to make up for shortfalls. Struggling between whether to save the mythrils to 50 or use them for 1 or 2 tries for the buster sword.

Honestly, I wouldn't do either. 50 Mythril is basically the entire game right now. It makes way more sense to do some pulls and try to get meh-tier 3* or 4* equipment to be able to actually tackle the main game content than to save it all up just to get one item you promptly won't have any content to use it with. The Buster Sword is a good weapon and if you get it, great, but the only thing worse than a F2P game being ruined by a bad business model is ruining an F2P game by playing it in a way that's less enjoyable because of fear of the business model :p

I've leveled up a bit after beating all the classic story missions. Made some abilities and did a few rolls for equipment... Didn't get anything great but do have a few 4 and 3 star gear.

I've been slowly making my way through the elite dungeons. Seems to be going ok so far. Elites are hard but doable around lvl 25.

Waiting with baited breath for new characters. Really want Cecil and adult Rydia, among others.

Hmm. I think you're right. I guess I'll just make use of my mythrils whenever I want. If they're going to rotate and have special pulls with higher rates every now and then, that extra 1 pull from using 50 mythrils would actually be of much less consequence.

I auto battle normal with ease at 26. I can also beat hard without using mythril if I strategize.
