As a kid, I could never get far in Tactics. I'm 100% down to get this. One of the only things from the State of Play I'll personally get.

I thought for the briefest of moments that this would include Tactics Advance.
How silly of me.
I mean, it's called Ivalice Chronicles, so I thought the same at first too

It does seem low effort, but I'll take any modern way to play it at this point. Good call including the original.

I've been waiting so long for this, and it looks like pretty much what I wanted.

Widescreen, Voice Acting, New UI, and it kind of looks like they are using the nicer mobile version sprites. It does seem like there is some goofy looking filter over everything, I hope you can toggle that off. Regardless, this is one of my favorite games of all time and will gladly buy and play through it for the upteenth time.

Square Enix's site confirms it's for all modern platforms too, including Switch 1 and PC which is fantastic.

Is the "original" version the like...original-original? As in "blame yourself or god" original?

I could get into this if that's the case.

Bargain bin port. Will pick it up on sale. Better than literally nothing I guess.

Got this on PSN for $10 over a decade ago.

Damn I was always under the impression this would be a proper remaster/remake.
Looks about as low effort as it gets.

The remastered sprites are dogshit. Another (seemingly) shitty remaster to add to the pile.

At least there is a classic mode... I hope that one is good.

What's new in FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles?

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles has numerous enhancements that make this masterpiece even masterpiece-ier. For example:

  • A brand-new user interface - the game's UI has been completely overhauled to make the game even more approachable and intuitive. It's now quicker and easier to control your units, see turn order and more.
  • Updated visuals - the game's graphics have been reworked to look great on HD displays. The vibrant 3D battlegrounds and detailed pixel art have never looked so good!
  • Voice acting - The story now features full voice acting in English and Japanese from a talented cast, including Joe Pitts (Ramza), Gregg Lowe (Delita), Hannah Melbourn (Agrias), Timothy Watson (Cidolfus), Harry McEntire (Mustadio), Ben Starr (Dycedarg), and cameos by Cody Christian (Cloud Strife from FINAL FANTASY VII remake series) and Briana White (Aerith Gainsborough from FINAL FANTASY VII remake series).
  • Tactical View - this new feature makes it easier to get the lay of the land and plan your actions across the battlefield.
  • Battle speed - Speed up battles to fly through them faster. It's great if you want to blow through easy fights or quickly practice with different team compositions!
  • New difficulty levels - Do you want to really test your tactics, or are you in it more for the story? New difficulty levels let you adjust the game to your playstyle!

Available on the Square Enix Store, the Collector's Box features five carefully crafted items housed inside a beautifully designed Special Art Box, all created to commemorate the release of the game!

  • Special Art Box
  • Ramza Beoulve Figure (Akademy Version)
  • Zodiac Stones Acrylic Art Set
  • Chocobo Mini Plush set
  • Pop-up Art - "Outlying Church"
  • Art Sheet Set
It's available to buy with the game, which is not packaged inside the box, but will be shipped together.

If you're one of the sad sacks who still hasn't played this, then I guess here's your chance. But this is a little bit disappointing. It deserves much more than just a bare bones remaster.

So with this down, the FF9 'remake' seems to be the only notable announcement from the Geforce Now leak left.
