I take it the Steelbook will be the Early Purchase/Pre-order one...

This game was always going to succeed or fail on the strength of its story and atmosphere.

I wish people would stop treating the SH franchise like its supposed to be Resident Evil... The action element in SH has always been secondary to maintaining a certain tone and mood.

That's true but the combat in SH2 remake is tight and a solid improvement on the original.

Moments like this is when I wonder if ERA has been right all along.

And I wonder myself if we are at era HERE, when we even can't express how we like to play games.

I hate to play as women in games because I'm a man and I like to sort of identify me with the character I'm playing because it helps me with immersion. So what's the problem here??
I got used to it long time ago.
But when I'm forced to play as a fucking schoolgirl in her uniform, including weird anime-like squeeking voiceover in one of my favorite gaming series, godforbid I'd like to express my disappointment...

Sure but you also don't want frustrating combat, Rule of Rose had interesting story and heavy atmosphere but combat was absolute garbage which made it very difficult to enjoy the game.

Sucker for that stiff puppet style movement.
when enemies start doing big insta-twitching (like a torso abruptly takes a very different position), it starts destroying the suspension of disbelief for me due to the potential physics involved.

takes a lot of energy to move mass like that, and if they can do that, they can likely hit pretty damn hard too.. and my schoolgirl ass would be getting slapped around big time.

and ok sure, maybe regular physics dont apply because the enemies are supernatural or an extension of the protagonist's imagination or something like that, but then basically anything can happen and inconsistencies dont necessarily need to be explained, and it starts to feel arbitrary which things "act normal" and which dont.

basically start doing this instead of being immersed in the world

Looks fantastic, basically a Silent Hill with the Fatal Frame and Siren atmosphere.
I won't preorder now but if it is as good as it seems and like last year's SH2 remake I'll get it day one.

Not a fan of hit pause, always feels like the "BWWWWWOoooWWWWW" bass noise you get in movie trailers, cheap and nasty. Should be conveying impact with audio and animation. TLOU solved this with it's first game.

But i'm picking pubes here ^_^ It's not really an issue.
