Silent Hill F Releases September 25, 2025 | State of Play 2025

I can already tell this game's gonna be haunting as fuck, not just cause whose writing it. But just in this trailer, you can see enemy attacks kinda look like someone cutting their wrist.

Taboo subject matter aplenty.

Bloober pulled it off, so may be it is!
Bloober made mechanically sparse walking sims, many of which were solid within their narrow scope, while NeoBards put out nothing but utter trash. I love to see this kind of turnaround for a studio tho and I'm preordering SHf as we speak.

As a Silent Hill fan I'm definitely interested in this, but man, I am not a fan of the whole hit pausing thing at all. Especially in a horror centric title. I feel like we're seeing it a bit too much these days too.

Everything else looks pretty cool though. I'm just really hoping you can turn that off.

Yeah that's my only issue with it. I hope they give us the option to turn that down.

In games like Monster Hunter its a must but it's out of place in survival horror games.

- Amazing/really good graphics
- Good art-direction
- Great atmosphere
- combat seems SH2-ish and chunky which is good

...and yet, I don't know, this looks more like Silent hill X Fatal frame - maybe it's just me being tired of Asian horror and girls in school uniforms but, yeah...

Anyway, looks really good just not SH-ish enough for me

It's leaning more Fatal Frame but that's no bad thing. That series hasn't gotten new games since Maiden of Black Water in 2014, and other series like Siren are dead and buried. We need more J-horror.

Looks awesome to me. Love me some slow-mo crunch shots.
It's not low motion, it's full stop when you hit which makes it look weird.

The actual combat and even animation looks good, it just in my opinion it doesn't need hit stop.

Hey to each their own. Just my opinion. I like when melee has some oomph to it. Looks way more satisfying than the OG games where it felt like you were swinging a wet noodle.
I get that but I believe there is better choice for survival horror game have impactful melee without hit stop.

Even things like shake camera a little would be better choice in my opinion.

But again I need to play this first hand to how the combat feels…..we need a demo.

The developer said that its not needed to play the old SH games to get acquainted into this game . But I still hope there is connection to the other SH games to add interesting lore to it.

agreed. &, yeah, it's siren that this game reminds me of more than fatal frame. tho i also agree that the sailor suit uniform thing is getting sorta tired...

Dear God, £69.99 on Steam for the standard edition and £79.99 for the deluxe which has 1 item pack (seems to be in game consumables) 1 pink rabbit costume, art book, and soundtrack, oh and 2 days early access.... That's fucked pricing.

Even though ill buy it from a third party site, that's still some scratch. Probably be about £52 for the deluxe if past high priced games are to go by. Gaming can be so disheartening.

Edit - CDKeys has the deluxe edition for £49.99 and the standard edition for £44.99 as of June 18th 2025.

I mean, what connection could it possibly have my good man ? This takes place in Japan and it's as Japanese as it gets, can't really see it being connected to a redneck American small town in any way - unless you mean the cult thing ?

its not a full action game so it doesnt metter, its just to create the sense of impact
Yeah we will see how the combat feels when I try it in person.

I made mistake of severely misjudging SH2R based on trailers and full game end up being fantastic.

When comes atmosphere, setting, enemy design and what they going with the story, I'm absolutely in love with this game.

Not to mention based on its time period SHf is gonna take place loooong before SH1.

The combat system looks super stiff and janky. Don't like the fact that you're playing as a child. The rest looks aight.

Also this feels like the kind of game where you'll wanna avoid combat.

That girl looks like a brisk wind will tip her over.

Yes the cult, the origin of the supernatural, punishment or curse, and even the myth.

In 2023, Japan raised the age of consent from 13 to 16, making it the lowest age among developed nations.

Silent Hill F It is the eighth mainline game in the Silent Hill franchise. Set during the 1960s in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, Japan

True, but the horrific events to befall the town of Silent Hill started long before the 60's. Also, Alessa was alive during the 60's. Hopefully they connect that to some degree. Even if the town itself doesn't appear, it should still be a relevant factor somehow. Otherwise, having Silent Hill still as the title is kind of silly, like imagine a Fatal Frame game where not a single camera makes an appearance.

Looks great , kinda relieved that enemies still look like Silent Hill enemies . I was worried that it would look something like TLOU enemies with all the flowers and fungi theme . Phew

But the hit stop tho ...

I kind of agree, combat with hiccups was not needed.

One seems like a parry and the other like some kind of overhead charged attack. Both have a shockwave effect on contact. They seem to have some "hit stop" for all hits, but the others are barely noticeable (though they are quite obvious when you slow down the footage).

Still not sure how to feel about it, but I'm a bit relieved that every hit doesn't pause so much

SH2R taught me several lessons of not always jumping to conclusions. Reminded me that in a real deal videogame, game feel reigns and I should typically get my hands on a controller before going so balls deep on judging. I ended up loving every minute of that combat to the last encounter. Theres something so thick and wet about the impacts and the way the bodies thump on the ground.

So I'm gonna shut the fuck about this one and then pretend I always knew it'd be a hyper-banger if it turns out great!

Only thing I found weird was the out of sync animations: the tendril that grabs the protagonist goes through her and then appears back on the other side constricting her. Hopefully not something that ships, but weird to showcase it in a trailer if you plan to fix it. Other than that, seems good; like Resident Evil meets Fatal Frame.

That "traitor" taunt and its overreliance to sell the gravity is why anime protags should speak less.
What exact high school drama shit will this be to be labelled as a traitor and be all moody about this. females with issues on Silent hill.
