Final Fantasy Type-0 HD |OT| War Never Changes

Picked this up on launch, but have been too busy to play it.

Started it this past week and oh man do I love it.

Really setting my JRPG /Final Fantasy heart on fire. Intro sequence was so bloody and crazy that I stood up and waited to gain control.

Like the battle system, definitely have the desire to grind and what not.

Still trying to grasp some things (such as the abilities and the Phantoma leveling, but seriously happy with my purchase.

Haven't even downloaded FFXV beta and I've been waiting for that for half my life! (and then some)

Is Remote Play viable for this? I want to be able to grind while laying in bed, and I want to make sure vita can handle it properly.

Cheers!

See, I did shoot those, but they never went back at him - just exploded. Maybe my timing was bad? I thought that was what I'd need to do, but it never worked, so I just kept slowly taking his armor away with arrows, haha.

Everyone did die against the next boss, but it just sat there with the camera over them. I was worried, because there was no save point. I thought I'd have to defeat that boss again.

Should I be worried going forward? I'm wondering if I'm going to be screwed.

EDIT: I don't know how to add threelights' quote now, but I'll reply here: That's where I did hide, but even if I was in the far corner, he could still hit me.

You should be fine going forward! I believe my top 3 characters are 52, 50, and 49 respectively and I'm in Chapter 7. My next highest is only level 33 or something similar. I've been doing good just focusing on 3.

Hiding only stops his arm attack (the one that spins around). And you've got to be in the far far back of the room.

Also, a tip is: if the battle is too hard and you die without much of a fight, just keep going, chances are that's a battle you should lose.

Remote Play experiences in this thread have been very positive, so go for it ;)

I...was not having the same experience.

But that might be because I'm not sure what the remote play buttons are exactly and how to make sure I use them properly.

Also my remote play was not connecting great..literally down the hallway from ps4. And my vita is in room with router and all that.

Blast you remote play...blast you.

Oh noo.

Well, I didn't try it, so what I said was just based on people here that used remote play and enjoyed it =X

Maybe someone can come in to say how it was for them...

Got a funny feeling there's an issue in y hose latest patches somewhere. My remote play always worked fine but recently it won't even pick up standing next to the PS4. It will work on direct, but that won't reach far enough.

What's the fastest way to hatch a 100 chocobos for the trophy?

There are certain greens that let you create a flock of chocobo's, i cant remember what they are called but you can buy them from a shop.

It will hatch like 8 chocobo's at a time, just keep doing that every time you have a chocobo ready for breeding ( i think the wait is like 3 days)

It was the last trophy i got for the platinum so it does take some time.

Thanks for the help, as always. I appreciate it. This is my first Final Fantasy game in a while. Same with JRPGs.

So you know: I spent the whole fight in the far back. lol

Is the sledgefist giant in chapter 4 plus the boss? or does the mission continue after that? it was taking so long to kill him with breaksights i thought i was doing it wrong.

Perfo

Thirteen flew over the cuckoo's nest
Strangely enough the game didn't chart on EU PSN Digital Sales. Why o_O? Bombed?

How do I get more greens for chocobo breeding?

Also, if I'm nearing the end of the first mission of chapter 4, how far am I percentage-wise?

my first impressions of this game weren't very good because the combat was much slower than I expected. I'm getting into it now though (around level 18 each character) and I'm enjoying it. The between missions stuff kind of drags for me though. Is the best approach for that to just try to look for tasks to do and do all the classroom lectures? I find the "!" conversations kind of not worth it (usually get a hi-potion), and I'm too low to do Expert Trials.

Definitely do the lectures, but also try to breed Chocobos.

I skip the conversations, but always instigate them if I see an exclamation point.

Thanks, I do it if I have time to kill, but the reward is pretty lame. Tasks are okay, makes me go out into the world and do something, but it sucks you have to find that person again to get the reward. There's no way to warp outside of akademia is there? Takes a while to run to the gate everytime.

Chapter's 3 final mission was ugh, even being >8 levels above everything.
dumbly loss all my three high leveled players from not understanding how revives work and also Nimbus immediately killing a character at that one part and also the Brionic boss thing. I wish I knew to bring ranged people and not just melee folks like Eight

Revives?

Thanks

I've run out of greens, though, and can't figure out where to get more.

Can't guarantee you'll get the greens that increase the number of hatchlings, but the chest in the treasure room in Corsi Caves (not the room with the boss), tends to give greens. You can just keep exiting and re-entering to keep getting more.

I don't think I've found that area yet.

i've really tried to like this game but i'm hating it..

i feel like i'm doing something wrong, the game feels too difficult and magic inaffective.. :(

wish this was more like turn based stuff..

Visit towns as you unlock them through the story and you'll eventually find a shop that sells some greens. There are a lot of types of greens, and no one shop sells them all.

I got the 100 Chocobos trophy by Ch 5 or so without Gyzahl Greens because I bred every 6h.

Ch3 Boss:
No need for a ranged character against Brionac. Run all the way to the back, toward the camera, when Mog tells you. Then run all the way forward, target the floating electric Magitek Armors and hit them when they Killsight. Repeat.

I really made that fight more difficult on myself, didn't I? I royally f-ed it up.

Corsi Cave is on the first area of the World Map (leaving the academy on foot, just walk straight up, there should be a path in the middle of the forest, go that way and the Corsi Cave is at the end there).

It's a level 20 dungeon.

Also, to revive characters your best bet is magic (Reraise, or whatever is the english name =X)
And don't forget that killing Tonberries will sometimes give you their lanterns, those are consumable items that gives you a Reraise status, so if you use one and die, you are immediately revived.

I played through the game twice and never got a magic spell for reviving members and only got one single Phoenix Down

Really? I got it relatively early if I remember correctly (it's the magic I gave to Eight).

But yeah, there's one somewhere =X

Also, there are skills that gives the reraise status, like Rem's skill. King has something similar but I never quite understood how it works...

Guys. How does finishing magic work ? I can't seem to figure it out :(

Finishing magic? What's that?

Oh! You mean the ability some characters can learn?

It means that at the end of their combos you can cancel the last hit into magic without needing the cast time. And as you upgrade it, you can cancel straight into the stronger versions (-ra and-ga).

So I need to have a magic in my command slot and instead of pressing an attack button during a combo I press the magic button (triangle for example) ?

Yes, but you need to see when you're allowed to cancel. The ability's description should indicate when you're able to do it.

A few examples.

Queen can cancel after the last hit of her combo (the one that does that tiny AoE in front of her), and only then, you cannot cancel mid-combo.

Rem needs two abilities. She needs the ability that lets her finish her combos first (with attack + up or attack + down) and THEN she can cancel into magic. And I'm pretty sure later on you learn to cancel whenever you want with her, but I'm not sure.

Cater can only cancel from a charged shot.

And so on, and so forth...

But yes, the way to cancel into magic is indeed by pressing the magic button instead of the attack button =X

Thx a lot. I main Rem and I had a lot of trouble with figuring it out.

Also, when you open a map on a mission it shows those squares (areas) with links and next to some of those squares there is a small symbol, like a bag, what is it ? I thought it says that there is an item there but I never found any in the designated areas.

The bag is indeed items. Either a treasure chest or a shiny on the ground (usually the latter).

You usually just have to look around that area a little and you'll find it. Maybe it's on someone's corpse, maybe it's on top of some rubbles. There are two specifically that are very tricky to find, but the rest is quite easy to see them.

Also, a tip, Knowing Tags (that item you usually find on a cadet's dead body) are not shown on the map.

For Finishing Magic, I think you can just hold the magic button as the attack animation plays out, and the magic will fire as soon as it's able.

does the mark on the map disappear once you get all the items in the area ? I have been running around this tiny room for about 10 minutes now and I only managed to find one potion but the mark is still on the map :/

thx for the extra info

Ahaha, oh noo.

No, the mark doesn't go away =P

Items respawn after you complete the mission (or dungeon), so the icon is always there

You usually only have one item in those maps ha-ha.

Just got the Platinum trophy at 62 hours and I'm not even close to done with this game. Despite its flaws and quirks, this is the first time in a long time I've been so drawn into a Final Fantasy. I missed this feeling.

Looking forward to what Tabata is going to do with XV and hopefully Type-1!

I'd seen that before, but don't think I was able to go into it. I did tonight, but didn't get any greens - just a circle, and one other item.

I'm now at the beginning of Chapter 6, so I guess I maybe have a handful of hours left? As in four or so? I think my highest leveled character is maybe 24.

I hate how it jumps from one mission to the next without time to prepare or breed. I can't find any good greens, so I need all the time I can get.

That is not the only way of getting greens though, some of them you can buy in towns, sometimes you can go back to that place from the end of chapter 4 and you can find greens there, and I think there was another place you could get them too, but I forgot =P

Basically if you don't want to keep trying the RNG on dungeons every time, just go buy them in town or something.

And yeah, I'd say 4-6 hours until the end.
