As Bumrush said, it does not, and i am not ashamed either, it was truly a freeing feeling, not like it would be a chore anyway. it was just different this time around. I enjoyed the extra speed. Because i dont know why the battle fps is so painfully slow, i personally could not take it without 3x, i felt sick looking at the screen, outside battles it was fine though, no idea what is up there.

Yeah. I have 3x speed on all the time but I haven't used anything else. I plan on going for a Gold Chocobo for KotR etc legit (someone kindly posted a guide a few pages back) but the option isn't the worst.

The crazy thing is that the old ps one version is not that slow in battle..... I am talking about FF VII, i dont know what they fucked up, but the original ps one game is not that low fps in combat.
but yeah, that is one of the reasons i have never finished FF IX

Lol, I know this is hyperbole but not by much. If making this port didn't cost too much, SE should absolutely make VIII and IX with 3X speeds.

Hehe, almost the same length of time, seams to be the average, i lost a lot of time racing chocobos and finding the right combinations when capturing them.

But dont you feel that combat speed is broken in this version ? Overworld and navigation is as it should, combat is lower fps than original. I noticed it straight away. I have the UK version btw.

Max health and limit break cheat

Negative points:
Music resets after each battle
Menu glitches if moving too fast
Can't hold X to attack (at least i can't)
no custom button support in-game

Honestly the only thing I don't like about this port.

Shame I couldn't just chill and hold X with x3 speed on.

Does the US version (which I downloaded, because I had some credit there) also come with the European languages? Seeing that is has Japanese.

I actually haven't purchased it yet. I was gonna do so this week but now I think I'll wait until next week, as I'll be out-of-town. I'll keep an eye out and bear that in mind.

That's crazy. I don't ever go for trophies or achievements I'm games unless I get them through my normal game progression. I wonder if I just play this manually how many trophies I will end up getting.

Will cheat like crazy.

All i'm remembering is I had the PAL 50hz version (you americans say FF9 is slow, wait til you try the PAL version.. jeez!! instead of just a lower frame rate, the entire game is just slowed down to compensate. That means the ultimate weapon is impossible to get also.

The trophy glitches are funny. My brother did the Barret Date yesterday and it didn't even pop for him. He did abuse the Cosmo Canyon glitch though. I hadn't got that far but had been planned on using the Cosmo Canyon for Barret. Having heard that didn't work I decided not to bother with it and planned on a speed second run. The date ended up being with Tifa but the Bromance trophy popped instantly anyway. Pleasantly surprised.

Did anyone else play the game naturally and get anyone for the date (Aeris, Tifa, Yuffie, Barret) without abusinh glitches and get the trophy? Maybe the trophy detection just checks for the date happening and not specifically who you went with and gives you the trophy as long as you don't abuse glitches.

Corel mountains. Lots of weak groups of 5. All+magic should one shot them. I usually had no problems getting Limit 4 on her, I also gave her the guard materia and Fury.

The game froze on me yesterday. Or more like, my characters froze while the game kept running.

I was in the Shin-Ra building. I decided to storm the entrance because that gives you the most experience points. I went up to the 62 floor where Mayor Domino is. I exited the elevator and immediately tried to go back. Like IMMEDIATELY.

My characters froze in place at the entrance of the elevator. I could open the menu and still do stuff, but my characters wouldn't move.

I had to restart from the first floor of the building again.

The Mythril Mine is a good shout. Large enough groups that all fall easily to Matra Magic. That will do for kills, and you may as well use the cheat to build up your limits for normal use.

It seems the port is made for 3x speed. Suddenly the battles run at a good framerate. If anything, the low rate during normal battles is disappointing compared to the rest of the port.

You dont have to one shot them, feed the chocobo some greens as soon as the battle starts, and yes, as soon as you can buy stables in choco farm, you can work on the gold chocobo

Haha, that reminds me. I was replaying FF7 on PC a few months ago, and by that I mean the original disc-based PC release from the 90s, which I still own. Obviously, this version doesn't have any speed controls.

For some reason, the motorcycle chase was nutso fast -- like way more than 3x. It was more or less unplayable, but thankfully it's almost impossible to fail so I could get through it anyway.

I almost wonder if that particular minigame used CPU speed rather than real time.

The forests south of rocket town contain an enemy called "battery caps" only place in the world to find them.
I believe appear in groups of 6 and one cast of trine or aqualung should take them all out, that will help in unlocking the limit breaks that require killing certain amount of enemies.

I remember doing this years back in the PS1 days, I imagine it still works.

Oh, and you can also steal dazers from them, which help in the Ruby Weapon fight, if you want to plan ahead!

I must say, this port is beyond my wildest expectations!

- Analog stick support (well, that one was a must really)
- 3X speed up option
- No encounter option
- FMV looks cleaner than ever
- Environments look cleaner than ever
- The character models look great (clearly better faces than the PC version)
- and the kicker, ORIGINAL PSX SOUNDTRACK

My only honest beefs are:

- no image scaling options (wish it at least fit to the top/bottom edges of my TV!)
- cheat option (I can choose not to use it, but I feel it compromises the integrity of the game)
