Does anyone actually feel this way?
The PS1 version came out in 1997.
At a certain point, don't you lose the spoiler protection?
I have never played this game
Probably blends better with the backgrounds.hahaha! just discovered "Original Graphics Mode" turns off anti-aliasing. All the 3D models are as chunky and blocky as it was on the PS1
i am actually loving it for some strange reason

So are there any decent graphic mods? Looks pretty crappy.
Probably blends better with the backgrounds.
In a Final Fantasy 7 thread sure, but this is a "New release" thread, where new customers will be reading.
Better get to it then, chop chop.
Amazing game
Well I caved and got itKinda sucks that it has the SE account login stuff, but at least it doesn't feel so intrusive. It just pops up, lets you alter your settings and saves your progress to the cloud, which is nice.
$16 AUD is too pricey IMO, so I'm glad I got an american friend to gift it to me instead.
Keyboard controls are relatively simple to get used to, for those who don't own a controller. I could easily play either way, but seeing as I have a controller I guess I'll just use it![]()

Hi folks, I've passed on your messages regarding Steam keys, but unfortunately it's not possible to give out keys to those who have already bought another version of the game. I understand that's not ideal for folks wanting to use Steam to launch the Square Enix Store version, so sorry about that.
Also, for those concerned about not being able to re-download the game if you bought it on the Square Enix Store previously - you should actually be able to download it whenever you need to. There was an issue with purchases from the North American store, but that's something that's being/has been fixed.
I think it's a Half Life 3 situation. Fan expectations are sky high and they are probably afraid of the reaction. The reason why SE still haven't done a legitimate VII remake is because they know theycan yank us around with stuff like this.

I'm pretty sure even people that have never played FF7 have heard of "that" spoiler
Hey, just for the heck of it, if you're like me and bought the SE Store version and are steamed (haha) that they refuse to give out equivalent Steam keys as of now, they seem to be listening to comments directed at their blog post of the news: Final Fantasy VII launches on Steam
Their excuse so far:
If I can get a key for Xenonauts and a billion other indie games, this is some straight up horseshit.
Bought this after reading an article about mods for the PC version...
Little bit annoyed now to find out that they don't seem to be compatible.
why be a dick about it? just use spoiler tags if you think you're in a thread where the majority of people haven't seen what you're spoiling. For FF7, that's only like one thread. Just control yourself.
The game is over 15 years old, you don't need to use spoiler tags when discussing the story. That's silly.

Square should do something similar, if they have the source for the backgrounds they could do like they did with Flying Fairy and use the high res assets and paint them on a polygonal background and give me a 3DS remake.
Yes you do, people are reading this that still haven't played the game. Including the OP.
Why would you want to spoil them the story?
It's no different than spoiling something for a recently released game, you're negatively affecting somebody.
Games do not have an expiration date, spoilers are the same.
Do you really believe that someone should be punished for not playing the game back then?
Why should these people's experience be further diminished because they didn't have a chance to play the game when it was released for whatever reason?
If you haven't played a game that came out 15 years ago, then the burden is on you to avoid spoilers. Expecting people to spoiler tag discussions of something that old is unreasonable. Do I need to spoiler tag that in Star Warsas well? These things have a statute of limitations and this one has certainly passed.Darth Vader is Luke's father
Wait, what? He was his father?!? YOU RUINED IT!!! I was just about to watch it for the first time even though I'm 30 years old and have had my entire life to see it. But you ruined it!
No, no you didn't.
Perhaps we should also spoiler thatMario saves Princess at the end of Super Mario Brothers?
Since it's on a new platform

There's undoubtedly people on this board who were toddlers when Final Fantasy 7 came out, and hiding your spoilers takes very little effort.

Then they should avoid game forums. Should we also spoiler the winner of a Super Bowl from 1995? Perhaps we should spoiler that Link faces Gannon in the Legend of Zelda or that Freddy doesn't actually die at the end of Nightmare on Elm Street. Perhaps we should spoiler everything and anything? It's been 15 years. If someone wants to play it without being spoilered then get off the internet.

This is a fucking terrible opinion to hold. For the sake of typing a handful of extra letters in your post, other people should leave the internet?
It is unbelievably lazy and disrespectful.
If they don't want to be spoiled on a 15 year old game? Yes. It isn't everybody elses responsibility to protect a few from being spoiled for a PS1 game that came out 15 years ago. Sorry.

Anyway, i'm 99.9% sure that any gamers who browse the internet(which is like, everyone of them) have already been spoiled about Aerys/Aerith. She's like the "Luke, i'm your father" of the gaming side. A big spoiler that everyone, even people who haven't seen it, knows about.
It's not a responsibility, it is a basic courtesy. One that takes very, very little effort on your part.
And you think people should leave the internet, so you don't need to type some letters?
That speaks volumes.
Young people should avoid game forums? That's ridiculous, and so are all your comparisons. The 1995 Super Bowl is in no way like a classic video game that finds new players every generation. Gannon is set up as the villain at the beginning of Zelda games. And it's obvious that Freddy doesn't die in Nightmare on Elm Street because he appeared in innumerable sequels. Then they should avoid game forums. Who cares if it's been 15 years? Some people here, I'm sure, couldn't help that they were three years old fifteen years ago. Why spoil a classic game's major plot turns for them when it takes so little effort to avoid it? The effort is minimal and the failure to exert this minimal effort is extremely harmful. It's just not reasonable.
And the Star Wars example is dumb. It's unfortunate that a spoiler has become a part of pop culture, but it has. Final Fantasy 7 is not Star Wars.
Nobody is banning them from the internet. They are saying if they want to play a 15 year old game unspoiled, then perhaps avoid threads on a gaming forum about that game. Expecting us all to cater to them in bogus. The burden falls on them to avoid spoilers at that point.

Do we not usually state spoilers in threads for new releases on this board? Threads that contain spoilers for a newly released game, should be marked as such, and to my knowledge are.
The game is old, yes. This version of the game is not. There are people (many of them sadly) that would not play old games without achievements, and so this is the first chance for them to do so on steam.
There are people on my Facebook right now, asking if it is worth the price, and if it is a good game. I think it fair to assume they have never played it, and know little about it.
It is just a basic courtesy, that's all. It takes such little effort, that it seems crazy to just shrug and say fuck them, its old anyway.
