I never really understood that, when the tomb raider reboot series by crystal dynamics is probably the most popular thing they've published in the past two decades.

I also think Embracer got Crystal Dynamics & the tomb raider IP crazy cheap!

That being said I am enjoying some of the smaller budget titles from SE recently, like Diofield what I'm currently playing, not the usual kinda game I'd play, but I'm enjoying it a lot.

That barely lasted a year.... I actually gave it a try and liked it somewhat, but I'm not big on these live service multiplayer games and this is a big reason why. This is why people are concerned with gaming going towards live service. I sure don't want to invest time and money into something that could be shut down in a year or two.

Square still hasn't learned that it's ok to just release a single Final Fantasy game. Not everything has to be turned into some cross media franchise.
It's encouraging how at least so far FFXVI seems to just be FFXVI. Of course there's still time for them to announce movies, a multiplayer spinoff, 5 mobile games and announce it's actually part of some new "Summonis Maxiums cantus" franchise that will be expanded into multiple projects.
