FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER will be shutdown on January 11, 2023.

Saw this last night. My immediate reaction

Goodbye GIF

Been done with SQenix and their BS for a while now.

Noone wants to play a BR on mobile, let alone a FF BR.

It's a shame because I had a lot of fun in the beta but I never picked it up once it actually released. I really wanted a PC/Console port.

Why have I not heard of this game? It looks amazing.
It lasted like 9 months or so. Freemium was VERY intrusive, but graphics and gameplay wise it was pretty cool.

Back in mid-00s they also did the Snowboard mini-game for BREW capable phones, it even reached US for the Verizon digital market.

Wow I didn't realize this even came out.
I knew it was coming but never heard anything about the release so when I saw this thread I thought the title was a typo.
LOL guess not

I'll say it here... but this applies to every gaas game... dev... if you shut the server down... just make it so you can play alone offline with bots without any more updates, so ppl won't be upset they purchased shit and you send them down the drain

But instead they added more skins to collect the same minute they posted the end of service notice

Mobile is growing fast and half of all gaming revenue. Fortnite is huge. If FF7 First Solider gets only 0.1% of the market, that's $200 million sales alone! Impossible to fail.

Game was fun shame it died luckily never put money into it but not releasing a BR on PC or Console when on mobile you have to compete with Freefire and PUBG just asks for your game to die off, even after a week on launch it was impossible to find a game with anybody in the EU you just alwasy played against bots

I played it and it was fine. But in a world where better and more established Battle Royal games exists, why would you play this one? After the novelty of using Final Fantasy actions was over, so was the interest in this game.

Well you have the keep in mind the difference in cost for each failure, they can shut down dozens of their own games and it still wouldn't mean anything material.
The time and money sunk into this and it being shut down does count for a financial failure and burden on the company so my original point still stands, they can piss right off.
