Wait... I love you man, but Hope? Really?! Even Vanille is less offensive than Hope ._.Nah, Snow, Szah, Fang and Hope are fine. But I don't want to argue about XIII's story.
I thought Hope and Snow were annoying as hell in part 1. Can't hate on Fang and Sazh though.

That makes sense though (if you like bratty teenagers, that is!) The two chapters with Sazh and Vanille made me love both characters - but I never found a chapter that really redeemed Hope. I really did try my best though (and I like his dad!).Thanks man, the feelings are mutual, but I tend to like bratty teenage characters. Honestly, none of the main characters bothers me.
Please tell me there are other characters to play other than these 2 kids and a pokemonster of your choice.
I'll never understand the love for Lightning. OK, she's hot, but she has the all the personality of my christmas tree.
Which is none.
Because I don't have a christmas tree at the moment.
From what I've seen, though it isn't much, it looks like Hope is much less annoying in the second go around. Hope it sticks throughout.
It seems as though I tend to agree with you on a lot of things...I'll never understand the love for Lightning. OK, she's hot, but she has the all the personality of my christmas tree.

hey I've seen young characters that aren't annoying as hell in games!Hes 14 in XIII, and like 24 in XIII-2?
That's why, lol
she's a strong woman. People like that. And it's kind of rare in video games for the starring role to be that way.
She's the least offensive character out of a cast of terrible characters.
hey, you might think it's easy to construct a strong female main character, but I'm just saying it's something we don't see often. So it's appealing. As if it's so difficult to construct a strong female character.
Lightning could be male and it would make fuck all difference. Actually that's false, they couldn't use a hawt male character to sell the game as effectively to young boys.
Ripley or Sarah Connor she is not. She's basically early-game Cloud with muscles.
...wait
I thought the least offensive character was Sazh...?

Also comparing her to Cloud isn't helping your case, because cloud is awesome!
Well I tend to be fine with those Shinji Ikari characters so I didn't mind Hope. Snow was fine because even the game seemed to know he was stupid and a bit over the top. I think they could have toned him down a bit, but I liked the likeable tough but dumb guy thing they had going on. It could obviously been done better, but whatever.
Hes 14 in XIII, and like 24 in XIII-2?

Her mysteriousness only makes her cooler lol.Cloud was awesome because there was context to his awesomeness. He was infused with mako and was "apparently" a first-class SOLDIER.
Lightning is just a regular sergeant or something with no special abilities yet she can take on large groups of higher-ranking soldiers without breaking a sweat. That makes no sense and she comes off as being designed to be awesome just for the sake of being awesome. There's no reason for her to be awesome in the context of the game and the whole thing comes off as being paper-thin.
Agreed. I don't like Lightning very much. A strong female character to me in a game would be... Chris from Genso Suikoden III or Ayra from Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu, I guess. Or maybe the closest thing might be Celes Chere from FFVI if we want to stay within the series. I found Celes to be a far more convincing female protagonist than Lightning.Ripley or Sarah Connor she is not. She's basically early-game Cloud with muscles.
Correct.I thought the least offensive character was Sazh...?
Time-travel!Also it's 3 years after FF13 so he would be 17.
Time-travel!
Her mysteriousness only makes her cooler lol.
Wait... we've had this conversation before. Edit: we did here on this page of an old thread.
Well Hope dislikes him for his own reasons and Light dislikes him for her's. Like Snow, Light also kind of puts up a front of being very tough and that's why I think she's annoyed by Snow. She can see past his front and that honestly he can't do much. He couldn't save Serah even with all his talk and even after she "died" he still continues to talk. All that talk can be annoying I guess for her. There's also the fact that he and his Team Norra are all about being protectors but they don't seem to actually do anything and this bothers Light who is actually part of the "police". Add that this seemingly good for nothing bum is dating your sister who you've tried your hardest to protect and I can somewhat get why she doesn't like him. So you really have this character who talks a big talk, but I guess for some, he never backed it up.Is this is why I didn't end up liking Snow's character and honestly the whole game really. Nothing Snow did was stupid... I don't remember any scenes where he literally did anything that lacked intelligence. (I mean other than the you're fighting a God figure archetype in every RPG in general) He was desperately trying to save his loved ones without having any real way to do it. So he was just winging it and trying to keep positive yet the whole cast hated him for it for no reason what so ever and the game never let you forget it up until the very end.
Agreed. I don't like Lightning very much. A strong female character to me in a game would be... Chris from Genso Suikoden III
I remember watching the FFXIII Qore-video and the framerate was balls in that video... so I'm sure it's fine ingameHas there been any info on the framerate? I was watching the latest Qore and the game was looking rough at parts - I'm usually not one to notice these things either :/

Is this game as long as FFXIII?
What ? If Ripley = that lady from the "Aliens" movies, the one with the granny panties and "meh" acting then uh, yucky.
Ah wells. Whatever floats your boat.
Yeah, Snow is really pretty good as a Sentinel but the other characters surpass him in ther COM and RAV department.
At least has good Syn and Sab moves.
The only problem with Fang as a Commando is that her final attack is very long so I tend to just stop her from attacking before she does it.
30-40 hours to finish the main story.
Actually, my avatar is there to remind you it still exists, and that Konami is pushing the knife in even deeper!I love Chris. Stop mentioning Suikoden, it's depressing.
Correct. But he doesn't have offensive power behind his casts. Speed + Power is essential.I thought Snow was the fastest caster in the game?

I wonder how long it would take to 100% the game.

It sounds a lot easier than XIII.
Yeah. I'm glad it has an easy mode too. Have they said anything about the difficulty of the game? I hope its toned down a tad from XIII though.
EDIT: Oh Em GEE, I totally read your post wrong. Whoops. Sorry lol, I haven't had much sleep these last couple of days ...

I won't really argue your points. But isn't this why people praise Bioware? Because female Shepard is written like a man and thus has no female stereotypes.
Compared to Ripply where her desire to save Newt comes from easily written and stereotypical motherly traits?
The three hours I played on Normal were fairly easy.
There are few things in gaming more overrated than FemShep, Master Chief, and Marcus Phoenix.
I don't think anyone hates him, but there are a huge amount of people who actually think he is a good character.I thought everyone hated Fenix?
And idk why anyone would hate Chief. He hardly opens his mouth and acts a vessel for great gameplay.
