Final Fantasy XIII PC |OT| Lightning must not be forgotten

;____;

So happy right now. Thanks Yoshi!

I really wanted to write so much more, I was afraid I was going to have a book in my hands by the time I finshed it. Glad to know I still have some self control though. :X

Remember guys to send me a PM with your username on Steam and I'll send you the game as soon as I'm done watching Casino Royale :D!

I have $10... I don't want to play FFXIII again.... but I have $10... and with the code in the first post I could buy it... but... I don't want to play FFXIII again... Why the fuck am I fighting with myself so hard to justify not buying it?

Toriyama drug my water or something?
Because it's got a beautiful soundtrack, gorgeous art and graphics, and one of the best battle systems of any FF. And you get to experience that fantastic art and battle system at 1080p60 with lots of AA and 16xAF.

I just preordered mine off of GMG for $10.80.

Can't wait to buy this game. Probably getting it around xmas with a steam gift card. Gonna keep this subscribed for all the tips. :)

I believe we are already friends on Steam, I will double check later though.

Send me a steam message if we're friends! Otherwise, send me a PM with your username :D

Guys, THREE out of SIX people have claimed their game so far! Remember, if you won then send me a PM with your username! ♥

So a few questions for those who already played the game..

How hard is it on a scale of 1-10? Are there difficulty settings? and if so..does playing it at the hardest difficulty hurt the game in any way like make it more grindy etc?

Thnxs

Easy to beat. No real grinding needed. A bit harder to 5-star everything for extra drops.

I don't remember any choice of difficulty setting.

Not really grindy and if you want the most out of difficulty complete all quests in gran pulse.

I'd say 7 or 8. The game level caps you at many points and will still throw challenging bosses at you. Grinding alone won't overpower them, you need to come up with a good strategy with your party members/paradigms/etc

The level cap creates some sort of artificial difficulty.

Main story = 6/10 (whereas I'd give every FF game after 6 a 5/10 in difficulty).
Optional bosses are 8/10 and requires plenty of preparation, in the form of equipment, item or paradigms.

C'mon please stop that stuff.
I don't see chocobos or hear stories of female girls and purple dudes in my world!
It's true.

DO NOT READ THESE SPOILERS!!! ENDING OF THE TRILOGY!
Ending of LR, we see Lightning. On our planet.

FFXIII can have a fair bit of challenge IMO. Some of those bitches require you to be a paradigm shifting magician and can leave you with sweaty and even painful hands. Game actually has very good gameplay if you ask me.

Yeah, I feel like X, XII, and XIII are as difficult as VII, VIII, and IX are easy.

The franchise has had a really weird difficulty curve overall, the NES trilogy is tough as nails, the SNES games are fairly easy (IV was dumbed down for the US, but still), the PS1 games are super easy, and X-XIII brought some of the challenge back to the combat.

I love me some ATB, but it almost plays itself. Replays of VI and VII feel like just holding down X for victory, these days. Even though FFXII is the one that actually plays itself, there are some basic enemies in that game that will absolutely fuck you up if you just try to let the Gambits do their thing.

Not too sure which planet you live on but my planet does indeed have female girls

Congrats to the winners! Hope you all enjoy your PC copies! I'll be returning to my most recent playthrough on my PS3 copy on the 9th. I'll be quite a bit ahead of a bunch of you, but because I'll be busy I'm sure you'll eventually catch up.

Is Lightning a real person?

lightning hair shopped onto Ali Hillis.

close enough

Couldn't resist the $10.80 on GMG after stacking the 25%off and 10%off preorder. SE have priced it very well considering what they could have done.

5 more days guys!

Also, 5/6 people have claimed their gift. The remaining winner that still hasn't gotten their gift is this one:

Listen to my story. This may be my last chance...to save face and prove myself.

I purchased FFXIII at launch and dove right in. I love RPGs and considered myself a connoisseur of the genre. I'll spare the boring parts, but basically, I got to the final boss. As I begin to clash with Orphan, my friend's dad walks in and sits down by my friend and starts watching the battle. Now, this guy is a classic RPG guy: the NES Final Fantasies, Dragon Warriors, that sort of thing. He wasn't (and still isn't) a modern gamer, so he expressed interest in the modern RPG I was playing. He asked the typical questions (What is this? What's going on right now?), and my friend answered. His dad simply said, "Hmm." I wanted to make sure I impressed.

However, I just couldn't stagger the damn boss! Since this was years ago, I don't remember too much from the battle. I do remember a giant sword crashing down on me, which ruined me. It took too long to heal back the HP I lost from that attack, and by the time I was at a workable HP, the stagger bar dropped back down. The battle was a desperate struggle, and even with using every item I could, I just couldn't get ahead. After a 40 minute struggle, Orphan defeated me.

My friend and his dad left, saying nothing. I was too angry/upset/embarrassed to try again, so I shut it off. I never did pick it back up. Soon after this, my 360 got that dreadful red ring, and FFXIII still sits on my shelf, unbeaten.

I still live with my friend and his family. Allow me to exact my revenge on Orphan and prove myself worthy. I will make sure my friend's dad sees that I ain't no punk.

Thanks for your time!
Remember to PM me when you read this ♥

You make a compelling point, but for some reason OCTOBE-R25OFF-GMGXXX isn't working for me, so I'll take that as a sign not to get it, or to wait for the inevitable bundle for all three games.

(edit) seems that no longer works. Well saved myself from getting the game then :)

(edit 2) Damn, found a 23% off voucher in my e-mail... you win this time Lightning.

It is not tthat difficult i would say that excluding bonus bosses and the final dungeon it is 3/10

Only thing we can hope for is someone like Total Biscuit gets review code.
Because listening to him complain about the shitty kb/m controls in a console port best played with a controller is so much fun.

Half joking, his overzealousness in that regard is also useful when he goes into the options etc. Just best to mute him for the first couple minutes while he's poking around menus, I find. :p

I can snag it for 10 on GMG but I'm still so undecided. I picked up SOM and Alien. Not sure if I should snag it and wait to play some other time.

I seriously hope TB doesn't get a review copy :(
